I saw a print of Highlander at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood many years ago with the director present, and at the end the audience asked: "What ending was that?!". The ending included MacLeod speaking with Brenda and there was no Sean Connery voice over. The director had no idea what the audience was talking about! He guessed it was some random cut and print of the movie that was never shown before. There was nothing else different about the movie. Maybe somebody else has seen this besides me..?

wow. impressive work. now that i have context with your A.I assisted re-creations, i can see why these scenes were cut..but.. i wish those scenes weren't lost. from what i read they were lost in a fire.

I'm sorry guys, but after 16 years of this crap(and knowing the history of the franchise, the tendency of Davis/Panzer to jump the gun, the overall uncertainty of the widespread rights to the franchise and certain specific aspects of it, my own dealings with TPTB over the last 30 years, and the ongoing "we're closer than we've ever been" false starts on this project), I have absolutely *_NO_* faith in seeing this remake actually get made before 2030. Unless they actually offer up some evidence of a finalized script, a secured budget, a filming schedule, and on-set production shots(to prove that they actually _have_ started filming), it's *_ALL_* clickbait to me🤷‍♂️

That's a really interesting experiment and definitely makes me feel like we're getting very close to AI having the ability to recreate these scenes effectively. There are so many stills from the Yung Dol Kim scene, that I feel like it could be rebuilt quite successfully. Most of the actors are still with us (RIP John Polito), so it's possible they could be persuaded to rerecord the dialogue (though it would likely have to be tweaked to filter out some of the changes that come with age). As an actor/writer/stunt performer, I absolutely have my reservations about AI, but I'm also no naive enough to think it's not here to stay and will only get better and easier to use. Also, as I mentioned in a previous comment on another video, I still maintain the Orange scene cannot be part of the Boston Common sequence. The duel happened in 1783 and in the Orange scene, Connor is dressed in late Victorian attire, so the costuming is 100 years apart. It has to be something else entirely. But very cool video and lots to think about. I have always wanted to see the Yung Dol Kim scene, and something like this may the only way to do it. Now...I just need AI to get to the point where I can replace Mads Mikkelsen with Johnny Depp in "Secrets or Dumbledore" 😂

The episode “Turnabout” had me scratching my head. First of all, why is Michael Moore wearing glasses, and why doesn’t anyone in the episode point this out? He has 20/20 vision😂 Secondly, i wouldn’t have thought an immortal could suffer from mental health issues. Wouldn’t their mind be perfect and capable of healing as well as their body? It’s a good thing that Quentin Barnes didn’t identify as a woman, he’d spend eternity cutting off his junk only for it to keep growing back😅

That was an interesting exercise, but honestly not what I was expecting. I thought since we had so many pictures from the YDK vs Kurgan scene that ALMOST make a full video when put together anyway that you'd use AI to generate the missing in-between bits and then render a full video. I think that's the sort of thing AI would be good for.

Even as an AI sceptic I thoroughly enjoyd this video! Well done, Grant! I enjoyed seeing the process; how you managed to tease out all the successes out of all those hilarious failures. I know the deleted scenes still pictures so well that it was a genuined thrill to see them move and come to life, even if I know that it's not real. I don't think AI will ever be able to replace what was lost, but thanks to your hard work we now have a fascinating glimpse at what they might have looked like. I can't even comprehend what will be possible with the technology this time next year.

One day I’ll be able to watch Superman V with Christopher Reeve, Bullet 2, Tim Burton’s Batman 3, and a Kurgan movie.☺

It be great to see the scenes that was lost and if it’s done by AI with the script words by audio Ai and we got to see the scenes as what it was meant to be when they filmed it originally than I love to watch it

Excellent work, Grant. Even if the AI is a little ‘iffy’ it still gives us a nice insight into what these scenes would’ve looked like. Maybe one day we will see these scenes included in a future anniversary/special edition of Highlander. Who knows. I’d like to think that someone, somewhere still has these lost scenes. A full restoration of Highlander including the lost scenes would be a dream come true.

It’s a great way to spark imagination but will never be original.

Or maybe how to set the cat amongst the pigeons!! the problem is we could end up going down the George Lucas special editions route and adding scenes or deleting scenes that won't please everyone.

I completely agree with Amy, “Nowhere to Run” was a terrible episode of season 1. I was so annoyed watching the episode again recently. Duncan repeatedly goes outside the law when it suits him and when asked if it was Tessa who was raped instead what would he do, he won’t answer. It’s a nightmare for a woman to prove rape and get a conviction in the courts, and when they do, the guy only gets a year or two inside. The legal system js a joke. “Band of Brothers” was my favourite. It was nice to see Duncan truly worried that Grayson was going to beat him. I kinda wish the show had a big bad who pursued Duncan throughout time. He needed his own Kurgan.

Deterministicaĺly, Adrian ended up doing a fantastic lead acting role on a great series, based on a great (3) movie(s). The 4th one was a masterpiece.

Fassbender will be tge villain for 1st film, the kurgan will be built upon in this movie they say that they want a trilogy so the kurgan will be the endgame not the first villain

I’m just finishing up the book atm. The thing that boggles my mind is the sheer incompetence of the producers. Things like suing their distributor before the movie’s release, to refusing to pay for works done, to removing essential scenes, demanding that the prize involve Macleod losing his immortality (for some reason🙄) - against the wishes and advice of the writers, thereby making a worthy sequel impossible to pull off in a satisfying way. Incredible! One could be mistaken for thinking that Davi’s-Panzer were actively trying to sabotage their own movie.

The greatest film novelisation must surely be Revenge of the Sith. I need to seek the Highlander novelisation out though.

I’ve never even tried to make the timelines fit. I’ve always considered them to be in their own separate universes. I applaud everyone for their imagination though🙂

My guess is Fassbender will play Cavill's mentor.

I watched an episode from season 3 of the original Star Trek series the other day. There was a man who was immortal and who had taken various identities throughout human history (some quite famous) and had grown quite depressed with human aggression, and the loses he had suffered. He chose to live in seclusion on a remote planet in the future.

Here’s my pitch for a modern Highlander game: An online multiplayer fighting game with RPG elements in the vein of Mortal Kombat but with swords and a fully 3D fighting arena like Tekken or Soul Calibur. The game works in this way: you have a character creation tool for the player to customise their own immortal. You pick their gender, race, sword type, costume, name, and historical background. The game matches you against random players when you begin who are all at the same skill level as yourself. When you defeat a player their character is destroyed. FOR GOOD. They have to start again with a new character if they wish to continue playing. The victor receives their quickening which means that their stamina and/or strength bar increases appropriately. As players continue to win battles and their strength and stamina meters increase, the historical backdrops behind the players changes, progressing through history until you reach modern day New York where you will face the best players in the world. The backdrops are destructible and can be used during combat. Occasionally the game will randomly throw an unexpected spanner into the works such as noncombatants getting in the way, inclement weather making the terrain slippery, or even the very occasional 3 way fight. The game will feature cross play, meaning PC players will be able to face off against people playing on the Xbox Series consoles, the PlayStation 5 and Steam Deck. The player will also have the option of collecting their defeated foes swords (and using them in future fights) and they and other players will be able to view the Watchers stat screens which will include such things as the character’s name, background, numbers of Quickenings, and uploaded game clips, for rewatchability. Obviously there is a single player offline and local player component as well. This features not only the character creation tool but allows players to pick classic movies characters to play as such as Ramirez or Conner.

I’ve always enjoyed the animated series. The quality is surprisingly high. The theme tune is stuck in my head 🎶

Here’s my idea: Duncan learns over the course of the movie that everything that he’s been told, that he believes about the Prize has been a lie. Immortals are the result of a cosmic/biological imperative; an equation intended to be balanced. Let’s say that nature/God/ whatever, purposed 1000 immortals to be born and live over the centuries - the power and quickening they posses equally distributed among the 1000. They were designed we could say, to rule humanity as a world government of sorts, using their knowledge and wisdom to benefit all of us. However that obviously never came to pass, that understanding, that knowledge had been lost, or purposely hidden. As a result, when an immoral kills another of their kind and takes their quickening, what they are actually doing is working (unknowingly) AGAINST the will of a higher power/purpose. When a single immoral remains, the equation becomes so unbalanced that the power inside that person is too much for a single individual to contain. It is released back into the world and the cycle is repeated again. 1000 more immortals will slowly be born into the world. The trouble for Duncan would be that by the time he learns this only he and another immortal remain - an evil SOB who will not listen to reason, and is intent on taking Duncan’s head. Duncan is forced to fight a battle that he knows will leads to the eventual death of the sole survivor. His plan to is preserve and distribute the knowledge that he has learned about the source so that hopefully future generations of immortals don’t make the same mistakes again. This is made very difficult because Duncan now lives in a future apocalyptic world in which digital media is nonexistent and he has to reply on the written world. How does Duncan ensure that a book he has written is preserved, unaltered, for generations to comes when society has broken down?

It would be cool if they "discover" a way to become mortal.

How about Aliens VS Highlander?😂 An alien gestates inside an immortal and takes on immortal traits. Set in the distant future, Duncan must fight to survive onboard a derelict space station against a team of immortals hunting him and an immortal Alien hunting all of them.

The one change I would make to the movie is the final dialogue of Conner explaining to Brenda that the Prize enables him to experience all the joys of old age such as arthritis, incontinence, and dementia. Seriously, what a terrible reward! Who on earth desires to age into decrepitude and then suffer body failure? 😅

Imagine entering the 20th century from the 16th; it would be terrifying. Cars, airplanes, TV’s etc… all would seem like dark magic. How much adjustment time would one need?

My Highlander 2 pitch: The film begins in New Jersey 1985. The Kurgan fights and beheads Osta Vazilk. We then transition back in time and place to the land that would eventually become Russia. We meet Vitor and get to know him as a young man who is not initially evil. He has shades of grey. He has hopes and dreams as all men have. He discovers his immortality and we, the audience, follow his journey through the centuries intercutting with events in modern day NY 1985 and pre-existing footage already shot for the original movie, the difference being we are seeing things from the Kurgan’s perspective. Clancy Brown, Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery Roxanne Heart, and Beattie Edney would all return. We get to see the Yung Dol Kim fight. As the film progresses we gradually see the events and situations that change and shape Vitor until he becomes the evil character we know from the original movie.

My Highlander 2 pitch: I would make a movie told from the Kurgan’s perspective. Tell his story. When did he discover his immortality, what has he been doing for however many hundreds of years. Was he always evil? That would be boring. It sounds like his childhood was awful from what Ramirez told Conner, but that doesn’t mean he was bad from the start. Maybe events in his life gradually turned him bad jaded. And then I would intercut the new footage with some of the old from the original. The final fight with Russel Nash for example. The opening scene would be Kurgan taking the head of the immoral mentioned in the original film in New Jersey.

I’d rather watch The Source than Highlander 2. H2 has some beautiful art direction and production design and cinematography but i can’t get past the canon destroying narrative. At least half of The Source is a respectable story. 😅

My family had this cable box in the late 90’s (looked like it was from the 70’s, it had wood panelling and everything) that had maybe 10 manual buttons on the front. No remote. While my mother was cooking dinner i started flipping through the channels. I came in on the original move during the garage sword fight scene halfway through. By the time it transitioned to Scotland i was absolutely enthralled.
