Thanks for inviting me on! I hope everyone enjoys this episode!
I just wanted to give an update on the version showing on Cinemax in the US and Canada. Since recording this episode I've found out that it is indeed the US Cut, it includes the wrestling footage and the Bedsoe shot all on HD, but the final prize quickening is the International version. I suspect Fox has used the Blu Ray to reassemble something very close to the US cut, similar to what Studio Canal did for the French DVD I mentioned.

A very fascinating episode. I never knew (in my 24 years of being a Highlander fan) about the Bedsoe ‘coffee scene’. It’s amazing to see new stuff like that and just when you think we’ve seen it all. The 70mm version of Highlander sounds awesome - I’ve only ever seen the deleted scenes in black and white with no sound. I think my ultimate version of Highlander would be the 70mm version, but with all the ‘lost’ footage such as the Yung Dol Kim fight, the Bedsoe/drunk scene etc.
The ‘wires’ scene during the Prize/final Quickening scene always gets a mention. But there’s another goof that some eagle eyed fans might have spotted. When Connor drops his katana the dragon head on the end of the hilt flies off! I’m sure it’s been said that the dragon head was added to the sword as a finishing touch, hence the stud that holds it in place….the prop department clearly didn’t secure it in place properly!

As an aside, adressing the matter of Christophe dubbing himself, he does so on the French DVDs of H3 and Endgame as well. I think I (half) jokingly said on the old Highlander board once that one should make a fan edit of H3 and have all scenes taking place in France in French.

I'm also surprised you guys didn't mention this - the reason the Kate intro scene was cut in the US was because of the burning cross in the background, which in the US is sadly tied to a history of being a symbol of violent racism.

I didn't know that, thanks for the info. Do you have any links that back that up? Not doubting you, it certainly makes sense and I always thought the burning cross seemed odd, but I've not seen that reason mentioned in any memos etc.

That quickening scene was PARODIED in Danger Mouse (2016) and other Fox-Pixar Danger Mouse stuff including Danger Mouse : The Last Mouse Standing (2021) which featured that moment

I knew it!!!! For years I have been saying I remember them adding in sounds from the series when immortals sense one another, but it is not on any of the other DVDs or Blurays. Thanks for this amazing breakdown, I finally feel vindicated haha. Hope you get to do this will all 4 of the films (note that I said 4 films ;) )

The deleted footage from the final Quickening from the 65mm (or 70mm) version shown in 2011 and featured on the Blu-ray & 4K UHD without sound, does that new Special FX footage match up with the U.S. Theatrical Cut or the International Cut?
