    Really like you guys but you should have got the cat neutered before she had kittens and you've had absolutely ages to have Ella neutered . You know the issues there in Portugal and you've spoken about them yourselves. I hope you've neutered all your male and female cats and will be neutering any puppies you keep as well as Ella.

    That was me with the pollination comment.💟 Great job! (no worries if it doesn't survive, we've all been there) The earlier you can pollinate in the morning, the better. You could also remove the male flower and take off the petals, then use the stamen directly into the female flower. This year, for everyone, the weather is not cooperating. Here in New England, US, we've had so much rain I held off planting my tomatoes for a bit. 💖💖💖

    All members of the fig family secrete latex. It can be irritating to the skin, but it is harmless to eat because it gets neutralized by the natural acid in the digestive tract. Figs are so easy to propagate and yield fruit in just a few years! Carlos & Charlotte, this was a very nice and entertaining video, and I loved the mix of activities. It really shows rural Portuguese life and how it can be enjoyed. Alll the best! Cathy

    Courgettes: need a lot of water, you can trim the lower leaves for airflow and to give room to the other plants growing nearby, I find helping the flowers pollenate by using a small artists paintbrush or q-tip/cotton swab early morning increases the chances of more courgettes. Fig jam looks good!

    • @TheSunnySaudadeProject
      @TheSunnySaudadeProject 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yh I read this about the water but had to cut back on watering on the bed next to it as these were lower down the hill so I don’t think it’s that. I think it’s probably the fertilisation like you said. Might have a go tomorrow morning. Didn’t know about trimming the lower leaves so will do this… and may attempt a second time at making courgette flute 😂

    Hello, interesting to see how you make figjam. How i make jam is 1kg of figs and 1 kg of sugar, no ad of water. First you put in your figs than cover with the sugar. Let sit for some hours or overnight in de fridge. Then boils until done= +- 10 min. Put in the jar, close the lid, flip the jar on the lid for +- 15min, flip again and let cool down. It will seal.

    The mimosas are coming back so fast. I think if you cut the tall branches of the fig it will grow out more instead. This way you can reach the figs better as well. Like your olive trees you cut the suckers on the bottom so all the energy goes to the top branches. Anne of All Trades TH-cam channel has a video called You’re probably killing your fruit trees. She has someone show her how to properly prune the trees. It’s so helpful. I think the arborist she had on the video also has a channel.

    • @TheSunnySaudadeProject
      @TheSunnySaudadeProject 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yup they are so invasive. Someone was supposed to dig some up back in February but for some reason it never happened. As for the fig trees I think it’s something we just have to do each year. The previous owners didn’t do it at all by the looks of it. I have a book on how to cut back every tree you can think of so I think we will do a hard prune this year and train it better for the future 😊
