@colhk that's fairly subjective question: generally nvidia gpus perform best for eGPU, but I favour AMD for price to performance, and I don't generally accelerate the internal monitor!

im not sure, the x280 wwan port can be used with 2242 nvme ssd, im not sure for x240 edit: accordign to thinkpad forums, u can use 2242 nvme ssds in x240 as well!

I'm defo looking into an x270 when the time is right, in general the whole usb-c charging thing seems not very robust, even on my t480, I shall have to be careful!

I've just bought a x280, i3 though. I've also got the x240. I hated it. The screen is horrible and hated the trackpad so never used it plus it was so heavy. The x280 is great, the 1080p IPS screen is gorgeous, feels light, trackpads great. Love the form factor but thought Lenovo could have squeezed a slightly bigger screen on it, which would have been perfect. Not bad for £60 though which I paid. Look at the x390 or x13 if you want a bigger screen in the same form factor.

Nice! I wanted a decently powerful Linux machine, 7th gen still great for linux, what's the max ram on those bad boys? I wanted eGPU/tb3 setup, so 16gb+ wud be great for gaming and editing

@@TechDave Actually the X270 supports up to 32gb, I have 16gb and it's enough for my needs. I also like the fact that two batteries are used - with the original batteries, the operating time is still +4h depending on use.

@@sehofin oh thats awesome! my T480 has 16gb, and ive not really needed more, as im rocking 32gb in my p51. the bridge battery system is definitely a great feature, i get about 20+ hours w/ extended battery + internal +3 cell external (on t480) would be fun to test the x270 w/ my egpu/rx 6600 8gb & 32gb ram, might be a lil editing beast for davinci resolve

aw mate thanks! just the excuse i needed! i was thinking popOS (for eGPU) & arch/i3gaps dual boot, saw one for £80 on ebay, its now on my shopping list!

@@TechDave Arch i3 ,would work great ,low resources,also check out Arcolinix,arched based but it's bloody brilliant ,besides the 4k how to videos on TH-cam that Eric du Bois the creator has,not plugging this but worth a look ,at the same time use whatever works for you

To elaborate: ram is soldered, so whatever u machine comes with, that's it. U *could* force install win11 but the latest win11 updates coming will mean it will stop working, and regarding graphics, it's Intel HD 520 gpu, so not great for cad

Ye! I bought them about 5 years ago for my t430 (I have 16gb 1333mhz in t430 for the time being) I think if memory serves they were pretty damn expensive, so I'm pleased ive got them, light overheating might be a potential issue, but only with on lap use being a bit spicy. In which case I'll switch them to 1333mhz/16gb kit, we shall see

I managed to hunt a 1pc of that same 2133 8GB Hyper-X ram you have, got it on eBay US 2 years ago and apparently my W530 wouldn't want to take it (on official BIOS) but it worked fine on my W541. I'm surprised 2x 2133 MHz RAM worked with no issues even without advance BIOS on your X230T :)

@emmanne08 I was surprised myself! I think lasted x230/T bios revisions allowed it to work, I've not had a 3rd gen thinkpad where it didn't work, so kudos to lenovo

Thanks! Ye my Brain is on the mend now! No doubt the p14s is a monster tho! I love my x230 and is lovely to have a tablet version again. I do own an x220 as well(i5/8gb ram/256gb ssd/256gb msata ssd; dual boot win10 & linux mint/i3wm) that I've been meaning to cover. All in due course I suppose!

Much thanks! My t430 is currently running drum recording duty! Ableton & firewire projectmix io soundcard/midi controller via expresscard adapter w/ 8 mics on my Pearl drumkit

that soudns like the Keyboard needs replacign or motherboard damage. i have seen similar symptoms with water damage to kb on an x1 carbon

@@TechDave nop is a BUG if you attach a keyboad external to it then this happens if you remove it lenovo has an article about it.

1vyrain is a bios mod, so as long as u don't update the bios during the setup/install of win10/11 then it won't need to be flashed again

umm, it varies, depends what u do with it, i used the 3840qm, so its a bti spicey, the delta fan/better cpu fna is defo the way to go. in retrosepct i would get a slightly less spicy quadcore, such as the 3640

Counter strike 1.6 U need an older driver, u cud try downloading "snappy driver" and testing each driver
