    hi mate, a good tip I got from a detailer on TH-cam for interior plastics was to use meguires ultimate quick wax spray. I was sceptical but I tried it and was pleased with results, it doesn't leave a greasy layer like some interior products plus it give good protection against the sun for the plastic. it's also a good product to use on a routine wash in between full wax applications.

      cheers mate. Remember, if you care about your car looking mint for delivery, either ask the dealer if you can clean it and prep it yourself or pay a couple of hundred for a professional detailer to do it. The swirl marks i saw after my mates found them really got to me lol

    Wicked video. Glad to see the Harly wax tub in there, fantastic carnauba wax. Do recommend to everyone for the price and the quality of the product its unbelievable.

      Mate you were the reason i bought it! And it is awesome stuff. Ive used it on all three of my cars and still have 2/3 of it left! Have you ever tried autoglym HD wax?? That is getting massicve praise too

    • @ricky8836
      @ricky8836 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Meguiars ultimate wax, I find it amazing! Make sure it's the paste version and not the ultimate quik wax spray. *thumbs up*

    • @manjbains1977
      @manjbains1977 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay I have used the autoglym HD a few times on a Rolls Royce phantom and gost also a few Bentleys. It is good a fab wax too. The only thing is it's a bit harder to get off and you won't get many uses as the Harly wax. But I do recommend to try it as you will be pleased with the after results. Also the autoglym resin Polish is good to use before using the HD wax.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i wasnt sure where the resin polish fitted in with my current setup so havent bothered using it yet. I'll save it for the wheel detail which is actually not far off! Planning on doing post winter detail in mid to late march so not long now!

    ay oop Jay, sound advice about not letting a stealer wash your car. They probably use a sponge on underneath of car and then use it on the rest of bodywork lol. I've been using the same snow foam (bilt hamber), the only drawback (from a visual point of view) is it doesn't foam much like the others, but as for it's cleaning properties (the most important bit) are excellent.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your feedback mate. lol I wouldn't be surprised tbh! They must do the cars in a rush too as they sell so many of them at my retailer. Re the cleaning foam, so you are saying it works a treat then? My plan is to use it on the first maintenance clean I do this year to break down all the dirt and grime built up over the wax this winter

      Congrats on your purchase mate! I actually cant remember from top of my head as i havent detailed my R since last spring due to such little mileage i do. I thought i did a video on it as well! I'll do a write up on my blog tonight and send you the link as before polishing and waxing your car it needs to be as clean as possible, so needs a full detail

    I did notice that every time my car went for service to VW it came back looking different (“filled with swirl marks”). I always thought it might have been from previous washes. But thank you for clearing that out for me so I can look out next time it goes for service.🤦‍♂️

    Jay what's your opinion on the Ceramic Coat innovation paint protection? Think it costs about £200-300 but is supposed to bind with complex polymers to provide a lifetime protective film and you never have to apply it again

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      is that the nano film protection?? I did get that on my car. Id say do it as it is supposed to help protect against chips. Also helps with valuation on trade in or sell. The Audi dealer was impressed when i told him my car had the life time paint protection on it so i say do it

    If you are after a car polisher. Machine mart do a Clarke cp185 for around £85. Great value for money and they do a kit for it too.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think i will invest in a machine. I did all three cars by hand and it was enjoyable, but it does eat into driving time lol. Is this a DA polisher then?

    • @manjbains1977
      @manjbains1977 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay yes mate. Dewalt, Makita and Meguairs do a good one too. Depends on your budget and how many times your going to use it. I have used many cheap and expensive ones but found the Clarke one good value for money. Good reviews on line too.

      have a google and look in some forums, i think the general thought is prep the car yourself. It took the piss when i saw the marks! Bare in mind they had my R in their workshop (my youtube pic is the R in their workshop pre delivery getting detailed)

      ask if you can work in their workshop and clean your car or send in your chosen detailer. Im sure i read people on forums have been doing that

      whether you let them clean it or not, but make sure you go over the whole car with a fine tooth comb before driving off the forecourt. They'll deny any responsibility for blemishes/marks if you do.

    I am considering getting SLIM'S DETAILING DUAL ACTION (DAS-6) MACHINE POLISHER & MEGUIAR'S #105 & #205 KIT to get rid of my swirls and try my hand at machine polishing £130 was cheaper than a detailer was going to charge me,anyone bought from slims are they any good ? my Lopez blue was covered in swirls off the dealer and it's pissing me off, I just think this kit maybe a bit quicker than clay barring it and hand polishing

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate. Clay bar doesn't remove swirls or scratches. You would use your polisher after claybaring the car so it is as clean as possible

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then the polish you use along with the polisher buffs out swirls and light scratches

    • @robertulph
      @robertulph 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay ok I thought it did, looking at and feeling the paintwork it feels really smooth so do you think it's still worth still clay barring it ?

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I think a brand new car you will be fine to just give it a maintenance clean. Dry it thoroughly and then polish it

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to clay bar really

    I swear by snowfoam. you can see all the shit coming off the car and as a quick winter clean a good snow foam and then a good blast off gets it 90% clean enough for 30 mins work.

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i dont know why people are saying conflicting this about snow foam... Im planning on trying it before my first maintenance clean this year. Do you use snow foam all year round?

    • @mtriple8488
      @mtriple8488 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay yeah I use it all year round. Even in direct sunlight - although then I only let it stick for 10 minutes then. Basically - get your mixture right, I use mine neat through a foam lance because I get it cheap off a detailer mate. Leave it to linger for 10-15 minutes and then pressure washer it off. I find the more time you spend on blasting it off the better. my car is white so I can see the colour difference between clean and not. so I make sure all the dirt is off and if it's only a quick clean - this is more than enough. it's good stuff. if it's a proper wash I will do the same, then hand wash the car before polish/wax/sealant.

  • @anthony55964
    @anthony55964 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jay, in your opinion, a full detail goes as follows...
    1) Pressure wash/hose down car
    2) Shampoo with lambs wool mitt, using two bucket method
    3) Autoglym super resin polish
    4) Harley Wax
    Would this be ok for my new car?

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I did for my car on its first detail and it looks great now. Remember that the idea of the polishing stage is to remove any swirl marks too. I used meguiars ultimate polish for this, classes as being a pre waxing polish which also cuts.
      I've done further research too and a professional detail looks like this:
      1.) jet wash the car
      2.) snow foam the car then jet wash off again
      3.) shampoo using a mit and two bucket method
      4.) decontaminate the car for iron fallout using iron remover
      5.) remove tar stains if any found
      6.) clay bar the car removing organic contaminants
      7.) thoroughly dry the car using a proper drying towel (blow dryer too if you can afford one)
      8.) polish the car one panel at a time removing any swirls and adding first layer protection
      9.) wax the car
      Also make sure you treat the wheels too.
      I myself have never used snow foam or iron fallout removed and only just found out about fallout remover so il be doing that on my pre winter detail in October.
      What you suggest is adaquate though but defo treat the wheels too

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you wear gloves throughout the process as well as although the chemicals smell editable they are highly toxic to our lungs and central nervous system. I'm now starting to wear gloves and a mask

    • @anthony55964
      @anthony55964 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, sound advice Jay. Would you clean the wheels or body first? Regarding the wheels..
      1) Remove each wheel, one at a time
      2) Pressure wash arches and wheels
      3) Apply alloy wheel cleaner
      4) Autoglym Super resin polish
      5) Poorboys wheel sealant

    • @jaykay7932
      @jaykay7932  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you're about right there with the wheels but I'd add the following:
      1) Remove each wheel, one at a time
      2) Pressure wash arches and wheels
      3) Apply alloy wheel cleaner
      4.) use iron fallout
      5.) use tar remover if applicable
      6.) clay bar the wheels for a smooth finish
      7.) Autoglym Super resin polish
      8.) Poorboys wheel sealant
      Remember to apply 120NM of Tory when putting the wheels back on again.
      I didnmy wheels first. Then detailed the body of the car and washed the wheels again after the detail
      I know it's OCD but thankfully you only need to do this twice a year! After you have done all this it's a weekly maintenance wash. Keep on top of the exhaust tips too as pitting is terrible with these tips

    • @anthony55964
      @anthony55964 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Kay Jay, I understand we have to keep our cars clean, but won't a weekly maintenance wash take us back to square one, by removing the polish and wax that surely we're trying to build up on our car?
