How to make Easy Lady Fingers for Tiramisu!!

  • This is a unique and tasty Italian cookie that can be used for making other things like tiramisu! It’s so light and crisp and it just melts in your mouth.

    Lady Fingers Recipe
    Ingredients:
    Eggs:
    3 large eggs, separated
    Granulated Sugar:
    1/4 cup sugar (50g) for egg yolks
    1/4 cup sugar (50g) for egg whites
    Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
    Vanilla Extract: 1/2 teaspoon
    Flour: 1 cup (120g)
    Cornstarch: 5 teaspoons (25g)
    Powdered Sugar: For dusting
    Directions:
    1. Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites, ensuring no egg yolks mix with the egg whites.
    2. In a bowl, combine the egg yolks, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Use a hand mixer to beat the mixture until pale and fluffy.
    3. In a separate clean bowl, beat the egg whites on high speed until soft peaks form.
    4. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the egg yolk mixture, being careful not to deflate the mixture. Do this in batches until just combined.
    5. Sift together the flour and cornstarch.
    6. Carefully fold the flour mixture into the egg mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing to preserve the airy texture.
    7. Transfer the batter into a piping bag fitted with a large round tip or cut a hole in the piping bag. Pipe the batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, forming about 4-inch long logs.
    8. Before baking, sprinkle the piped lady fingers with powdered sugar. This will help them rise and become airy during baking.
    9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Bake the lady fingers for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown and crispy, or to your desired level of crispness.
    10. Allow the lady fingers to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, they are ready to be enjoyed on their own or used in other recipes like tiramisu.
    11. Indulge in these light, crispy lady fingers as a delightful treat or use them to create delicious desserts like tiramisu.
    Tips:
    Ensure that the egg whites are beaten until they form soft peaks to achieve the desired light and airy texture.
    Be gentle when folding the egg whites into the egg yolk mixture to avoid deflating the batter.
    Use a piping bag for uniform lady fingers, but if you don't have one, you can put the batter into a gallon bag and cut off a corner.
    Adjust the baking time to achieve your preferred level of crispness.
    Store any leftover lady fingers in an airtight container to maintain their crispness
