    I use the + and - 1kph all the time while driving, and it always works like it should. I have never tried it while stationary.

      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never used it. I'm more than happy with multiples of 5. I know a lot of people like to trim by 1 though. Very strange it lets me decrease by 1mph, increase by 5mph and decrease by 5mph while stood. But not increase by 1mph...

    • @TheAlapalooza
      @TheAlapalooza 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I primarily use it for adjusting the speed to hit the exact speedlimit, after pushing the set button.

    • @sentineluk7
      @sentineluk7 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaykay7932 it's because you're stationary, 20MPH is the MINIMUM speed setting for the ACC. If you press SET it activated the ACC at the CURRENT Vehicle speed - you're not moving so all ACC can do is to set the minimum speed the ACC can work at. If you were moving along above 20 it will set to your current speed, then you can use RES/SET to increase/decrease target speed by 1. One thing to be careful of, if you are travelling SLOWER than the speed ACC is currently set to (but not activated- look for green warning light) ACC will set ACC to your current speed instead as it's working as "SET" and not the Minus button. (i've had my Golf R for 18 months now and use ACC a lot on Motorways).

    Maybe simple as you being parked @ 0 mph, and the system calibrating everything to you not being in motion? All of those systems require data. Being stationary would likely affect all of how the ACC is responding, no? Seeing the prior warnings the system prompted, I think the ACC wants to be driven, while tested!🙂

    Hi Jay - just checked the MPG on the large LCD screen. MPG for 2,000 miles is 27 so much better news. Not sure why this screen conflicts with the screen between the speed and rpm.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that sounds more like it. And the question is can ou rest the long term mpg or is that not possible?? If it isn't possible to reset then it's worth checking that screen before you buy one as the gauge how hard the car has been driven during its life

      I had a look at mine last night and it says over 1700 miles I've averaged 32mpg.i disconnected the battery one week I was out of the country so maybe that will reset the long term counter? Worth a try

    The upcoming 2017 version will have the front sensor somehow integrated into the front VW logo. That it so damn cool as the sensor in front ruins the looks but also people won't have the problem of it getting dirty.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never notice the radar on my car tbh. But how will moving the radar sensor behind the emblem solve the 'problem' of it getting dirty? The badge gets dirty just like the rest of the car so the radar sensor problem will always remain. It isn't a problem so long as you do a simple maintenance clean every so often. I've never had radar issues

      @pault477 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay - thanks for the very quick reply. one question though - when backing out of my garage ONLY which has a slight incline the emergency braking goes on every time despite nothing being there. It senses something but nothing is there. So consequently I have to turn it off each time I back out of the garage. This happens only when backing out of the garage. Also with just 5000 miles on it now what would you expect in MPG with pretty easy driving with occasional race mode on the freeway ramps. God it’s great fun.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My R has 4700 miles on it and I'm getting about 29-30mpg when doing a 17mile commute with the odd overtake and bit of a play in race mode. If I drive entirely in eco mode I get around 34-35mpg on the same commute. On motorway drives the best I've achieved is 38.6mpg with eco mode and a little bit of race mode however people have reported doing over 40mpg while in eco mode. I'd say 29-30mpg will be the real mpg

  • @amg4616

    Hi, in Golf R mk7.5 custom mode, which mode increases engine performance output, the DCC in Race mode or DRIVE in Race mode.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, either! Race mode increase throttle response and opens the exhaust pipes. The difference with what youre talking about simply means that you'll get better performance but you get to choose whether it should allow stiffer suspension or not. I wouldnt see the point in removing DCC on race mode if its the option you paid for (it was optional extra on the 7)

    • @amg4616
      @amg4616 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay Hi, thanks for the info. Now I got it. Actually I just like to have them everything in race mode but in a sense of a quieter race mode. Simply choosing the mode in Race, I feel like the engine power is pulling down, everything seems stiff and it wouldnt go fast smoothly.

    is your car an MY16 build ? tried the SOC readout you showed on the centre dash readout and mine does nothing only reset the trip and brings up the time setting.i have tried to enable using OBDeleven and it says its done it but no joy ,my car is a new MY17 .

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think mine is a 15 build. The manual dates November 15 and the tech at my dealer reckons 16builds are from May. This soc thing is a ridiculous problem but I did see in a forum that vcds does clear it. Have you got access to vcds ??

      Hi i have OBDeleven ,i have made a few changes with this on mine and other golfs no problem great bit of kit,but cannot even get the SOC on the display just the time that's it ,tried to enable it with the app on OBDeleven says its done it but still no joy ,i need someone with a MY17 build car to see if they can see the readout on there car.great video by the way best yet for info keep it up.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I spoke to a guy who has OBDEleven and asked him if it offered a battery coding app and he said no. Maybe resetting the SOC code is classed as battery recoding? I defo read that you need VCDS to clear it though which is annoying. Lack of battery recoding is the only reason i havent bought ODBEleven. Im going to take the plunge and buy VCDS i think... just with the pound weak against the dollar its an expensive tool lol. Thanks for the feed back mate. Got a plenty more coming but also going to be filming some fun videos in the R too

    Acc work around town? Like setting off and stoping at red lights

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure actually. Driving in rush hour a few weeks ago. I think sometimes when the car in front stopped, making me stop the car was not moving (as expected). Then once the car in front moved off my car didn't but I had stop start activated. I think if acc stops the car (and the driver never touches the brake or accelerator) then when the car in front moves so does your car. I hardly drive in heavy city traffic so I'm not sure. But if you hit the brakes at a set of lights then that would suspend acc and you'd need to hit res again after pulling off from the lights

      First of all I'd advise you in not buying new. The warranty is crap. After sale service crap. And you lose money even drug dealers would struggle to come to terms with lol. But in answering your question - over 2300 miles my computer claims 27mpg. My fuel bill is something like £460

    Hi, i would like to just let everyone know that i bought a 2016 Golf 7R that had its original battery from factory which died about 6 months ago. i purchased a new battery and put it in. I didn't do any of that re-calibrating with ECU etc my car is running just fine. Why did i do this? well i am a Ex VW Golf 7 Gti owner which i also replaced the battery by simply replacing the original VW one with an aftermarket battery for half the price with start-stop motion. I ended up selling the car after 6 and a half years still running the very same aftermarket battery i purchased with ZERO issues. I don't buy that battery reset hogwash. its just another way for the dealer to make money out of it. My tuner has changed plenty batteries on customers cars and not a single one has had any issue. Stop wasting your money going to the dealer for a battery re calibration. we are in the 21st century i am pretty sure that cars in the 21st century know when a new battery has been installed and adjusts its self accordingly.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate, while I applaud you for having the balls to do that and totally agree in you trying to save money, you need to be careful. My audi specialist told me that the reason you need to connect the battery properly (ie get it coded to the car) is because it will affect things like battery charging. It will also affect the cars features long term such as ACC. I know paying £200 for a battery - then paying labour of getting the guy to code it to the car - is expensive, its justified seeing as on average the batteries have a 10 year life span (if maintained correctly)

    • @AndrewSmith-sy7ws
      @AndrewSmith-sy7ws 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaykay7932 I changed the battery in my previous Golf 7Gti and drove around for 6 and a half years with zero issues. The first sign of a dying battery is it affects he cars convenience features such as start stop, bending lights rain sensors etc.... My start-stop stopped working and I couldn't figure out why...then the highbeam assist and bending lights stopped working then I took it to VW and they told me the battery is dead and needs to be replaced... I went and bought a brand new after market battery and installed it and all those convenience features returned back to normal....I drove the car for over 6 years and all those convenience features still worked I sold the car....

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      fair enough, but youre comparing a GTI with a R. Its like comparing apples to oranges as the R is way more complex than the GTI down to its AWD system. In any event im sure you can onto forums and have some people claim its important and others claim it isnt. Doesnt bother me personally as there is ample life left in my battery and im selling my R now anyway

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      just to update you since we last spoke. My battery died! Had the AA come round and fit another battery and he confirmed what you said: its not important to get the battery coded. However he did recommend it and he coded the battery for me... He said 99% of the time main dealers/specialist dont recode the battery

    • @AndrewSmith-sy7ws
      @AndrewSmith-sy7ws 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaykay7932 that sucks the your battery just died. I am in the Golf R owners club of South Africa on the telegram group and literally none of the guys in the group take their cars for recoding the battery. They just simply replace and move on with their lives. There are guys who have 2014 Golf 7R and haven't had issues with batteries. Everyone in the group says they are happy with just 5 years battery life since a battery here costs less that £120 for a good brand
