Major Update to BILT Status for 2024!

- Each time I make a video about the BILT Mastercard, I'm left thinking how great the card is and that I hope the benefits will continue.
The card continues to offer great value, but as a credit card optimizer, I'm always interested in status whenever it is achievable because it offers elevated perks.

That’s why I like legacy companies to be my main ecosystem, like American Express. They’re a bank and they’ve been doing this for almost 200 years. Classic cards like Gold and Platinum are still prestigious and don’t get nerfed.
We suspected changes would be on the horizon and here we go. BILT ought to offer another everyday multiplier if they wish to make BILT status attractive. Most will not put $25K in dining on this card given that many of us hold the AmEx Gold card. Is BILT forcing us to rethink the Gold card? 😊
I use BILT because of rent and never thought about status but I now see what you mean.
Try to achieve whenever it works with your existing spending lifestyle.
I thinks cards like this (and the VX) are structured in a way to bring you into the ecosystem and then they gradually get nerfed via increased fees and reduced / more difficult to use benefits and credits. Like the VX, I don’t see how the card can exist in its current form but everyone should use all of the benefits while they can! 😀
I couldn't agree more. I've been extracting all the benefits while they last. The VX might be more impactful when/if it gets nerfed given that it has created a group of travelers who devise their travel strategy around it. But yes, get the value while you still can. I expect free priority pass to shrink to 1 AU or a fee to add AUs in 2024.
This is such stupid fear mongering. I got news for you buddy, every card is going to get nerfed going into 2024 because the fed is about to fuck over every single bank when interest rates shit the bed.
The truth is none of these cards are worth it past the sign up bonus for 90 percent of people. Team Cash back was always the right choice.

Just got the bilt this month. Luckily, i think ive figured out which bills to add to bilt to get the $25000. Silver is easy. Just 2 of my reocurring payments takes care of that. But it took some strategy to figure out how I'm gonna reach gold by december. Just waiting until end of march to reach my bonus for sapphire preffered. Then its full speed ahead for the last 9 months without spending any more money than i normally would. Plan is to keep Gold status for two years. (2025 and 2026).

I got my BILT card on June 1. I just hit Silver status in December. Frankly I wanted status for the boost on transfer offers on BILT day. I'll be using to transfer to some usable partner the points Ive accrued before my status goes back to blue. I would continue to use it for the rent points and dining points but other than that I think this card is dead for me. What a shame.
Well at least you get to keep your Silver status for all of 2024 and therefore you can look forward to 12 months of benefits and earning on rent. 2025 is the challenge for all of us so who knows what BILT might end up doing.
I'm working on a setup for next year to make this my primary dining card but I need another healthy multiplier that would allow me to put more spend on the card
Wells Fargo Bilt...youtubers ignore the first two words, which are the key to past misbehavior and warn of future dangers.
I should also add that the BILT brand is strong enough on its own. As a BILT card holder, when interacting with the BILT app, you're hard pressed to see any references to WF. Card holders have to use the BILT app (not the WF app) if they wish to take advantage of BILT features and benefits (Dining, rent payments, travel portal etc). There are likely some card holders who might not even be aware that WF is the issuing bank. I'm sure that this is intentional though it was disclosed when applying and when the card was received.

I've grown up. Since that video, I've been obsessing about how best to use the card and have come up with a couple of hacks. I hope you've seen them. This is now the most valuable card in my collection. I'm now targeting BILT platinum status.
I'm mad. I will probably lose my Platinum Status in 2025
It's going to be close for me to maintain Gold but I'll give it a shot. Platinum is out of the question for me.
"Wells Fargo" Bilt rewards...the problem is in the title. TH-camrs say "Amex Gold" and "Chase Sapphire Reserve" but love to ignore the "Wells Fargo" before talking about Bilt.
I can't speak for others but the reason I don't often include Well Fargo when discussing BILT is because BILT is the managing company while WF if the issuing bank. I clearly have no visibility to the nature of this partnership and how much say WF has, but it is different than the other 2 cards you mentioned given that those cards are managed directly but the issuing banks.
However, I do understand your concerns regarding WF. I do from time to time mention WF when discussing BILT. The video before this one, I indicated that I have a WF card in my wallet when referring to BILT.
Yeah this card is overrated and that AF is coming.
We’re seeing the card blow up in real time. BILT really jumped the gun because it’s obvious they want people to spend on the card, and everyone literally just wants to use it for 1 to 1 on rent which is clearly not sustainable.
Probably just going to reach sign up bonuses on rent and eat the 3 percent fee.
This card is not heading in the right direction.
I've gotten a ton of value from this card as it is today, so for me it has been working. The average Joe likely doesn't care about or understand BILT status. Only us small few saw the upside of BILT status so we're disappointed regarding the status changes. Everyone else will just continue using the cards as before. I'm working on potentially incorporating BILT more next year. More to come on that. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel as always 🙏
