Hi mate. I still have the landcruiser and have my type r back on the road. I was living in thailand for a long while. There is a car scene there but i didnt get chance to get involved owing to moving around a lot. I did live with a Honda City the whole time and can say it is a great car. Back in the UK now currently working on a project. Would love a new car but everything is too expensive for my blood now lol.

Thankyou mate. The Golf R is without a cracking motor and i cannot believe how much they are to buy new now, like 50k!!

it was emotional. Next i'll focus on doing better videos. Try and take the channel more seriously with effort so this should be the last type of video like this. As for what car i get next that's to be seen as im at a cross roads in my career now as well!

What do you think of the AMG in comparison? I test drove one before i bought my R and thought it was a fun car

not sure mate as im back in thailand now driving an old honda city. I am tempted to lease a couple f suvs for a day and do a video on them in some thai off road scenarios

i lost a lot of money during the pandemic so cars arent even on my radar at the moment mate, just getting my ducks in a row for retirement now or trying to. If i were to buy a car id probably be looking at BMW as they seem to be among the best cars now. Yes I sold the Golf R when car prices went mental, so it worked out ok for me, i had a nice car for 6 years and only lost 5k on it!

@@jaykay7932 fair play mate, you done well on the golf then. if you were looking at BMWs I would recommend you take a look at an Alpina as they are a much nicer alternative to a “normal” BMW and a lot rarer👍

Hi mate I thought I'd replied to you! Im well health wise however financially ive taken a knock since the "pandemic" started. Ive had a huge pay cut too so been busy fire fighting trying to make more money freelancing. I've been back in thailand again where i have an apartment now but currently back int UK until mid feb where i'll go back. I'll start ding youtube vids again once i get some sort of direction with my career and earnings as its eratic at the moment! How are you doing? What car are you driving now?

A lot has happened in the last 6-7 years hasnt it you have been in Thailand regularly? It’s like paradise over there mate, where abouts in Thailand do you go and do you enjoy it there? Also I heard from comments of your previous videos you actually sold the Golf R, was this when cars started to sky rocket in value as I can imagine yours with low mileage and showroom condition would fetch a few quid. I’m doing well jay thanks for asking I’ve recently got a mortgage in July 2022, and I was doing a lot of motorway mileage over the past couple of years so I’m driving a 2017 Mercedes E220d AMG Line Premium. Perfect car for hammering down the motorway every day around 57mpg. However i get a works van soon which I will be using day to day to get around so I’ve been looking at getting something as a toy for my days off. Not quite sure what as of yet though.

Sounds like you're doing well for yourself mate well done!! I am spending quite a lot of time in Thailand, I flew out last August and came back NYE day. Now planning on going back on the 15th if I don't get a new job soon. The city I live in is Hua Hin which is about 4 hours from Bangkok airport. ITS a great lifestyle, cheap enough to eat out everyday, lovely weather, some amazing cars where I live as its full of rich europeans. I'll get my act together and start filming for the channel as there are some really interesting roads there. A popular car over there is the Ford pick up truck. You see a few ford raptors as well! However cars are not cheap to buy there now. What sort of toy are you looking for? I wish i could afford a new toy but for now i still have my honda type r and my toyota. Answering your question about my R i managed to get a little over £23,000 for it. Not bad when before COVID it was valued at £18,500. I tried selling private but got stupid offers so in the end used a dealer service

@@jaykay7932 that sounds great mate glad you’re enjoying life out there, I went a few years ago and we hired a Hilux which was brand new at the time and all I seen was Toyota 4x4s on the road. Yes I’d love to see you upload some vids again as been here since the start. You got a good price for your Golf R what a credit to whoever got that car it was basically showroom condition. Where did it go if you don’t mind me asking? Also are you not working in software no more? You were with that company a lot of years werent you? As for a toy mate I’m thinking Golf R DSG to be honest. Been watching you on TH-cam 7 years and still never got my hands on one

Interesing where in Thailand were you? Yeah showroom still smelt brand new. I forget the name of the dealer but i recall them being based in plymouth. It took a while for them to sell it but they sold it in the end for 26k. Its on private plates now so isnt coming on up DVLA records. Im still a dev for the same company but have been given a 40% paycut. The pandemic killed my trailer business off as well, the trailer i had to sell before it started to rot. Hopefully things are on the up now though. I wouldnt mind having a golf R again hopefully i can afford one before the R400 comes out (if it ever comes). Now i have a property in Thailand though its hard to justify spending that amount of money for me. If i were you id forget about cars and smash that mortgage down a bit, just get yourself a nice R if you ever get a good bonus or make a bit of good profit from an investment

i know! and the rise from 68p to 80p was just as shocking at the time, protests and everything. Get used to this price as it will probably keep going up long term, particularly as they want us to go gween. It's nothing to do with ukraine neither its the great reset imo

@@jaykay7932 ow yeahh 100% not buying this is down to Ukraine they keep squeezing people year by year its sad really. If petrol prizes were cheap I would be buying a golf r ryt now. Only think putting ne off atm

I didn't really launch my R much, i preferred "spirited" driving on challenging roads. I've heard loads of people launching their cars daily and never having any issues

@@jaykay7932 yeah I'm strict on at least 160° oil temp before some" spirited" driving and I have yet to launch it. Sometimes it's hard to wait to get warm when you have someone egging you to race. Totally not worth the potential problems in my opinion. There's a horrific vid somewhere of a guy reeking hovac on a dsg just to get some pops and bangs.

defo ignore people trying to race when you're running cold. Which mk R have you got?

Thanks mate! I used to fill up with tesco momentum and found that to be sound. Its a lot cheaper than shells vpower as well but ive got shares in Shell so would prefer you get the vpower XD

during the cooler months im on E5 but now started using E10 regular more. Its a problem to engines when temps get low apparently. During the winter ive been using Sainsbury 97 RON

@@jaykay7932 well it would make sense as the ethanol attracts water but i just do every 4th tanks been using tesco fuel e10 and seems to be better then the others

Hi mate, im in the UK not USA so dont have access to the S&P500 only via ETF's which i never touch. I invested £20k in the FTSE 250 as the market crashed at the start of COVID lockdowns. I didnt double my money but made 90% gains average in the FTSE 250 investments I made. Sold off several of them but held a couple which have continued to rising owing to the energy crisis!

@@jaykay7932 what's wrong with ETFs? The Vanguard ETFs have minimal fees

theres everything wrong with them. Why would I buy a ETF and pay extra fees when we live in a global market anyway? Plus when i deal in commodities I'd rather own physical assets cutting the city yokels out of the loop. Anyway ive made more than i lost in the R via investing - actually bought the R on the back of a good investment portfolio. I also sold my R last summer for top dollar, pretty insane tbh lol, so am now sitting on a pot ready to invest or buy the next whip EDIT - not strictly true, the dollar i have from the R sale is going into a 5 year bond as I've just bought an expesnive property so until my next big dividend or merger comes through i'll be driving the old Type R for a bit. First world problems lol

@@jaykay7932 well because the fees are minimal and you are naturally diversified, it shouldn't form all of your portfolio of course but most certainly a portion of it. Porsche next?

nah im not keen on ETF but each to their own. Ive seen situations where a commodity has risen but the ETF doesnt track it equally - i wasnt the victim in this case but my boss was! The other thing my boss got stung on waas pulling short bets... big mistake!! Lukily he put an extremely small bet on. Next car will be Ferrar 430. Todays prices are reasonable, you can buy a lovely exmaple for 90k. But in the mean time me and wifey are planning on starting a small food business so that will be priority! What are you driving mate?

Hi mate, im glad to hear you got yourself an R. Smashing car! I sold mine last summer for a pretty penny but do sometimes miss being part of that club. Especially on motorways when i see other Audis and high spec VW's. I actually filmed the day the car was sold and taken away so when i get chance that will be uploaded. I actually regret not trying any of the maps now as quite a few people have said nothing but good things about them. Some even claim better MPG as well

i've not replaced it with anything super sexy yet. Just my old type R back on the road. Ive just bought myself a tidy little detached house so once the dust settles on the house move i'll start eying up the next toy. I'd love a Ferrari 360 or 430 next

not yet. I got my old type R back on the road. I wont bother looking for a new car until prices come back down to earth. Good time to sell but bad time to buy!!
