    Loving all these videos Jay Kay! They are so useful! Great tips and good knowledge you're passing on. Getting my R built in October - cannot wait and I'll definitely be re-watching these when needed.
    Good job :D

      Jay Kay Yeah mate, keep them coming! :)
      I placed the order at the end of June. They originally said 12 weeks, but because of the spec and the Akrapovic exhaust, they added another 3 weeks. I'm not too fussed though, it's the first time I'm buying a car brand new so it's just adding to the excitement of it all haha.

    Fully agree Jay.
    I have these Pretoria wheels on my mk7.5 R and specifically chose them for ease of maintenance, + looks of course.
    I thought I was strange to be looking into the "wonder what those type of wheels are like to clean" when choosing the options list :-D
    Best regards,
    AJ

      Thanks mate it's good to be back! Not yet mate. I will start test driving the weekend after Easter weekend. I will probably take a week off work too and smash a couple of dealer test drives. Lol il defo accidentally activate it and do some 11's lol

    Been a while mate. Good in depth video again. Test drove a Honda civic type r properly last week at my local dealer as bought CRV from there and Civic last year. Was impressed with performance and handling. Was offered a deal of £23,000 with 3,000 miles on clock, plus 4 years Warranty remaining, 1 owner who I met as collecting his new car. px it for a CRV as needed another family car and some cash but had to decline as still got the Golf R number 1 on my list.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know mate and thankyou. I did a video Sunday at snake pass so hopefully that is going up next. That's interesting mate and a cheap type r that! A lot better deal than what they offered me when I test drive one last year. If I remember correctly they tried to sell me a demonstrator for £26k. Golf r is defo the one though. It's just an amazing all rounder and I love mine even more now I'm used to all the tech! When do you think you'll buy one mate?

    • @manjbains1977
      @manjbains1977 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay no idea at the moment as my mate has a S3 on a 2011 plate owned from new with 300bhp only done 30,000 miles and selling it very cheap to me but have wait till next year when he gets his brand new Golf R. Also depends on budget as I have £14K plus my car valued at £5-£6k.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hats fair enough mate. The s3 would be tempting as well particularly as you know the owner. I keep meaning to test drive the s3 as well lol

    • @manjbains1977
      @manjbains1977 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay I had a cruise in a 2016 S3. Fab car but needed a better exhaust system. Seemed a bit quiet to me compared to a Golf R which I heard a few times.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the golf r can be quite loud as well because it always turns heads when I'm giving it a bit of turbo. You definitely don't want it quieter than the R! Have you not test driven a golf r yet then?

  • @marcbedingfield1934
    @marcbedingfield1934 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've just joined the club and ordered a mk7.5 R which should be ready for collection sometime in July. hopefully it won't be too long before you upload some more videos mate, it's been a while.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Welcome to the club mate. What colour did you go for and did you get the black pretorias?? I haven't driven my r in ages 😭 She's stuck under her cover. Been really busy with family stuff and a wedding coming up. Il hopefully be doing another tips and tricks video and long term running cost video of her in the next couple of weeks

    • @marcbedingfield1934
      @marcbedingfield1934 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      no I don't like the black Pretoria's. so just the silver ones. I went with the new white silver colour, doesn't look good on paper but they had a gti in white silver and it looked amazing. I went with 3 door DSG, pan roof, reversing camera, black mirrors, leather interior (not the carbon just the normal) and the sound system upgrade (dynaudio). I didn't go for pro nav because I didn't want to spend £1300 for a 1 inch bigger screen I could wave at.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds a nice bit of kit mate! Absolutely love my golf r and it's a pleasure when I do get to step in and drive her.

      next time you are going to buy a new car I would recommend Carwow. I am sure you are aware of them but in case you're not, you choose the car you are looking to buy and fully spec it how you want, and then dealers from all over the UK that signed up to them will price it and give you there best offer. you can then use it as leverage at your local dealer. when I first spoke to my local vw dealers they said there would be no discounts on the mk7.5 R. When I went in looking to purchase I said if you can get close to this Carwow price I will buy from you ( I showed them the offers on my phone) they looked at the offers, made some notes, went into the office for 5 minutes, they came back and matched the best offer I had (no discounts hey!!) As a result I got all the options I listed earlier and only paid a tiny amount over the list price for a DSG with NO options. I would definitely recommend using Carwow as a great negotiating tool.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I heard about carwow mate. Il defo use them for the next purchase.

    Great video as always jay! What’s you’re opinion on the 18” Cadiz wheels?

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      when i first test drove the R i had never seen pretoria wheels in person and to me the Cadiz wheels looked good. They felt good too on the test drive i did. But i have since seen both wheels next to each other and do prefer the pretorias now. I think you can get them in black now too! Im not sure if that is a manufacturer thing or if people are just getting them wrapped in black

  • @anthony55964

    Hi jay, what tyres do you recommend for these 19” Pretoria’s?

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      its down to your own preference. I like bridgestone potenza which have a firmer side wall but my R has conti sports whch seam softer

    Hiya Jay, any chance of a review of the loaner car while your's is in for service? Cheers 😬

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate unfortunately I didn't bother leasing a car because the day of the service was on a work day so I wouldn't have been able to drive the car. If it falls on a weekend next year il do that though

  • @ssadonnelly
    @ssadonnelly 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Service pricing was interesting I took a service plan on the Tiguan for 3 years £332. I then saw on the service indicator that it was on 2 year services. Tackled the salesman about it and he said because I have a low mileage he put me on fixed rather than variable servicing 3 x 10000 miles or annually. BTW If I rock up in august and get told go away for another year I will go ballistic !

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      does that mean you still get 3 services for a one off 332 though or was that 332 for the first service?? As i say they caught my friend out with his evoque, where as they make out you are paying for x number of services, instead its one service over x years which is another stealership trick IMO

    • @ssadonnelly
      @ssadonnelly 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      well i have the salesman's email if they try it on LOL to quote "What you have purchased is every year or 10,000 miles a service x3 so depending which one comes first the year or the 10,000 miles. So it isn't a waste of money as I didn't think you would be doing big miles with work"

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thats really good then which works out at approx £110 a service. I might change mine to 24month as i dont really drive the car hard enough where it would need a service @ 12month

    Jay,
    What mileage have you got on the clock in your 1st year of ownership.
    Your tyre wear looks like nothing.
    Good even tread wear all around?

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just over 3k miles. I've driven it once since the service! Been too busy. Tyre wear is worse on the front than on the rear. Manual states to rotate them over at 6k miles so that's what il do

  • @mayhemonline281
    @mayhemonline281 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    That happened to me, took delivery of a brand new 5 series the other day and it didn't have a wheel nut or a first aid kit. Had to contact the dealership

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I've read it's happened to a few people! It could be because stealerships are so busy selling cars that they rush prepping cars so miss things or things get damaged and they miss it. Did you get your wheel but and kit ok in the end?

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not sure about the standard wheels but the dealer told me that because the prets are diamond cut, they are easier to damage with potholes so he suggested i got the tyre and wheel insurance. I never bothered, instead i just drive a road carefully until i know it inside out, then i let the horses loose once i know its a solid surface.

  • @07989074102
    @07989074102 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Jay,
    I totally fucked up with my R. I traveled for the car, looked right in the showroom, got it home under the street light and the car bonnet and bumper were a total different shade, with it been red it pops under an orange light, then i could see it in natural day light next day. The alloy wheels had all been touched up shoddy i may add. You only know a car when you've washed it yourself.
    They took the car the car striped the bonnet down to bare metal, re sprayed the bumper and re did the wheels. Car back today fresh stone chip right in the middle of the bonnet, paint runs in the wheels, and behind the spoke, where the drench is, the lacquer has been missed..
    because they didnt flick the paint in to the wings theres still a shade difference, its a lot better, but not right.. total school boy error shit. I seriously don't know were i stand. they've had the longer than me. Its been four weeks now.
    The car came from VW swansea, i traveled because i was told it was immaculate, and it was 2k less than the others. Ive learned a serious lesson here, i will be taking a paint gauge tester to the next dealers i buy from. I didn't expect this shit from VW..

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's unbelievable! it sounds to me like the car might have been in an accident and not repaired under insurance. I don't think it would come from the factory like that as I'm getting the strong impression VAG are a strict manufacturer. Did you fetch the car or did they deliver it to you? The stone chip is their responsibility if they delivered it. Thanks for Sharing this mate as I wouldn't not expect that from an approved dealer either with an approved used car! You might be within your roghthfo ask for a refund if you've hardly driven it

    • @07989074102
      @07989074102 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The car was on a higher purchase agreement with previous owner. I had the body clinic check the car over, as I wanted it done up here, but they wouldn't pay, so it went back down there for the work doing adding another 500 mile to my car.
      The bonnet is original, along with the bumper. The chassis legs are all Straight, and the wings have never been touched. Nothing looks like it's been off in the engine bay. The headlights are original.
      My personal opinion is the car has been touched up, along with the wheels so that the previous owner didn't get stung by VW for touch up work. It may have had stone chips, and scuff on the bumper, or anything. My mate had a car on PCP and they hammer you when you give it back..
      It's like JCT 600 body clinic told me. If you buy a used Porsche, from Porsche it's not allowed to have more than 2 stone chips on it. They re spray bumpers and bonnets as a stipulation by Porsche all the time.. same with a lot of cars there. Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche, so on..
      I'm totally fucked off mate. They took the bonnet down to bare metal so the paint reading is right now with a gauge. spraying individual panels and not flicking and blending others to match is a joke ..

    • @07989074102
      @07989074102 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh and they picked the car up, and dropped it off. So yeah they are liable for the chip bud .. 👍

      18 hours in total it took mate! I think you can get a detailer to do it for £50 a corner. Worth paying if you can't do it yourself. Keep the car looking sharp

    Thanks for the video. One tip back: pls buy a decent hydraulic car jack, the one you are using is for emergency usage only.... it's not very stable..

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers for the tip mate. I agree with you, main reason for using the emergency jack was for practice. I can now change a wheel in under a minute lol so im prepared for a puncture. Also I'd reccomend placing the car on axle stands when detailing the wheels

  • @123alfieg5

    If I were you Jay I would get a garage to do the oil change for you instead and buy your own oil. You need just under 6 litres, and I bought some really good synthetic oil which will be better than anything the dealer puts in, as they only put in the minimum standard stuff. Cost me about £50 for the oil and garage did it for £10, so £60 all in and much better oil!

    • @123alfieg5
      @123alfieg5 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +£6 for the oil filter, also you mentioned it would void warranty. Its a legal requirement to be able to service your car at any garage without voiding warranty, so for just £10 you can get a stamp in the book.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i completely agree with you, but i have spoken to several VAG owners where the headlight system failed for one reason or another (I see quite a few cars where the day time running LED's are not working for example). They told me that because they had the car serviced at a specialist (rather than authorised main dealer) VAG rejected their warranty claim. Checking my service manual, one of the jobs they did was check the head light system ("Check of headlight settings is ticked off the list so they must do it as part of the "complimentry health check"). I always do my own oil service on my Landcruiser and Type R, its these bloody electronics of modern cars which is the problem

    • @123alfieg5
      @123alfieg5 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay I guess, you could always ask them how much it would be if you supplied your own oil? So you could at least get some synthetic oil in there

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah i was thinking that. I can get Castrol Edge 502 titanium dirt cheap. My fear would be that they then keeo your oil, use cheaper oil but then inform you they used your oil. Usually i sit and watch people work on my cars, but this time i was at work - and im not sure they let you in their workshops while they work on the car. Having said that my retailer are really friendly and socialbe so maybe next time i'll ask if i can sit in the service maybe even film it for the channel

    • @123alfieg5
      @123alfieg5 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah always worth asking. I think a main dealer should value their reputation more over a few quid of oil.

      Jay Kay Vegas is really popular at the moment. There are some dealers who probably easier to deal with than other's. Look forward to the new content! Been busy too as always something to do and no free time to have fun. Hope the R is ok too 👍
