About anime, how popular is the Highlander franchise in Japan? I´ve seen some Japanese media with similar topics, like the magical like battle royale plot, where the last survivor gains a prize. The KAmen Rider Tokusatsu series, Kamen Rider Ryuki explores that idea, where the Kamen riders fight each other to the death and the last survivor gains a prize. The Fate anime series seems to explore a plot similar to the Imortals Game, where there Wizards that each summon a mythological hero as their servant from a different class and each wizard master and Hero Servant fight each other for the sake of winning the Holy Grail, not to mention their servants that have darker counterparts called Alters, like Saber Alter, a darker version of Saber, one of the main Heroines of fate Stay night. Not sure if Saber alter can be seen as a reference to the dark Quickning. Some could even call the Battle City arc in Yugioh as a Highlander reference, making the tornament in the city of Domino, the place of the gathering and the duelist winning both the locator card and the opponents rarerest card as some sort of quickning, since the new cards can be used to make their decks stronger

Too bad that The Crow anime never came to fruition, at least we got this one.
