It's nice to look at the older laptops because of great compatibility with everything. I think only Sony with the Vaio model has kept this or some Panasonic models.
Did u see the Japanese laptop on linustechtips? New device even has dvd drive and vga, I'll believe it was Panasonic

this is the laptop, if anyone is curious
Does UEFI, legacy boot, or boot from lan have any effect?
Thank you for making these! Just finished replacing a hinge, 16GB ram, i7 3840QM, and a new 1080p display. Looking great!
Also just got an expresscard egpu running with an AMD rx580. Running opensuse leap 15.5 and everything displays fine, but man is it ever slow even using a gpu switcher though not the exact one. Hoping to figure out what's wrong but until then the egpu is unusable to me. Also running a 2012 bios so might try upgrading that
Try changing expresscard speed from "automatic" to "generation 1" if that doesn't help, comment again and I'll see what I can do to help!
Any joy?
@@TechDave Just checked and it was already set to generation 1. I'll try a bios update then take another knock at it after the holidays
@kbuzzred another potential fix: 1yvrain ! Helps with a bunch of stuff but, may be a help, can't say for sure
Wooooooooo!
*airhorns*
i hope you still update about this laptop
ive always got more to say about my beloved T430!
anything in particular i could cover for u?
@@TechDave hey,i wanna ask can i install core boot using 1vyrain on T430 ?,thanks :)
@Grooveing_Cat6969 I've got basic 1vyrain mod on there, I suppose I cud look experiment with coreboot, other than disabling IME, what are the benefits to it?
@Grooveing_Cat6969 sorry I misread ur reply: yes u can, I believe ur need to input the URL of coreboot during the process, but I've never tried it myself
@@TechDave thanks for your answer, maybe i can try it later but yeah your tutorial about this laptop help me a lot thanks
Ever thought of getting a w520 or w530?
I've contemplated the w530 a lot tbf
ave you considered buying a PS5?
ive considered it, but alas i ma desperately broke rn, it will defo happen once theyve settled down in price tho. ive got literally every other playstation tho, inc. my original ps1, 3x ps2's (2x phat with hdds + 1x slim with broken disk drive that i play games over the network on) 2x ps3's (1x slim & 1 original) and a ps4 with 500gb hdd
@@TechDave I was implying that getting a console would be more time efficient for gaming :)
@@MikeDancy haha, ye, I just like tinkering to be honest
