OMG, thank you! For some reason no one on TH-cam has talked about this other than me. I did a watch-a-long a year or so ago where I read bits of the novel and the telex between Panzer and the studio. Can't wait to immerse myself here 🤘 The twist that they couldn't sense each other was a great addition. That flashback with Kastigere is hilarious 🤣 The energy absorbtion is taken to the next level, too. I always said if there was a present day remake that they should have a problem, or advantage if trained properly, around computers The backstories are GOLD. Just to finally learn about the Kurgan's age and past is well worth the price of admission
What a lovely surprise to see Garry on the show. He seems like a really nice guy. I have the novel but it's been quite a while since I read it. From what I remember it was fantastic. My only quibble with the book is that Connor is spelled 'Conner' and he uses a wakizashi instead of a katana if memory serves me right. I shouldn't nitpick now that I've learnt that Garry wrote the book in a fortnight. That's one heck of an achievement!
The name error stems from the script, which also used 'Conner'. I can't see a wakizashi in the versions I have but it would have made some sense in terms of concealability.
@@jonathanferguson1211 Interesting. I’ve just had a quick look and the sword is referred to as a wakizashi on page 303 in my copy of the novel. Granted, it’s not referred to a wakizashi throughout the novel but it is weird how it suddenly changed (seemingly during the final battle with the Kurgan). It also looks like it’s referred to as a samurai sword.
I took Connor's reason for being at the hockey/wrestling match as read. They literally cut between the battle and the match. Explaining this would have been too on-the-nose.
