    I have one, and of it's something you wanted to do I'm happy to arrange it. Having dipped my toe into the leasing pool and moved from bmw to vw I am impressed. I didn't want to commit the monthly payments to an R but all I seem to do is TH-cam them hence seeing your videos.

      Yeah its something we can arrange mate. I have friends in Chesterfield who i see weekly so i know the area quite well. if you give me your email address (no one will see it because i have to approve comments) then we can arrange a meet up one weekend day you're free. I've got a format idea too so we can discuss that too

    you can do a Google search for them or eBay not to sure about warranty should be OK you can always just put certain things back 🖒

    You can also reset the tyre pressure in the glovebox there is a button just make sure your car is on and keep the button held until you hear a noise and it will reset it, quicker than going into the menu

    Jay Kay you have the tyre pressure monitoring system that uses the cars ABS sensors to work out if a wheel/tyre rolling radius has changed, My only experience of it was in my Dads Seat Altea and it wasn't good he shredded a tyre, put on a under inflated space saver and after getting a brand new tyre it only trigger after another 20 mies of driving !!! My new VW Tiguan as I thought I was getting those **** run flats I opted for the tyre pressure monitoring system as an option. They have sensors in each valve that gives a real time display of actual pressure readings

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ah that is what is was expecting! A real time tyre pressure per wheel. So you're saying this TPMS is just a basic system and only alerts the user when you're tyre is basically flat??

    • @billybankstowner4697
      @billybankstowner4697 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it will detect a slow leak in my experience with a Golf R, It was a nail. If the tyre is leaking check it dont just fill it.

      Good to hear ! These systems are getting more refined all the time My Dads Altea joke of a system dated from a car from 2007 afterall

      Not sure about the Altea, I made the mistake to simply remove the nail with the hope it didnt go all the way through but it let all the air out.Put on the spare and drove the wheel to a tyre place and they found more nails...well so they say :D

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that! Any idea how much air it needs to lose? I let 2lbs of pressure out and drove 9 miles but no warning ocurred

  • @ian7675
    @ian7675 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mate I had this warning come on my GTD whilst I was on a motorway, luckily I was right before a slip road so pulled off and checked but there was no obvious sign of deflation on any of the tyres. I carried on at 50-60mph for another 40 miles and pulled into a garage and checked them with an inflator but there was no deflation at all. That was on 9k miles, reset it and now done 11k miles with no issue since. Maybe it's a default thing to make you check your tyres periodically as I'd never checked them yet...could be wrong though.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe! Ive only done 2000 miles in it so perhaps @9k il get the alert. I check my pressures quite regularly though to be fair

      Jay Kay have you had to change your tyres yet? I heard it's an issue on the R? Collecting mine on Monday :)

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      no my tyres are fine. I don't see why the R should chew through tyres more than any other car to be honest.

    you need to get a vcds code reader and then you programme all different things on your car like stop start and permanently turn off or change things. thanks Mark 🖒

    Can we have a video on what oil to use for the golf r, how often you recommend changing it, of course 10k or every 12months but what if you drive it hard would you recommend a 5k change?

    I've had nothing but problems with my mk7 tpms. Sometimes a 1psi drop sets it off, sometimes a 5psi drop doesn't.

    • @joshbarsley9916
      @joshbarsley9916 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having said that, the first time it pinged I had a full puncture, but the rest it's been drops that haven't had an impact on driving, they seem a bit too inconsistent compared to how well engineered the rest of the car is

    Having been a student in Nottingham for 4 years and working for 2 years. All I can say is that when you're driving past the city centre it brings back some amazing memories.( I stayed in trinity square and litmus) I'm getting a new car soon and a trip to Nottingham is long over due and on the cards. Not only that your videos are very informative and genuine. Good on you mate! Just a quick question it might sound weird, If I connect via Bluetooth, I can play my own music right? Or am I missing something?

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thankyou mate, im glad you find my videos interesting. RE your question, i am not sure but i think you should be able to play your music via bluetooth. I use App Connect for my music and connect using the USB cable, as my bluetooth doesnt connect well for some reason

    I recently had a flat tire on my Golf R, and the tyre pressure monitoring system, warned me before it was visible that the tire had lost pressure.

    had been waiting for ages for the next video mate.
    my wife has this tyre pressure system in her Mazda. drove me nuts at first as a symbol kept appearing when 1st bought car. once you put the air in on the Mazda the symbol goes off. when the system went faulty on one of the valves it did cost around £50- £60 from dealer. I thought that was expensive but £150 is ridiculous.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      it took me 4 attempts to upload this video mate so it would have been up 4 days ago lol. Yeah i know, i hate this TPMS bollox... we had no problems before this so why have the government decided we need this crap for "safety" reasons i dont know! This is why i think mine isnt working, because it hasnt gone off once, but everybodive spoken to has said it drives them nuts once in a while! £150 is for 4 new valves. Im not sure how much a single valve costs but i hate it... another silly expense thanks to the law!

    • @davidabbott7430
      @davidabbott7430 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jay Kay Hey man, when you pressed the car button the car status screen came up instead of the TPMS. Top left and top right of that screen are two arrows which should let you scroll along to the TPMS page. Alternatively, bottom left, press the 'view' button and I'm sure there should be 3 options, one of those could take you to TPMS page too. Cheers.

    • @jaykay7932

      thanks mate. it threw me a bit as when i usually enter that part of the system it has shown the TPMS section so i was a bit confused and thought i was going mad lol

    def use auto hold! save the clutches

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good idea as I have read good things about the new polo gti

  • @maartendesmedt7267
    @maartendesmedt7267 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    You don't need auto hold to not burn your clutch. The golf R has a wet clutch and will never burn.
    A normal Golf with 7-speed DSG has a dry clutch and can burn if you abuse it.
    You can disable the front assist easily by clicking the button on your left lever which opens the menu instantly

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool, so what is the point in auto hold then? Eitherway i'll leave it running

    • @SgtRosier
      @SgtRosier 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay auto hold is for doing a hill start like you would use your handbrake in a manual!

    • @Recoil21
      @Recoil21 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Martino both the manual and the DSG have an electric handbrake so you have to apply the brake to release it, auto hold is just a great way of putting on the handbrake without you having to worry about doing the handbrake faff

    • @maartendesmedt7267
      @maartendesmedt7267 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      let me explain: with auto hold ON, your DSG will always release the clutch when you've come to a complete stop (RPM drops to +- 800)
      With auto hold OFF, when you come to complete stop by gently(!) applying the brake, your clutch will keep slipping and RPM will remain a bit higher (+- 950). After you came to your complete stop, press the brake a little bit harder and you will see the RPM drop to +-800 and your clutch will stop slipping.
      When you release the brake again a little bit, but don't start to roll yet, you will see the RPM rise again to +-950 and engaging the clutch as well.
      I think VW programmed this to make the car more responsive when taking of from a complete standstill.
      So: if you don't want to stress your clutch: apply brake harder after complete stop or use auto hold ;)
      (but do not forget: your golf R DSG has a wet clutch which is designed to slip and reduce wear)

      Jay Kay does auto hold wear the clutch or brakes ? I'm worried it's wearing my brakes out on GTI but I'm not sure how it works. Any clarification if you know anything ?

    Hi Jay kay, I got my golf R last December and loving it. Quick question on the TPMS, how can you actually make the system display the individual tyre pressures on the dashboard or multi-function screen menu? All I can find is the set function under the car menu. I've seen in another youtube video (th-cam.com/video/5ZKPQuNMBEs/w-d-xo.html) that the system can actually display individual tyre pressures. Any idea how you bring this up? Many thanks!

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      good question and thanks for the video link. I'll call my retailer tomorrow and find out, or il go in and show them this video as I too cannot get it. Also, even if i lower the tyre pressure the alert from the sensors doesnt go off so i suspect mine arent working and the same might be true for you too. I'll hopefully find out tomorrow

    • @vangelis13
      @vangelis13 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks Jay kay I look forward to seeing what the dealer says to you. I can actually confirm mine seem to work, I had my back-left pretoria wheel refurbished at wheel specialist in Aberdeen last week as I managed to inflict a scratch on the lip of the wheel whilst attempting to park close to a curb (stupid me!!!). When I got the car back the guy at the workshop told me that that when a wheel is removed - tyre off and then back on and re balanced the TPMS system might display a low pressure for that wheel in which case needs resetting. 15 mins after driving away the warning came for the particular wheel - thats why I noticed! Refilled the tires today for the first time since I bought the car at 36 psi as per the sticker on the door (they where only down a few psi). I suppose i need to find a nitro inflation service around here. What psi do you set them up to in yours if you don't mind me asking?

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No way! Sorry to hear about the scratched wheel! I think when I checked my pressure they had 36 in. I was checking them periodically last year but not checked in a while so il do that tomorrow as I'm out and about right now. I'm due to take my wheels off for the post winter detail so that will set the tyre pressure sensor alarm then in that case

    • @vangelis13
      @vangelis13 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah no worries, the chaps at Wheel specialist did a marvellous job stripping down and powder coating the wheel again. Perfect colour match and looks brand new...just have to make sure to stay away from these bloody curbs now :)
