I've had my 4th gen carbon since they were new.
My own notes:
The speakers can be replaced with iPad speakers with some careful rewiring. improves abysmal sound quality.
The screen holds up today, vibrant sRGB gamut.
Lack of USB-C is a hindrance. Lack of thunderbolt as well since it can't take an eGPU.
CPU (6200u) holds up.
iGPU does not hold up so well. great for 360 era games though. Good emulation as well.
My battery still holds 90% of factory. When I bought it I set a 48wh max cap on the charge to preserve it, and every now and then lift that cap and re-calibrate.
It's seen a huge gamut of usage, including a few years running guild wars 2 24/7 for my gf.
Repasted it with PK-3 thermal paste in 2017 and temps are still ultra low maxing out in the 60's
I actually picked one up today for $125 US. It's the highest spec model (I believe) with the Core I7-6600U, 16GB, and a 1TB drive. I'm pretty impressed with it thus far. I only intend on using it for web browsing and carrying to the studio and doing audio capture via a 2 channel Focusrite interface. I think it should be more than adequate.

giving this a watch now, i got a 6th gen but never used it much. Couldn't stop using the t460 that im typing this on right now haha
Thanks!! My t480 is my daily driver, but as ull see in the video, I've been exclusively using the x1c4g for the last 4-5 weeks, and towards the end a way in which I can use it for everything I need(spoiler alert ⚠️ 📢 in involves using a shadow pc)

@@chimpinator005 discount electronics had a deal on their website 10 scrap laptops for $100. They don't have the same deal anymore.
can you upgrade up to 64 gb of ram? can you run win 11 pro with no issues? do you think graphics are good for CAD?
sadly, none of these things
To elaborate: ram is soldered, so whatever u machine comes with, that's it. U *could* force install win11 but the latest win11 updates coming will mean it will stop working, and regarding graphics, it's Intel HD 520 gpu, so not great for cad

you cannot type it gets random keystrokes
just DO NOT get it.
that soudns like the Keyboard needs replacign or motherboard damage. i have seen similar symptoms with water damage to kb on an x1 carbon
@@TechDave nop is a BUG
if you attach a keyboad external to it then this happens if you remove it
lenovo has an article about it.
