even if its a dual boot situation, i usually have i3 on most of my laptops! thanks for the comment, glad to be useful!
You can add a piece of cardboard to push the two layers of pins together. If you added masking tape or something to prevent some pins shorting, the rest of them may not be in contact perfectly. Adding a thin bit of cardboard or something then screwing it back together should get the trackpoint buttons working.

Could you share your configs? I would advise vscode for anything coding, and maybe switch to a lighter distribution of Linux.
im happy with mint/i3 for now, although i have got arch and i3gaps on my t430 as well. ill give vscode a try, although im mainly aiming to learn python. any preference/suggestions on lighter distros & what is ur reasoning for this?

@@TechDave because these laptop are showing their age, and lighter distros are less heavy on resources. It will mostly depend on what types of workload you will run.

What kind of software are you using for your music production?
Ableton 9 and a Ton of plugins!
But that's on the windows 10 install
