I have around 40 Think Pads , just love tinkering around with them , to get the Lids looking tiptop i use small drop of baby oil , once rubbed in they come up a treat .Best wishes Dave , great videos

Makes me want to resurrect my 7 row IPS X230 which was retired for an X13. Loved that machine, but just didn't quite have the grunt I needed anymore, even though my ThinkPads are secondary devices!

For that sticker removal, isopropyl alcohol first with a cotton ear bud then spray Eucalyptus oil with a fibre cloth and you good to go!

The X2xx laptops are starting to increase in price as they have a niche cult following. From the X200 up to the X230 they had so so much upgrade potential that seems to keep prices healthy. I have several iterations of those laptops a s well as X61's from a generation before which thrive well on linux distros. Great channel just subscribed😊😊👍👍

for your info, on the p51 the keyboard isn't german because on the german layout the z is on the top row so qwertz. and the stroke through o and the ae, aren't part of german. I think Danish, swedish, finnish have those. But I don't speak those so I'm unsure what layout that is

Hello, I am thinking to buy i5 x240, x250 or t450 thinkpad, I want to study python and data science. Is it possible to learn coding at a job level with these models?.What do you think?.
@floki118 i honestly don't know what to advise, as i don't study/work in those fields, personally id suggest the most powerful device u can afford

ThinkPads screens are low quality, weak processor, bad and flimsy design.
Engagement
ThinkPads are overrated laptop with poor specs. They’re pure garbage.
They were created for normal work such as watching movies or working with spreadsheets, but that is why they are compact and have a long battery life.
I’m superior compared to you all ThinkPad fanboys. I use a MacBook with far better specs than trash ThinkPads. The display and processor is better. Y’all need to upgrade.

I like your thinkpad videos . I myself have a little collection, Ive got a t460, an r61e im slowly fixing up that i bought over 10 years ago, and an x201T. I just won a 6th gen x1 for less than 200 us on ebay

I just got 8 gb ram for the x201 today and a new keyboard to replace the broken one on the r61e. i think im gonna give up on the r61e as the hdd is failing and even when fixed that old core 2 duo isnt of much use in 2023@@TechDave
@NickHopkinsMedia a good lightweight linux distro might make it usable? I use i3wm/Pop!_os on my x200 with 4gb ram, still useful for reading & especially writing as the keyboard is lush! Fairly useless for media consumption above 480p, but that makes it the perfect candidate for an isolated "no distractions" machine
@@TechDave I think there’s something wrong with it. Even with something as light as puppy Linux it is so slow even moving the mouse is extremely laggy to the point of being unusable
@NickHopkinsMedia cud be any number of issues, but harddrive is defo first port of call for ssd upgrade if viable
