Apple Crumble Recipe
Ingredients for Crumble Topping:
All-purpose flour: 1/2 cup (about 62 grams)
Oats: 1/2 cup (about 40 grams)
Brown sugar: 3 tablespoons (about 37 grams)
Cinnamon: 1/2 teaspoon (about 1.3 grams)
Butter (slightly soft): 5 tablespoons (about 70 grams)
Ingredients for Apple Filling:
Honeycrisp apples (diced): 3 large (about 3 cups or 360 grams after dicing)
Cinnamon: 1/4 teaspoon (about 0.65 grams)
Allspice: 1/4 teaspoon (about 0.5 grams)
Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
Sugar: ¼ cup sugar (50 grams)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (about 175°C).
2. Prepare the Crumble Topping: In a medium mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of oats, 3 teaspoons of brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. Cut in 5 tablespoons of slightly soft butter into the dry mixture. Use a pastry blender or your hands to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.
3. Prepare the Apple Filling: In a large bowl, mix the diced Honeycrisp apples with 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of allspice, a splash of lemon juice , and ¼ cup sugar until the apples are evenly coated.
4. Assemble the Crumble: Grease a small baking dish with butter or non-stick spray. Spread the apple mixture evenly into the bottom of the greased dish. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples, covering them completely.
5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake for about 20-30 minutes, though the actual time took about 40 minutes. Bake until the crumble topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
6. Serve: Let the apple crumble cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped topping or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
