Great observation Steven. I'm a firm believer that we should be intentional with our card acquisitions. When I first started out, I didn't think about what cards to get. Credit cards used to be just about not carrying cash. That has clearly changed where I seek to get as much value as possible.

You can find danger if you like but I don't even think about it here on the coast. In Nairobi, your typical big city, just practice a bit more care.

I've yet to have a bad experience regarding safety but then again, I don't go looking for trouble when I'm in Nairobi. The coast is a very different vibe.

That is certainly an option and clearly the move for those into points and miles. But what I've been saying on this channel is that the average person just wants to use up their points instead of coming out of pocket. They don't think of cents per point.

@@epeben1 super cool. Namibia - Check!! However, take a peek at Mozambique. Its coastline is spectacular. There are some issues with stability but I don't think that I can stay away!!

You may acquire the cards in any order. If you have imminent travel then be sure to get the strata in advanced of travel.

I Only have 4 inquiries, when I started working on my credit I was ashame because it was 460 that was 3 years ago now I'm at 756 it took a lot of work but I now have 4 credit card Amex, Chase, Discover, now Citi credit card, Thank you for sharing your video with us

Not at all. There is no lounge access with this card. Of course you can always fly business class on Delta to get lounge access 😊 You need Delta status or the Delta Reserve or Centurion card for Delta lounge when it comes to credit cards. Those cards will have a cap on visits per year (10 & 6) come Jan 2025.

Travel protections are back!!

I was just having a bit of fun in the video in that both cards are now CSPs. I however will be breaking them both down in a real comparison video. However for starters, the Citi CSP has better travel categories than the Chase CSP for folk like me who enjoy traveling abroad for more than a week at a time. Hotels here on the coast have the best restaurants so when I head out to dinner, it's usually at a hotel. I'm then able to use Citi CSP's 3X when compared to Chase's CSP at 2X.

You're not allowed to hold 2 Sapphires at the same time. So it makes sense that you were denied. I'd be surprised if they ran your credit because it should've detected that you were not eligible for the card when it checked your SSN. If you've owned the preferred for over a year, you should be able to do a product change to the Reserve but you wouldn't get the bonus if you got a sapphire bonus within the past 48mos.

I consider it a great refresh. Whenever a card adds travel protections, that's a big deal in my book. I love that it's now a CSP because I love anything which disrupts the thinking around Chase.

@@newagain9964 no way! I use 3 Citi Custom Cash cards to get great value. It is my go-to supermarket strategy when in the US. I'm currently traveling/working in Africa so it is on pause. However, my Citi CSP is getting lots of action because all of the multipliers are travel related for long-term travelers or digital nomads. Citi is a winner for me.

I included in the video the specific set categories which quality. I use gift cards that are specific to those categories. I don't use generic gift cards so I can't speak to the level of data that's provided to the banks. I love to extract value but I keep it to the point that I can't be accused of misuse and abuse.

Technically you may hold all 4 of the Citi AA cards. You can't have too much velocity with card acquisitions else Citi will deny you but not because you want more than 2.
