    Yeah, to be honest, I'm enjoying Ahsoka. I get that it's a little slow but I just really enjoy seeing all the clone wars and rebels characters again lol

    They aren't going to be happy, ezra is gone, thrawn could return to start a war, Kannan is gone. She's ahsoka the grey at the start and becomes ahsoka the white

      Well, I get them feeling sad about that stuff, but besides Sabine, it doesn't quite feel like anybody is feeling anything. They just come off as emotionless to me rather than sad, but that's just my takeaway.

    I enjoyed this show, but the atmosphere seems a bit off. Think you did the explaining very well.

      Glad I could help clear things up! The slow pace/tone is definitely affecting the atmosphere of the show, but I hope it switches up in the latter half of the season.

    Oh thank you, finally someone shares my opinion! Between all the positive reviews on the one side and the criticisms on the other that seem to always hover around the topic of "woke" I was starting to wonder whether it was my fault that I was not seeing what most other people apparently see in the show.
    I come from a similar background, grew up with Clone Wars, wasn't particularly fond of Rebels. Although I gotta say, I found things to enjoy in most of the more recent Star Wars shows. Yes, Andor stood out as the best one by far, but even Kenobi, Mando S3 and BoBF were mostly entertaining to me. Not brilliant but decent enough for me to gloss over the flaws if I want to. Ahsoka on the other hand has somehow lost me more and more with each episode and you hit the nail on the head as to why it kept feeling so... off to me:
    Most of all the joyless atmosphere and acting. I get that the show wants to ponder some serious themes and the trauma that the characters carry, but Ahsoka having lost all the charisma that defined her? That felt jarring, especially in how she treats Sabine. This aloof, cold attitude is something I still haven't managed to connect to the Ahsoka I know and love. She of all people should know better how to treat a disciple. It doesn't fit her character at all in my eyes. Ahsoka's attitude more than anything else broke my immersion constantly.
    Then the pacing and the dialogue. The way you describe how the episodes are too short and yet too slow at the same time, that's precisely it. It's been difficult to watch more often than not because of that. Plus the flat delivery of lines paired with the breaks between them makes nearly every conversation feel awkward regardless of its content.
    I'm glad you still have retained some optimism before the last couple of episodes. I too genuinely wanted to like this show but after five episodes, two of them directed by Filoni himself, I've lost hope that his vision for the character of Ahsoka will align with how I see her anytime soon. And sure, he's Filoni so he's in the right either way and I'm probably wrong, but try as I might I can't change that feeling. I'd love for the coming episodes to change my mind but I'm keeping my expectations low. Maybe I won't have to groan audibly at flat, clunky, out of character dialogue going forward, that'd be a start.
    Anyways, thanks for sharing your opinion and putting into words some of the things I've been feeling better than I could have. Hearing that almost had a therapeutic quality :)

      Oh yeah, for sure! I completely despise all the channels and videos complaining about things being "woke" lmao. Glad I could help clear things up, and I do agree that Ahsoka should know how to treat a Padawn better with her experiences and it just feels weird that she's acting the way that she is. It is werid how Ahsoka feels so out of character despite Filoni being the one to write showrun the entire series. I completely get not having a lot of faith in the last few episodes, so at least your expectations are lower haha. I actually really enjoyed episode 7, so I hope that the finale could do something for me. Thanks for leaving your thoughts!

    I haven't seen the show yet, mainly because I don't have that big of an attachment to clone wars or Ahsoka, but I do like Star Wars (generally). I agree that they've been a letdown lately and it sucks to hear it still hasn't improved 😪

    • @Machuw

      Yeah, I still think it's better than most Star Wars things nowadays, so I'd at least give it a try!

      Give it a try and make up your own mind I'd say. There are so many people with so many different opinions, especially in star wars, so you might enjoy sth that sb (in a video for example) dislikes.

      I enjoyed seeing Anakin in episode 5 but it made no sense and did nothing for the story. It's like they dangled Hayden in front of us like "hey remember" instead of telling an actual good story. I really enjoyed the first 4 episodes tho. Baylan is awesome

    I also had a similar opinion about Ahsoka. It felt like a Rebels + Clone Wars arc that is so-so. The beginning was a struggle for me, but then it became interesting, and then it kind of fell towards the end. I do think it was more entertaining than Obi-Wan or The Book of Boba Fett, however, I can’t seem to rank it any higher.

    -1:33 Here she didn't know Anakin was Vader yet which is the main reason I think why she behaves like you said up until episiode 5 of "Ahsoka". Also, as far as I know "Ahsoka" happens about 9 to 10 years after her apperance in Rebels (excluding the ending Rebels timejump). Comming from episode "Ahsoka" episode 5 and the Vader + Ahsoka Rebels episodes it gives of the impression that she carries quite a bit of fear and guilt with her about his fall and maybe also fears she or her padawan could turn out like him, since she thinks her legacy is one of death and war. So regarding all that I can definitely see her behaving differently in her show.
    -2:25 I like when show's (especially in star wars) don't just focus on 1 character (which is why I really liked clone wars). I think Disney should stop to name their shows only after 1 character so that people aren't confused whe the focus isn't entirely on that 1 character.
    -2:31 I mean, here she is still the main focus. In BoB they literally took all the attention away from Boba for episodes and that doesn't happen here, so comparring them like that is a bit harsh imo.
    -5:05, 6:12 That wasn't an issue for me at all. Temuera and Hayden are the live-action counterparts to the animated characters. You'd probably wouldn't like watching a new clone wars episode but suddenly Hayden voices Anakin instead of Matt. I also don't think that the live-action actors did a terrible job at delivering their lines, like you say here. It sounded totally fine to me but Rexes voice was a bit quiet at first comparred to everything else going on at that moment.
    -6:22 On one hand I wish we go to see the set pieces more, on the other these are foggy memories and the smoke makes for some pretty cool shots that aren't as possible without the smoke imo.
    -8:04 There was an entire scene with Anakin and Ahsoka fighting on Mustafar after the siege of Mandalore that was cut btw, in which Anakin apparently would have shown her that she couldn't have prevented his fall, therefore taking her guilt away. So there technically there were more "clone wars" style scenes in there.
    -9:24 I think this is exactly what Anakin meant when he said "You lack conviction!". He wants her to stop being as passive and stagnant, to stop playing it save all the time (regarding her padawan for example) and wants her to be happy, take more risks and be more decisive and like her old self again + to move on from her fear and guilt regarding his turn imo. Also, the focus was quite a bit on Sabine AND Ahsoka's relationshio, not just Sabine alone as you seem to imply here. It was intriguing to me what happened between them for their relationship to be so strained which we got part of the answer to in episode 4 (aka Ahsoka apparently being partially responsible for Sabine's family (from Rebels) dying).
    -10:12 That was a great shot imo that doesn't just look cool but also shows that he now actually appears to her as Vader (without the suit). The 1st shot seems to show Ahsoka's fear and guilt over what happened with Anakin turning bad, but since in the shot this time Anakin appears and actually confronts her in Vader's form, she literally has to face her guilt and fear directly once again. I think with her winning and not killing him she decided to not follow in his footsteps, to live and probably therefore move past of (a cignificant part of) that fear and guilt that dragged her down all this time. Therefore to me it seemed like Anakin now finally being a "the father" like figure (like on Mortis) is in contol of both his light and dark side with which he taught her that lesson: to "live" (literally), continuing to live on (metaphorically) and stop letting herself be dragged down with guilt over sth she couldn't have changed and that him turning evil dosn't determine her own legacy, which is why she was more happy at the end of episode 5.
    I feel like just dismissing this shot/scene as "just fan service" misses the point of it a bit imo.

      Loved reading all your thoughts! I appreciate when people are able to articulate well about why they may not agree with me or why they like something that I don't. I also wasn't that aware that Ahsoka takes place nearly a decade after Rebels, so thanks for that clarification; although, I wish the show would display more of an intent that Ahsoka is different because of reasons such as fear and guilt, but we're still kind of just presuming that's why she's acting the way she is. And since this video, I've come to enjoy the show a bit more with episodes 6 and 7. Hopefully the finale sticks the landing for me.

    The Ahsoka series should have definitely been animated.I believe the only reason it's live action was that they could get Hayden Christensen to be Clone Wars Anakin.There's nothing compelling imo about the series it relys solely on references.The concept of travelling to a whole other galaxy has been completely wasted, there isn't anything that indicates that this galaxy is any different to the main galaxy.Jedi Survivor did a way better job at the different galaxy concept through tanalorr

    • @Machuw
      @Machuw  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I completely agree! I mean, it's cool seeing Hayden Christensen in live action as Clone Wars Anakin, but, like, that's the whole appeal. It just stops there and doesn't do anything all that interesting. It's ironic how the show is completely reliant on the viewer having already seen the animated stuff to enjoy it, but it just makes me wish what I was seeing on screen was either completely original or just animated. And I do agree that Jedi Survivor does a better job about exploring the galaxy, granted it's a video game though.

    My problem with Ashoka is the changes made from Rebels, by the same creator of Rebels, for the medium screen. Fool, if you wanted Sabine as a Jedi, you should have made her one in Rebels. If you wanted to hook up Hera and get her pregnant, you should have started it on the show,instead of the close friend momma/daddy role to the kids and droid. It was supposed to be an extension of Rebels. Now, it just feels like a different show and the Disney Star Wars normie shills are gonna eat this plate of poo up too, because it features Rosario Dawson and has supposedly George Lucas's right hand man, Dave where's my cowboy hat when I'm effeminate as hell Filoni running it.
    It's straight trash to me. Kanan was try to teach Sabine how to use the lightsaber to control the lightsaber. How are you gonna retcon your own work this deeply?

    • @PhoenixDawnX77
      @PhoenixDawnX77 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Clone Wars are tied to Revenge of the Sith as my favorite Star Wars properties as well. I just didn't think Rebels wouldn't matter......at all.

    • @Machuw
      @Machuw  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I really don't get why Filoni is taking this approach with Ahsoka by just continuing off of Rebels. I'm pretty sure the show voluntarily ended, so yeah, if he wanted all that stuff to happen, he should've done in Rebels.
