I'm *NOT* a gamer but it is sure nice to see a perspective from the multi-media production aspect!!! I'm (currently) kinda stuck on the ThinkPad P50 platform for basic activities. Receiving a P50 tomorrow (9/11/2023), I have already ordered 64GB of max RAM and have 2-2TB NVME drives as well as a SSD 2.5" drive, both Samsung, as I appreciate how Samsung has structured their Samsung Magician software to benefit the end user. If I move up the P51 platform, I'll migrate whatever components possible!!! ThinkPad P50 was the minimum baseline that I was willing to settle with. As the P50 has a Thunderbolt 3.0 Port, I'm curious to know what other peripheral capabilities I have!!! Heaviest processing I will probably do is with DVDFab in transcoding/ripping of DVD's and Blu-Ray. Interestingly, DVDFab offers "Artificial Intelligence Up-Sampling" for video!!! I wonder how taxing that would be on the GPU?!
This is maybe my dream laptop. With the M2200m monster.

brother: until win10 is discontinued this is my *Perfect* device, i just need to get a next gen gpu for my eGPU, and boom, sorted. after 2025: smash this badboy on linux and buy a more recent lenovo workstation laptop
What's your opinion of W11?
@@joshtree8298 I've only tested it briefly, as I didn't keep the install, but I'm extremely enthused about the android integration, it will be a game changer in years to come
@TechDave can you explain why win 11 is bad for the p51 please?
Have you figured out how to change the ram speed to run faster than 2400mhz? I just got some RAM upgrades and was wondering the same thing

I'd say the best value up to date laptop you can buy today (Q3 2022)!
RIP, P52 is the last Thinkpad as far as I am concerned (I know this term gets shoved around a lot... But P52 is it- as far as a laptop built to be owned by somebody rather than simply consumed)
That's encouraging . . . . I was thinking W530 with the 520 keyboard mod.
"simply consumed" = throwaway tech!!! Absolutely Pi$$es me off when tech can't be repurposed!!!!
why did you chose this one instead of msi titan or legion for that matter? i mean, a 3070ti would be cheaper than quadro and probably do a better job in rendering and gaming.
not sure really, was kind of impulsive tbh, im very happy with it regardless.
Does the SIM card slot come in all or was this specific to your laptop?
The slot shud be in all of them, however, the wwan card & the antennae may not be on all models!

It's my main machine, I use it for video editing and music production 👌

I have this Neewer NW-800 here with a Behringer U-phoria UMC22 and its not too bad.
I have many amazing microphones and 5 soundcarda as I'm a musician. My issue is getting a clean signal into my phone, as that's what I film on

@@TechDave Need to use a Boundary Style Surface Microphone to reduce sound reflections AKA, PZM, Pressure Zone Microphone. Simply said, you can sit a wired microphone on a surface such as mousepad or a piece of neoprene to reduce multiple surface reflections to the microphone element.
@fookingsoc the trouble is, I need something that will work with a smartphone for direct recording, as it's my only decent camera
Please do a gaming test with it. Don't forget to record the screen with the fps indicator

Does it support windows 11
Afaik 7th gen not supported, 8th gen and above. Although I did successfully Install Windows 11,with a workaround. However I need Windows 10 for now for driver support for music hardware. Hence using win10pro

@Umka thanks so much! I'm a musician by trade, bass is my main instrument (6 string bass specifically) but I play 8 string guitar, piano, drums and sing, as well as currently I'm learning jazz clarinet! I sincerely appreciate the appreciation!
