I'll consider reading it, he does look like a pretty awesome villain! But yeah, even though I didn't know anything about him it is simply because I don't trust Sony and their villains. If it was adapted by any other studio then I would have a bit more faith, but even then, it's mostly just the premise of it leaning more cosmic is an immediate turn off for me, even if it is a promising story. I would just prefer to have Knull in Spider-Man 5 or something, but we'll see what happens!

@@Machuw knull isn't really a "cosmic" threat in that comic run, it feels more like a regular old alien invasion, just a really powerful one. Like if galactus or the chitauri invaded earth. Totally reasonable to be concerned to have a villian like him show up in one movie without much of a buildup.

Yes, exactly! I totally agree. It took so long to get to this point, and I don't want them to waste his potential even more. We have the perfect setup for a grounded, street-level story for Peter, and I don't want to get another cosmic story already. I do miss our classic Spidey side characters like Harry, and Gwen, and I wish these people would get more story instead of people like Iron Man for sure. It sucks that this feels like such a big ask, when it's kind of the core of Spider-Man, but we'll have to see what they do I guess!

Exactly! Going from Avengers to a cosmic spidey movie to another avengers movie is gonna feel a little too crazy IMO. We need those smaller scale stories to remind us that these are just regular people, but we'll see what they do!

Yeah... probably, but Ant-Man & The Wasp came right after Infinity War and was a prequel, so maybe there's a chance! But most likely it will be multiversal related haha

@@Machuw yes, people can only be proven wrong when the work itself is actually good. Being a success, having a comeback story is the ultimate best form of revenge because then you have clear evidence that something actually works and no one can say otherwise. People who are still haters after the fact will mostly be ignored and soon will die out. That's just the way things are.

@@Machuw its not even being anti-gunn, its just bandwagon jumping and hating for the sake of it, after all, a majority of people preferred his version of suicide squad and lets not pretend, that zack snyder, or henry cavill, were as loved, during their respective tenures, as after the release of snyders justice league, when the writing was on the wall, that cavill probably wasnt going to reprise the role. same with the casting of affleck, ledger, keaton, etc (and the reverse of that situation, ironically, being the case, for jared leto)- i find the term normies pretty ironic, considering that i can remember a time, when these characters werent considered cool at all and so many normies suddenly proclaiming to be life long fans, after 2008, with the release of both TDK and iron man. the internet is full of proof of self proclaimed critics backtracking on opinions, to go with current trends and simply acting, like they never put out a positive review, for something thats not considered trendy, which only requires collective amnesia, despite the proof being on the net (remember jahns originally digging the last jedi?)- this hivemind mentality has spread, to a point, where i regularly encounter videos, titled i watched x, so you dont have to. my point is, that no one should ascribe that much importance, to whats considered the right take, if no one can make up their own mind anymore, no one will be able to create new art, in turn- and im sure some would prefer, that a.i. takes over, yet despite all my displayed cynicism, id ask....isnt it about time, that we get a superman movie, that actually inspires hope and a positive outlook? without the fourth wall meta joking and pointless 2 minute cameos, of a deadpool vs wolverine, that regularly destroys any emotional impact....id like to watch something sincere, with honest sentiment, even though, or maybe especially because, it doesnt reflect the trying times, we live in. lets allow ourselves, to possibly be positively surprised, is all im saying.

The fact that you think movies should always be documentary-style realism shows that people like you don't understand what the art of film is about. Art in general has the ability to reflect and display images, sounds, and experiences that are not of our world. That includes a lot of fantasy stories and concepts. There is never a limit to what a film can be about. It's largely the West, and specifically Anglo-Saxon culture, that has made people think that fantasy narratives are stupid and have no place in film. This is a moronic idea that needs to be challenged at all costs. Superman does not require "too much suspension of disbelief." What Superman requires is a filmmaker who takes his mythology seriously and is more than willing to give it the gravitas it begs for, as it was in the original source material. Zack Snyder was that person and can still be that person. James Gunn is not and never will be.

Every single DCEU movie that Zack Snyder wasn't involved in failed at the box office. The first wave of DCEU movies that Zack Snyder was involved in, even in their compromised forms (e.g., Batman V Superman being butchered by a half hour, David Ayer's Suicide Squad being completely mutated into some other movie he didn't make), made more money than the MCU's first phase of movies. After the first Aquaman movie, the DCEU movies that were all trying to be MCU-like failed at the box office. And the DCEU didn't end because it couldn't continue. It's because, for some insane reason, James Gunn was put in charge, and his out-of-control ego made him throw the DCEU away so he could start his MCU-like version of DC. This MCU cynical hipster garbage of taking sincerity out of fantasy filmmaking and turning into $200 million parodies has to end. The box office when Zack Snyder was involved proves there is an audience for sincere cinema in fantasy-based films. And that is why James Gunn's DC cynical hipster universe must fail.

@@owenwestworld WB deserves to fall. What was done to Zack Snyder was beyond dirty. And they won't even allow David Ayer to get his guy of Suicide Squad out there. All these different people in charge for some bizarre reason wanted to turn the DC movies into MCU-like nonsense. And yet, if you look at the box office, DCEU movies made after they screwed over Zack Snyder and wanted to make the DCEU into MCU-like all flopped. James Gunn's Suicide Squad movie was a total disaster at the box office and at streaming. They just are not getting the message.

I find what you're saying odd because GOTG has probably been one of the most sincere movies the MCU has made. Yes, the characters are funny and make jokes, but they're also treated like real people with tragic backstories. Nobody else has made five universally liked comicbook projects in a row.

Star Lord isn't a bumbling clown like Gunn made him. "Nobody else has made five universally liked comicbook projects in a row." What the hell are you talking about? The only people that like Gunn's movies and MCU movies in general are people that never read the original comic books and/or hate superhero/fantasy movies and want all of them to be parodies of themselves and will attack any superhero movie outside of Batman if they take themselves seriously even though that's how the source material was. Gunn and the MCU constantly disrespect the source material and turn everything into a hipster jokefest. That's not how the original comic books were.

All rotten tomatoes does is give the percentage of how many people recommend the film. you might like a film that has a 20% score that means you are that 20% that recommends it 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

@@chrisszostek6700 Rotten Tomatoes is not used for that. Rotten Tomatoes is used as if whatever score it has is the correct opinion of a movie. That's garbage and many people have fallen for it and keep bringing it up. It's not relevant to real discussions about movies and anyone who uses it as a real metric of quality is a person with no credibility because they are admitting that they can't think for themselves.

The films that Snyder and Nolan made was the best, they could have continued it and made it better than the MCU

Yeah, they definitely do a version where it's both! You're right. I personally feel like that would be a little weird and if they're calling him Victor, they should just have him be a whole new person, instead of an alternate Tony that just so happens to be named Victor Von Doom. But I'm not opposed to it! I do have some faith in the Russos with that.

Yeah, that's what I mean! I'm just trying to say. I just think most audiences generalize the mediocre superhero movies into just every superhero movie. I think there have been soooo many mediocre films, that they just associate them together and generally are less excited about them unless it's from a franchise they can trust like Deadpool, Invcinbile, The Boys, etc, or unless they get good reviews. I'm just saying that building this universe will definitely have an uphill battle due to the amount of terrible superhero movies there have been lately.

@@Machuw yes it’s brilliant, there’s so many greatly impactful moments, and Jon is such a good actor that if you pay attention to the story enough you can read his characters thoughts and intentions literally through his acting that’s what I think

It almost kinda feels like some of the people who are completely dogging on the movie and completely missing the point and message of the film. It’s okay to not like it, but some of what I’ve heard people criticizing it for makes me think they didn’t even watch the movie or take time to understand what it’s telling you

Very well written! I completely agree with you. I did go into the mindset of just wanting a character study, and not caring about how much Joker stuff is done in the movie, and I think that does play a part in why people don't like it. If you go in wanting a mastermind criminal with Joker and Harley, then you're gonna hate the movie. So yeah, I agree, people can definitely dislike the movie for what it is, but there are a lot people hating on the film for something that it's not. It's unfortunate, but I'm glad there are other people that are appreciating it!

@@cdarklock Great insight! It's so cool how you can get so much implied background on a character like that. But I totally agree with you. With the first movie, we can see how much he craves the validation and adulation of others at his comedy shows. And yeah his weird ballet thing he does as a form of expression in the first movie is important and feels natural to lead into a musical for the second movie. I definitely implore you to watch the second one as soon as you can! And once you do, I'd love to know ur thoughts afterwards!!
