Incredible!
Maybe I’m too cynical, but given the track record of, let’s just say, the artistic license of internet videos, I need to see a little more before i believe the shot was actually made. Editing a couple shots together is child’s play, so easy in fact, you can do it on your cell phone. If I’m wrong, that was a helluva shot.
Most of what you are saying is correct. But I was 3 for 8 that day at that distance. Here is a short I made on what it takes to make a shot such as this. th-cam.com/users/shortstUukLcz03-Q I also have plenty of long distance offhand shooting videos on my channel so this was no 1 and done deal. NDR
The comment section makes me sad for the state of this country. Anyone who watches this and believes what they are seeing is real are the same people who bought 600 rolls of toilet paper during the pandemic. You can't even see a "bucket" at 782yds...that's 2,346ft...almost HALF A MILE. A man sized target would be hard to spot at that disctance. Fools.
Sorry but you could not be more wrong. Its a lot easier to see a bucket at that distance than you think. You just never tried. I challenge you to try it. As for stocking up on TP during covid. When I first heard about covid thats what I did. And when the panic buying started I did not see any TP for sale for 6 months. Its was a brilliant move stocking up. NDR
Good video bro.
Did you ever chrono these loads? Maybe I missed it. I'm curious what velocity you were getting
At the time I was launching the 135gr Berger Bullet at 2950fps. I have since reworked the load with another powder and they are leaving at just over 3000fps. NDR
@@nevadadesertrat267 thanks for the reply, that's impressive!
I wonder how many people realize just how impressive this shot is and how much skill it takes
Impressive!
When you see things like this it makes a lot more of western 1800-1900 history make sense - how the battles with native americans went, etc...
You left out the CHAMBERING!!!!
Hmm I guess all I can say is. "I Suck" I will try and do better next time. NDR
@@nevadadesertrat267 I said it jokingly, sorry I didn't put in a 😆emoji. Jeesh!!! sensiTIVE!!!
@@damaryencarnacion4786 You clearly dont know me my reply was meant in a joking matter. As I felt. your comment was. NDR
@@nevadadesertrat267 And your micro-aggressive joke was taken and called out! But, You know? Nobody HERE obviously knows no one. That’s why we all “SUCK”! life’s a bitch!
Pan shot!
WELL DONE!
i want him on my team!
I just hope (trust) that in real life, Tom Selleck could succesfully shoot that distance!
Im here because i saw a coyote at the horizon 😂
That was awesome!
One of my favorite westerns. This is so cool!
too much time in the desert sun bruh
Staged for sure. No witnesses. Could never understand why people are so willing to believe this cramp.
What a Dude? Shoots 700m with an iron sight at standing! 😵
I couldn’t hit that bucket with a scope sitting down
The cynical and doubting side of me is rearing its ugly head. I've shot 700 meters with a Lee Enfiled 3* (Long Branch, 2 land rifling) version. (I bought this brand new about 25 years ago "New old stock, war surplus). Hand loaded 165-grain projectiles. Shooting from prone, using Parker-Hale vernier sights, 700 meters was distinctly possible and scoring 2 or 3 "V Bulls" in ten shots. From memory the target would have been about 18 or 24" and the V bull about 5". But this was prone. Holding a rifle, standing, introduces multiple issues. Even prone, my heartbeat drew the front sight 1 or two target widths laterally. The trigger had to be timed with the diastolic heartbeat phase. I used to be a good shooter - amongst the top in my club. (Always used the Enfield). The other shooters would use custom made ultra expensive guns, that were attached by cables to their shooting jacket. These were serious, lifetime dedicated shooters. I don't think any one of them would have had a ghost of a chance hitting 800 yards, standing. Having said that, I've come across "savants" in my life. People who have natural skills that defy all logic. It could be that this shooter is one of the rare individuals but I don't think the Sharps shot any better than 1 minute of angle and possibly close to 2.5". At 800 yards, the wind is likely to be different from the shooters position, when compared with the target. Coriolis, heat and gyroscopic effects come into play at these extreme differences - which is why snipers have sophisticated equipment and spotters to reduce such effects. I wouldn't volunteer to be a target at 800 yards, having a Sharps aimed at me (nobody would) but I suspect I'd be safe if the (standing) shooter were restricted to 5 shots. Hitting a bucket at 800 yards, consecutively, by a standing shooter. That's quite a task....
Look up billy Dixon Adobe Walls, Shot of the century. Cold bore hit at over 1500yds with a sharps. I was 3 for eight that day. I hit it second shot. The first shot If there was a full size human silhouette card board cutout most likely I would have hit in the arm or hand. I did not just go out there and let the rounds fly. I spent more than 2 months doing dry fire practice with the rifle. It might have been luck but it was manufactured luck. And the luck can be repeated. NDR
Quite certain this guy is a good video showman but no way he is a crack shot. Look at the muzzle movement as he breaks the trigger, he couldn’t hit that bucket at a hundred yards.
You could not be more wrong. I practiced more than 2 months dry fire practice with the rifle. It would be nice to get the barrel to calm down and not move. But I cant do that. What I did was learn how to control the movement and I did that with the dry fire practice. Its all about the timing. NDR
So at 782 yds the the bullet is moving so slow you could probably catch it in the bucket..🙃I hunted with a fella that worked at the factory in Big Timber. He made out that those guns were like a 50 cal..He kept saying point blank, point blank..They drop a huge amount from 0 to 782...I was thinking about 5 ft..I don't know but they had him fooled..The peep is maybe 1.5 inches from the top .. I told him over and over that it was a huge amount of drop but he continued to argue no..they are what they are..A heavy rifle..that shoots slow..I think everyone that wants to get in line to own one should ...
Add this to your discussion with your body. The shot of the century. 1874 Billy Dixon at Adobe Walls. At over 1500yds he knocked an Indian off his horse. He did it with a Sharps 50. NDR
Not buying it. B.S. click bait. 782 yards, lol. Not even that far. Get another job Mr. Rat. Disgusting!
I am not selling anything or making any money. I am just sharing. For the record I am retired. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. NDR
Who knows if he even hit it. Knowing the internet and social media there is probably someone shooting a bucket with a bb gun 4.3 seconds after his shot, and how is there a microphone there. These click bait money warriors are getting tiresome.
Claim what you want. I have off hand shooting videos out to a mile on my channel. So this is not some one off click bait video. Also that is why I always zoom out the Target camera so you can get some prospective on distance. As for a bb gun used to claim hit. If you shoot steel targets regularly as I do. You know what it looks like when the steel gets hit. NDR
Let’s talk buckets - in the movie that was a wooden bucket. Probably made of oak, as that would have been a common item on British warships, and available in Australia as saleable goods. Also the bucket staves would be roughly 1/4-1/2 inches thick. So punching a hole through the side of a tin can is considerably different than punching through 1/4 in of oak. So having the bucket flip after being hit (twice as the bullet passed through) is not unreasonable.
Jesus 5 minutes of talking just getting on with it already
It's a movie
Its a shooting video about mythical movie shot. NDR

Actually the ftlbs of energy was pretty low for tge 454 casull, more like a heavy 44 mag at 1300-1400 ft lbs. I have ammo with 1,900 fy lbs of energy!

Greeting from Hungary! Salute!
Of course Quigley was 100% Hollywood fiction. The odds of a first shot hit at that range is almost zero with that rifle because of it's plunging trajectory. Then there is wind, and shooting offhand....
Only Quigley match shoot is in Montana USA.
Yep
It's a Russian model, Sir! Dearest Greetings ❤

Nice to see you back like watching your videos
Excellent shooting NDR. What part of Nevada is that area located? If you don't mind saying. I also don't understand when people say micro grove is not accurate. I own a model 336T in 30-30 with a 18" micro grove barrel. Bought new in 1983. All I shoot now are coated cast bullets. It hits everything its pointed at. Your videos have great content. Looking forward to your next video Brother!
I am in the north west part of Nevada NDR
