- Today my friend Brooke and I made these amazing chocolate banana muffins!! It’s a good way to get rid of your ripe bananas. Or if you’re craving chocolate you can make this dessert and they’re a little healthier because they have banana. But trust me they are SO good and very chocolatey.

Chocolate Banana Muffins Recipe
Ingredients:
All-purpose Flour: 1 cup (125g)
Dutch Process Cocoa: 1/2 cup (50g)
Baking Soda: 1 teaspoon
Sea Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
Brown Bananas (ripe): 3 large (1 1/2 cups mashed)
Unsalted Butter, melted and slightly cooled: 1/4 cup (57g)
Canola Vegetable Oil or Melted Coconut Oil: 1/4 cup (60ml)
Light Brown Sugar, packed: 3/4 cup (150g)
Egg, at room temperature: 1 large
Pure Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
Semisweet Chocolate Chips: 1 cup, divided (175g)
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a muffin pan with paper liners.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, Dutch process cocoa, baking soda, and sea salt. Stir together until well mixed.
3. Peel the brown bananas and place them in a separate bowl. Mash the bananas using a fork or potato masher until smooth.
4. To the mashed bananas, add the melted unsalted butter, vegetable oil, packed light brown sugar, egg, and pure vanilla extract. Mix until thoroughly combined.
5. Pour the wet banana mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
6. Gently fold in 3/4 cup of semisweet chocolate chips into the muffin batter, reserving the remaining 1/4 cup for topping.
7. Spoon the muffin batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each cup about 2/3 to 3/4 full.
8. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of semisweet chocolate chips evenly over the tops of the muffins.
9. Place the muffin pan in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean. Once baked, remove the muffins from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for 5 to 10 minutes. Then, transfer the muffins to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
