    The cards in this video happen to be what I'm taking with me. You should feel free to insert the cards which work for you, but I recommend that you follow a similar process of identifying what you'll be doing on your trip to help identify your card needs. You might prefer IHG or Marriott. You might not care about the Centurion and Sapphire lounges, and you may be heading to a destination where Priority Pass lounges are awesome.

      Thanks, will follow the identifying process, of course

    Great video man! I like how you laid out a strategy that started with what you need for upcoming trips and then choosing the best cards that fit. Not the other way around!

    I dropped the CSR for the Ritz-Carlton, which got me in to the BOS Sapphire lounge, and unlimited authorized users for free. RC also has Primary CDW and got me an upgrade at the Maui RC this week.

      I wasn't aware that the RC would grant access to the Sapphire lounge. However, I haven't begun my Marriott card acquisition journey as yet so there are obviously lots of perks of the RC that I haven't explored as yet.

    Great video for strategy, and what to choose. I have the Citi Premier and IHG Premier for the travel side. Still think the Citi is valuable even without using the $100 dollar credit.

      So what you're saying is that you love card with Premier in the name 😂
      I'm currently traveling Africa, and my Citi Premier is getting a workout! I don't even bother with the premier credit.

      @@RSquared-travel-rewards I am a premier traveler and user haha. I agree on the credit part that the premier is a workhouse, and easily racks money back to justify the annual fee. Cards like CSP, and Autograph journey do not have the best multipliers. The only saving grace they might have is a credit. Citi is not talked about often due to no referals.

    Love your videos! You said you have 20 cards - how do you 1) justify different cards with annual fees that overlap benefits and 2) manage earning points in different ecosystems? I struggle with branching out and feel like I should earn in one main ecosystem. I realize if you transfer to airline partners this isn’t a big deal. Also struggle to keep and justify many high annual fee cards that overlap. I take advantage of the credits so the effective fees are low. Just seems less efficient. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

      Thanks for the great questions.
      1 - First off and to be completely transparent, I have TH-cam channel (though tiny -lol) AND I only like speaking about cards that I have firsthand. So there is a level of tax write-offs I'm afforded and my content is a coming from experience because I hold the cards. However, though fees may be high, I do not apply for cards if I don't get a good or elevated bonus offer. The value of a bonus offer alone can keep you floating for 2+ years on AF cards before getting into any of the credits of the cards. Then you MUST be mindful of downgrade paths to avoid carrying cards where you're upside down on as it relates to annual fees. So there is a healthy balance of weighing signup bonuses, credits and downgrade paths.
      2 - Not only do I earn in multiple ecosystems it's by far the most effective way because there isn't a single ecosystem which gets it all right. As you've said, as long as your primary goal is to transfer out to partners then it is in your best interest to use cards regardless of ecosystems which provide the best value for a given use-case. Sure it is easy and clean to play in one ecosystem but I'd argue that you're leaving points and miles on the table by adopting that approach.
      Hope that helps.

    Thanks. I assume that the cards mentioned are the ones that you take physically with you beside all others in your electronic wallet? There's no need for cash when going to the "countryside"? Which card would you take with you for ATM withdrawals?

    • @RSquared-travel-rewards
      @RSquared-travel-rewards  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Countryside? Perhaps you missed when I stated that this is a travel setup for a trip to an island in the Caribbean. When I travel internationally, I always need to have physical cards because some establishments may not take mobile payments.

    • @wigandweirich308
      @wigandweirich308 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you, I got it. However, when I go abroad and especially for local tours to the "countryside" (here in the Caribbean) there I always needed some cash and I think I will also need some cash (for drinks, food etc.) in the future because a number of "locations" will not accept cards. Thus and again, how do you manage to get cash when you go abroad (which cards or just bringing cash with you or whatever)?@@RSquared-travel-rewards

      I just realized that I didn't answer the ATM question. I will be taking my Capital One debit card with me for ATM withdrawals to avoid fees.

    • @wigandweirich308
      @wigandweirich308 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. As I do not plan for US debit cards, will use my German Eurowings Visa Gold or my revolut debit or Visa credit card (all without foreign transaction fees and no cash advance) then for cash withdrawals.@@RSquared-travel-rewards

    Already posted a comment earlier, but does the citi premier have issues overseas due to fraud, and declining. Heard that is the case. Wanted to ask you as someone that has used it often overseas.

    • @RSquared-travel-rewards
      @RSquared-travel-rewards  หลายเดือนก่อน

      My Citi Premier is a serious work horse when traveling Africa. I have yet to encounter a single decline. Ironically, I have had 2 declines back in the U.S. with my Custom Cash. I just filed up my motor bike with gas and light grocery shopping. Never an issue for me. I'm heading to South Africa in a couple weeks so will see how that goes but I always alert Citi regarding new countries.
