I just got my brace unlocked to 20 degree flexion and omg the pressure I'm feeling trying to go to 20 degrees ngl..I cried my eyes out..its only been a day though I was doing 10 degrees and it got so easy. 20 seems impossible lol Anyone else have the same feeling? I started my PT yesterday btw

Hey man. Just found your videos. 5.5 weeks post surgery myself and I was so happy to see someone pushing to the amount you were. I've been "sneaking" extra work beyond what my surgeon and PT have been saying, while listening to my body of course, and I still think it's the way to go. Seeing your videos helped reinforce this and give me some more things to work on, so thanks. The only frustrating thing I have is range of motion. Damn but that moves slowly.

Great video! I can manage all the exercises except the standard straight leg raise. I can feel my quad trying to lift but its almost like the knee and below wont lift my leg (almost like its disconnected). Does anyone have any advice/exercises to solve this?. -- I can do the side & rear leg raises no problem. Also I'm on knee brace at 30 degrees, coming up to 4 weeks post op.

I'm about 3 weeks post op just about. When were you able to do leg lifts. I cant do them cuz the pain is unbearable when trying to do them at this point. I can do those clam shells no problem and heel slides but only to 10 degrees bend. Leg raises seem to be the weakest right now. I know I'm only 3 weeks post op but some of the things I can do and I can bear my weight as well give me hope. Just wondering about the leg raises

I had same problem I’m now on week 6 at 70% and doing leg lifts. It feels like it’s never going to happen then just does. Happened about end of week4/5 for me. Keep willing and use a strap and lift leg and try taking up strain on leg then it just engages and starts doing it. It’ll only be a little bit but now on week6 I can lift leg onto sofa and do do leg raises. It’ll happen keep going

@@mindfulcalm4115 man thank you so much. I'm a little behind cuz I havent started PT yet. I've been able to bend my leg 10 degrees for about almost 2 weeks now. I start PT next week cuz theres so many ppl in my area. I am starting to notice it's getting less painful. Thanks!

Hi max I completely tore my left patella tendon on 25th April 2024 -- whilst trying to jump and grab a 12ft wall on an obstacle course. I'm still in the leg brace fully locked out. I've been doing the immobilized exercises from your video. I can do the sides and back leg raises fine, but the normal straight raise I cannot get it to lift (very frustrating). I can feel my quad trying to lift it, but from my knee down it refuses to activate. Do you have any tips/guidance for this? Also today is 2 weeks and 3 days since my Op, I can slowly move around without crutches but should I be further ahead in recovery by now? At least introducing some flexion. Thanks. Byron from UK!

Hi everyone I broke my right patella in half and I am about to get the cast off on 15th May and a brace fitted after that however I notices my left ankle had begun to swell about 3 weeks after the cast was put on. Why would my left ankle swell up like a kind of puffy look but not painful.. Any help would be appreciated. My Doc is pretty uninterested in my problem.

Hey I found this channel when trying to educate myself for what I was up against with my own injury. I ruptured my patellar tendon in both of my knees playing basketball April 13th, 2024 and had a successful surgery April 19th to repair both knees. I've been immobilized and coming up on 3 weeks post op soon. I really appreciate the information and your willingness to share your experience with this content.

Hello everyone, I'm almost 5 week post-op, 2 weeks after the surgery I accidently contracted very hardly my quad with my leg in the air trying to go from an upright to a sitting position and I felt a lot of pain...swelling and my knee was really hot for 9 hours...I was wondering while you were walking during your rehab did you frequently experience like if your patella would want to get of of your knee or like it was dragged up when your quad would contract...I feel that a part of the surgery was ripped by the event I described...and my patella would only be fixed on one side...is it normal to experience this kind of disconfort in your opinion? I am able to do 10-15 leg lifts with my zimmer...but when walking for a prolonged period of time ,(always with my zimmer) I'm begginning to experience this disconforr in the patella...thanks a lot in advance!

Well.. If only my patellar was ruptured.. But the inside tendon,.. Don't know the English names.. The one in the middle of the knee, and also my Meniskus are ruptured.. 55 years old.. Happened from a bad kitesurf kiteloop. 3 weeks later after my 4 hours surgery, thick blood from my knee entered my lounge.. So I nearly died from it and my Physiotherapie started 5 weeks to late.. Now. After 10 weeks I can maximal bend my knee about 35 degree, and it doesn't get better.. I am in fear, I'll never be able even to get up stairs again.. 😢

This looks great, but what about a double quadriceps rupture? What is done first 2 weeks ? PT has my husband using a walker IN A SOFT VELCRO SPLINT … NOT A BRACE THAT CAN BE FIXED TO PREVENT INJURY using a walker and shuffling down the hall and back 60 feet or more … he hasn’t even had a post op visit with the surgeon and this guy has him ambulating?!?!?! Am I crazy or is this ridiculous and dangerous??

I am at 6 weeks post op from the patellar tendon. repair, how many degrees we you able to bend your knee? I am at +/- 80; according to the doc 0 to 90 is allowed. Impressive your progress. I was only allowed toe touch until 6 weeks so no where close to your progress. I am still walking with the brace locked at 0 and using crutches. Impressive you could walk no crutches at 2 weeks

Hey yall. Checking in. Currently 10 months post op from complete patella and rentinaculum rupture. 33 year old life time athlete with solid genetics. Just giving y’all hope! I can sprint again, my 40 yard dash 90% of my college best. My strength in all areas other then back squat is 100%. Still not able to dunk yet (how I ruptured it) but my vertical is making gains. I say all that to say, i remember when I couldn’t bend my knee for weeks, I remember where some of you might be at. It gets better, for sure the most difficult sports injury out there. NFL meta analysis showed return to play was 10-18 months (growth hormone I’m sure) Yesterday I play basketball against other people for the first time since last June. There is hope keep going! Lastly, work on your quads ability to absorb force rapidly (eccentric force absorption) to avoid this injury. Especially if you already have a strong posterior chain.

Hi guys I'm 5 months post op but I was waiting for my surgery for 7 months so alot of muscle wasted away in that time. around 4 months post op i was still struggling to do straight leg raises but they are slowly getting better, my main struggle now is step downs (or the step down motion i.e walking down stairs) due to the fact of the tendon is still weak and also my brain not letting me do it as I'm scared i will suddenly fall and it will snap again. My other main big problem is leg extensions , being 5 months post op I can slowly do leg extensions about 3/4 of the way with NO weight for 12 reps of 3 sets i done 3kg for the first time yesterday and only managed 1/4 of the way for 10 reps 1 set and then my shin felt too weak and it was too painful. My leg is ok and leg press i can do 30kg for a lot of reps on my damaged leg. Just Sharing my progress incase it helps someone out there

I'm currently 10 months post-op and it's been a tough year in ways that I think are hard to understand if you haven't had this injury. I have not run more than a few steps yet but keep working the PT and general workouts, walking in the woods and downhill. Thanks to Eric for his videos, they were a big help to me early in the recovery process. Peace everyone, speedy recovery in the short term, and healthy recovery in the long term!

I still remember the day I was able to walk down a leafy hill for the first time. Everyone recovers at different rates based on so many factors…a great PT and surgeon helps a lot. I’ll never take my mobility and physical ability for granted again. When people try to relate with ACL or MCL tears it triggers me lol. This injury is like nothing else. You can get back to 100%! Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not possible. Stay positive, stay hard!
