You're my idol, man! 1000+ yards with an SKS, with iron sights, and using commercial ammo. I watch and greatly enjoy all your videos. I'm a retired law enforcement firearms instructor and I'm about ten years older than you. I've always had excellent eyesight. That is up til about ten+ years ago. I still see excellently out to infinity, but my eyes will no longer focus well from the tip of my nose out to a little past arms length. Which is why all my long guns and some of my handguns have some form of optic on them. I'm down by Kingman Arizona and would love to get out and shoot with you if the opportunity ever presents itself. Anyway, thanks for all the great videos.

If you are ever in northern Nevada let me know maybe we could get together and send a few down range

@@nevadadesertrat267 That sounds great. Hopefully, one day we can make it happen.

It would be great if havasu had a known 1000 yard line range here.

@@hoffmiermp There is some BLM land round Havasu. I shoot almost exclusively on BLM these days. I wish you luck finding a good spot.

Thank you -- I won't laugh and call the SKS rear sight graduations "overly optimistic" ever again!

Good shooting I think with the humidity here on the coast it would be impossible to see the target that far away not that I am much good past 200yards

You might be surprised. It has been a very wet winter here. Also the afternoon thunderstorms have the humidity averaging about 60 percent. It didnt seem to bother me with open sights. but when I was shooting at a mile with my 06 I was totally getting whipped trying to read the mirage through the scope to call the wind. I was also down around 8 power to keep the target from dancing too much.

Now this will not help you while your shooting, but here on the east coast I have set up a video camera directly behind myself. Zoom in some on the target with the video camera. When you review the footage you can see the bullet all the way to the target. Sometimes you see the back of the bullets sometimes the vapor trail. It makes for an awesome video.

sounds neat, thnx! i have seen .22lr slugs buzz to the target through my old Weaver 2x10-40mm scope in the right light. kinda neat.

Not having a spotter, it has help me a couple of times to be able to review the footage after a day of shooting. Especially on those shots,? Where I had no idea what happened.

Nice shooting, looks fun! Yeah..ppl be like, "Dude..with a caliber like that, you'd have to rainbow it in". Well..when looking at a vastly exaggerted by necessity ballistics chart that's printed on ppr..it sure looks that way. but..seeing you shoot the fabulous SKS..there's no pointing the thing at the sky and all that, lol.

What ammo? Yugo (M67) is good ammo but not boat tail. You need BT 7.62x39 for even better results at 1000 m

Get yourself a spotter to help out...if I was close I would.

The only friend I have that is somebody that would come out and shoot with me like this lives in a state to the west of me. He is an only child and his aging parents dont afford him the time to come out and shoot with me anymore.

I love your channel , I say this becausee I want you to know I am not arguing with you when you say bing 1000 meters. However
some of those "bings" are skip hits . You know when the round hits the ground and skips back into the target. Some are direct
hits. This is what I see when I look at your videos. No matter what I think you doing a great job and I love these videos.

For the record I dont have an issue if you see something and want to mention it. I am not trying to lie. And if we don't agree that does not make you wrong.
The first hit/ding was a skip in. I meant to make a note of it on the video but forgot. I apologize for that. Also I am not using a scope in this vid so if I hear a ring all I know is the target got hit but not how the bullet got there. Until I watch the video and make a call. I did leave out 1 skipin, a hit on the target stand, and a couple solid hits plus misses. I try and maintain a hit miss ratio on my videos without making it too long. In my mind I am trying to show the good with the bad. Thats why I left the one skipin in and a couple hits out. As for the last 4 hits/dings they look like solid hits to me. One of them has a weak ding. I did watch it a couple times and it does look like a solid hit on the target. But by listening to it I believe It has to do with how the Mic works on the security camera. Basically just like the gunshots the mic tones it down and sometimes I believe the ding is so loud the mic tones it down. But if somebody wanted to disagree I understand. For the record when I do the off hand shooting the first thing when I get back to the trailer is load the target camera and make sure its a solid hit. Of all the hits I dont want any chance or to minimize the chance of somebody calling me on it.

Please tell me where in this video I was being unsafe? I am always open to criticism. Especially when it comes to gun safety.
