- This area in front of the house was a real mess! We have lots of plans to spread out our veg growing along this area this year to take advantage of the fences we have put in place. Can we get it finished in time ready for planting next week?
Enjoy!

Vevor, please send this couple a greenhouse! 😊 You both did a wonderful job. That lower part of the land looks like it’s full of possibility. I can imagine a little creek or pond with the lovely trickling water. And maybe a orchard of other fruits down there. You could have your own booth at the farmers market someday. Can’t wait to see what it looks like once Carlos unleashes the strimmer!
Looks great, after your spring clean. Too early here, for a Spring Clean.
If you eat bananas use the skins to make a liquid fertiliser to help your plants with missing nutrients.
Great job clearing the front! Looks like Carlos could use a wheel barrel to move any leaves and twigs to the compost. I love watching the progression on your land and the meals you cook always look delicious.
We have one the wheel is just a bit broken 😅 we think we may have finally found the part at least 💪😊
It was a lot of hard work but it looks very good out the front of your house. The broccoli looks amazing. Very yummy and your food too.
Just pick up straight after you finish a project so you don’t have a load of unfinished projects ❤
Great job guys your place is looking good
Great job with the clean-up, it looks so much bigger as well. Loads of space to soak up the sun.👍
Do you guys know that you have a unique selling point, ? The train line, I know you don’t intend to live there forever, but while you do, document the trains that come through when they come through and how it affects the house dawn or dusk approaching or leaving trains would be very atmospheric ! when I stayed in a house that was sooo close to a train line , the whole property shook, I actually found it very comforting once I got used to it .
Tbh the longer we stay here the more we think what’s the point in moving. The other stone hose can be renovated to rent out or as say a farm shop/restaurant. These are just ideas at the moment but we do love this little house and there are not that many fast trains that go past or late at night. Everyone we know thinks we are a little mad though 😂😅
❤❤
Nice clearing, don't forget to put your cardboard in to supprime the weeds.
We are cardboard hunting today 😅😂
Great progress guys 💪 well done 👍
I think you should put more soil for the plants next to the house. The stone beds look kinda empty... Good spring jobs. God bless.
Yh. We had to empty a lot of rubbish out when we moved in. It used to be filled with broken glass, concrete and all sorts. We have bought several bags today and hope to get more tomorrow. We wanted to get loads delivered but didn’t quite make the cut off. Hopefully after a few trips we can get enough 😊
Looks fab now
That looks yummy.👍
Great job on clearing the front garden
that area that you talked about is known as a water mine if you clear out the area around it and buid some sort of water collection system for the water to drain into you could use it to water all of your veg etc .sometimes the water is pure as it gets filtered threw the mountains but do a water purification test first . love the channel keep going
We have a few including one at the top of our land, although the previous owner filled that in. We hope we can open them all up eventually as I think we will need all the water we can get once we start using the lower fields 😊
good luck i wish you all the best @@TheSunnySaudadeProject
Nice video! Well done on the jobs! I loved to hear of the trail between the garduna mountains en the castelo branco plain.
I didn't quite get the cutt-off date for frost in your region, would that be the 15th of february?? Over here in Belgium it's the 15th of may.
Will you do grow some seedlings ?
Not as many this year. In the market seedling here are 20cents at the most. We do want to get to a point where we can do seedlings but want to convert an old shack on the land into a green house for this in the spring. Our house is a bit cold and dark for this and we didn’t get a high germination rate last year.
Hi guys from Ireland. How much did youz pay for your property in that part of Portugal? Looks great apart from the train rail next to the house, especially with that bend, if the train goes off the rail with speed it could end up in your bed. I wonder if properties there on the raise of worth waiting for the crash?
We definitely got a lower price due to the railway line 😂 however we are quite close to a station so nothing ever that fast comes through. There is also a new line being built so that no ‘fast’ or delivery trains will be going past soon. We used to live above a 24 hr McDonald’s in a dodgy part of London so noise never really bothers us 😂 if anything this is quieter 😅 the land which is 4.7 ha cost us €45,000 but was struggling to sell at €60,000 originally. From what I understand though prices have begun to increase in the area. Compared to London or Hertfordshire though it’s definitely still way cheaper.
@@TheSunnySaudadeProject Thanks for that, very much appreciated. I will be visiting Portugal in May, but I will be looking somewhere close to Coimbra 👍💓
@@bassalh2025 yh I’ve seen some places more that way that look cheaper. Carlos used to live in Coimbra for a while and loved it 😊
Can't you put some herbs in or is this place to hot ?
We have another spot we cleared in late December near our front door. It gets a little more shade and right next to the kitchen 😊
Hello there thank you for the tip to go to look at the fundaio region
Please can you tell what paper work you need to open a bank acc etc i can bring with me as i am go to Portugal in the spring to look my little piece of heavon many thanks 💚🍻 any info would great full am bring my van and going to import it 💚🧰🔧⚒️🛠️💡
So it has been a while but if I remember correctly you will need proof of address. We moved here before buying so set up my phone with a new Portuguese number asap. You will also need a NIF which is like a national insurance number. You should be able to get this at the local Finanças or get pointed in the right direction at a loja do cidadão. These are most large towns. Some banks can be a bit funny when you try to set up a first bank account but I would recommend someone like Santander who also have banks in the UK which can make the transfer process a lot easier. What I will say is things did seem a lot quicker for me to set up as I am married to someone who is Portuguese and can apply for citizenship in a few different ways. We didn’t import a car but from I have heard from others start the process ASAP it can take some time but there will also be deadlines put in place once you have brought it over. However cars here are soooo expensive so would recommend if you can get it sorted then do so. Hope that helps 😊
@@TheSunnySaudadeProject Thank you so much 🙂I have a Irish passport to so hopefully being European should help matters a litte💡💡
