Gaynor Pattle Art Weekly
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 พ.ย. 2015
My art/creative life - a short weekly video showing all the things that feed my art life ! I am a mixed media artist working in the South East of England. I have a Fine Art Degree and continually take courses that offer a new approach and keep my mind open to fresh ideas. The Art2Life programme really boosted my output and TH-cam is a great platform to share my enthusiasm for getting creative. I hope to inspire and encourage with an emphasis on having some fun while you develop your unique art style.
Self Expression in your art.
Asking honest questions about what we want to see in our paintings this week. Creativity is a wonderful platform for self expression but sometimes we play safe! #artist #selfexpression #expressiveart #yourart

So enjoyed this Gaynor! Every minute was such a joy. You never fail to inspire me! Thank you so much. Have a wonderful time in Portugal! Will be so excited to see the sights, I've been to Spain, but never Portugal. Enjoy. xxoo
You almost lost me in the beginning telling of your cleaning efforts in your home. Too housewifey for my taste. I did scroll on and must say I do like your execution of flowers to an abstract form. Thanks.
👏 great work
I how did I miss this one. 😊 just had a nice surprise anyway. Thank you x
Gaynor, a quick note to say how much I enjoy your art and your tips as well. I am more adept as a writer, yet you inspire me to play with paint another enjoyable way to express myself. So, thanks for your many amazing videos that I always appreciate.
Hello Pauline, Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a very kind comment. 🥰
Wonderful.... enjoy your holiday and bring back exciting images to show us.🌸💕
Thank you, I will XX
Gaynor, I'm so glad you dropped in that video about frustration. It was really helpful. I am a relatively new artist in the past 5-6 years, and I started out mostly just trying to copy photos that I found online that I liked. I started taking an online art course a couple of years ago, and when I got to the point where I had to start finding my own artistic "voice" I got really stuck, and I've been in this stuck place for over a year. I've been binge-watching your videos tonight and I'm realizing that you work a lot like I work, on many paintings at the same time, bold colours - and even a lot of the subjects you paint are the things I love to paint - your style is similar to how I end up working on a painting after I've tried to "copy" another painting - where I get it all to look just "so", at which point I seem to just let go and go all loose and a bit wild and free and fun! So I'm finally going to bed feeling inspired to go back to some of my old works tomorrow and see where I can take them. Maybe I'll think about some of my "words" and paint them and stick them up on my wall for some inspiration. This has really been helpful! Thanks so much! (By the way, in one of the videos I watched tonight you said someone commented that you can't get the Stabilo Woodies in the US. You most certainly can! A lot of TH-cam artists in the US use them. I'm in Canada but I got mine probably on Amazon 3 or 4 years ago. The other thing I like to use are the Caran d'Ache Neocolor II water-soluble wax pastel crayons. I love scribbling on top of my acrylics with those, and then in some spots I use a wet paintbrush to blend it in a bit, but they are absolutely fabulous! If you don't have them I bet you'd love them! Safe travels!
Thank you for a fantastic message....so good to connect with like minds !! Loose, Wild, Free and Fun.....all sounds really good to me ! Have a brilliant week XX
What I've learned today is that the background is just as important to the painting as the subject. A good lesson!
Absolutely! XX
You may enjoy this week's video of Colorful Collage😊 Ann
I'll check it out! X
I love the vibrancy of your colors. I'm often afraid to use bright colors, so maybe this will help me to come out of my shell.
How about setting aside a little bit of time just for colour experiments ? Once a week, once a day ? Have fun XX
@@gaynorpattle That's a fun idea. I'll try it this week!
Love listening to you - so charming.
Thank you for watching and leaving such a lovely comment XX
Louise Bourgeois " i Do, i Undo, I Redo " thats an artists life isnt it ? Always love your videos Gaynor ❤
Louise....that is a T shirt moment !!!! I love your words XX
Lovely video as usual. Thank you for the inspiration:)
Thanks so much! 😊
Those stamps!!! They are so great! ❤
I'm a lucky girl, they were a gift from my lovely sister XX
Dear Gaynor - When I had a wood burner a bit like yours, following instructions I used to let the ash bed build up in the base of the stove. It acts as a heat store like the fire brick apparently. What does your stove manufacturer recommend? You might get more heat for less work. I emptied the ash about every two weeks. It used to turn into a kind of pale grey clinker. I love your videos and watch two or three at least every day - thank you!
This makes me smile.....we were told to leave the ashes but I have a housework habit !!!!!! I will try leaving it XX
I too am working on my first chair painting! I have been influenced and love it. Have a wonderful, inspiring, restful trip. 😄
Exciting news....I love to read what other artists are up to. Have a great week too XX
I love your spontaneity. You are so excited by your art that I have to say I feel the same way about creating!
Thank you so much! Lovely to connect with like minds XX
Lemon balm is so lovely but yes, it sure can spread!
It is getting very leggy, will give it a chop ? X
Love how you use color in your paintings. Goes with your lovely , colorful personality. Enjoy watching you work, so encouraging.
Thank you so much! Have a wonderful week XX
I love what you’ve done with your painting. You’re brave and I do understand what you’re saying .
Thank you so much!
Another lovely, funny and inspiring video. I'm going to think of my signpost words I know one of them is going to be Fun, it has to be Fun 😅 Have a great trip 😊
Thank you Cheryl XX
Look at you having the greatest time!!! ❤
Hello Gaynor. Have you tried blending with baby wipes on those cards. Can be used quite gently without wetting too much. Might or might not work, but maybe worth a try. Love those large stamps in your collection. Have a lovely holiday. Enjoy. X 💐
Hello Fiona, yes...but they can cause 'pilling' ....I might be too heavy with them. The stamps were a gift from my sister....she has a shop full of amazing things !!!! Have a great week too XX
I just finished my first chair painting‼️I am really happy with it, and bought a shadow box frame. I will put it together this week. Never would have painted a chair so I have you to thank! I’m going back into another chair painting I did - something just not quite right… I have less and less anxiety about changing things now. Timidity never helps when trying something new. Have a wonderful trip. See you soon!
Patricia.....how fantastic to read...the more you do, the more the anxiety will just pack up and leave !!!!! Have a fantastic week XX
Oooo I love the white pillow on the chair. It looks like a fluffy pillow. And your not crazy. I think an artist is in the realm of being generous. But all woman go on the edge now and then. Have fun on your trip. ❤
I typed out genius and my phone changed the word all by itself. Sorry the word wasn't generous it was genius.👍
Hello Connie, Thank you....such a lovely comment XX Have a great week too 🥰
@@gaynorpattlelove watching this on the spur art you make while chatting… not an easy thing to do as using both sides of the brain at once is hard! I talk to myself when painting but can’t imagine trying to paint and talk to others… you are amazing! I paint on a large piece of 250gsm paper and then cut it into smaller pieces to glue onto the card bases… This way I can choose which ones I like to go on the final card. ❤
I hope you take us with you to Portugal!!! I have gleaned these words from this video: HONEST, SAFE, EXCITING, BOLD, MODERN, REFLECTION, ENERGY, FRESH, STRONG, SIGNPOSTS, AND ESSENCE. Your word "Safe" puzzles me. Love your energy and excitement about your art.
Hello Mary....I ask myself "is it too safe"....could I have given more ? Yes you are coming to Portugal XXX
@@gaynorpattle Obrigado
Have a great trip Gaynor.
Thank You X
The paintings bird song herbs and your beautiful personality you bless us with thank you Gaynor 😊❤
Heartfelt thanks Deborah XX
Another inspiring video! 💕 Btw when editing your video, when you speed it up you can turn off your video's sound.
Thank you X
I am so inspired every Thursday when I watch your videos. Thank you for sharing the frustrating times too, it’s so honest. You are so prolific that each week I spot a painting(s) I hadn’t seen before. I would love a video that shows all of them! Have a great holiday!
Hello Deborah, thank you for a lovely comment XX
Have fun on your trip and can’t wait to see your sketches. Also did your husband make those stamps? They are wonderful.
Hello Laura, the stamps were a gift from my lovely sister, she has a shop crammed full of kitchenalia and old beautiful things !!! XX
Your work is joyful! Being a “working artist”…does that impact your process? It does mine, and many times I get stuck…
Hello Nancy, yes, I ebb and flow !!! When stuck, I allow myself distractions and that usually does the trick !! XX
Need the word color B4 the word notes. Taking samples of each note nx 2, the painting keeps the eye aware of the movements created by harmony and contrast. More garden glimpses 😊 & why is there a green house? Is there another side to this story? Tea anyone, like to see U expand even into culinary. MayB another channel of GP at home. Making jewelry and using textiles in my art this week has turned the tide dramatically. Ann. Proverbs 14:14
Hello Ann, love the sound of a turning tide XX Have a wonderful week
Morning Gaynor🌷 I absolutely love your videos I always feel inspired to try my hand at different things and I don’t freak out about my horrible paintings anymore … I can just paint over them 😂 Also… I love your outfits and try to copy them ✨✨
Thank you so much Diane, I am very flattered XX
As usual, thanks for the honesty, energy and the beauty that naturally is expressed when you capture your 'realism' on camera. Oftentimes as artists, in the studio, alone, we flounder and fuss over nothing really. We need to step back and make sue we're being truthful in our expression on the canvas. Great ideas Gaynor! Bon voyagee!
Thank you so much XX
Your art puts us all in a happy place! Thank YOU!
Thank you so much 😀 XX
Such a great video this week. I enjoy the honesty of your journey from concept to complete. I think frantic, frustration, experimenting and fun helps us understand better the process. It helps us know it’s a normal process even for experienced artists to go through. I’m really enjoying all the beautiful bright pops of pink and lemon yellows. Feels good. Safe journeys- try to relax and soak up lots of inspiration.
Hello Felica.....will do XX Have a wonderful week yourself
Using your quote, I painted it on my wall: I am so happy I got sidetracked! Thank you for all the heaven you bring to this world of art.
Wonderful! Heartfelt thanks for lovely words XX
A bumper filled video Gaynor! Lots of useful and inspiring content. Good idea to put up words on the wall of your artists statement. Enjoy your trip! X
Thanks so much 😊 XX
I love how you kept working on your card experiments. It is so easy to quit when it doesn't go exactly how we want the first try, and this is another example of how it can turn out so beautiful if we keep experimenting and working through it. I hope your travel fills you with joy!
Yes! Thank you! XX
So glad you brought out the letter stamps again. Still hoping they'll show up in your paintings! Glad you brought the book stack back! Love that! And I think potted herbs would make great cards. Someone could buy several and frame for an inexpensive decoration if they wanted. Or give away 😃 Have a great holiday! Get inspired!
Hello Susan, thank you for good advice and have a lovely week XX
thank you for these videos. I try to watch them on Thursday morning before I go to my non-art work. They get me through the end of the week. You are always inspiring, heartening, amusing and encouraging. Have a great trip!
Thank you for watching and leaving a lovely message.....I have non art work and it makes the artwork such a bonus !!!! Have a great week too X
fantastic video, watched and enjoyed till the end ☺☺
Thank you XX
Your videos are the best way to start a day: a bouquet of beautiful surprises, many things to learn and lots of good vibrations!Whishing you a joyful holiday with alot of input for your art. Mara
Hello Mara, thank you for watching and leaving a very lovely comment...I am very grateful XX
Have a wonderful vacation!!! Imagine the Inspiration you will see. Your video this week reminded me of something ---several years ago an Artist friend & I were discussing our frustration over not being able to get our ideas or muse from our head to paper/canvas when a man said to us "Why do you paint --why don't you just take a picture of the subject & save yourself all the frustration." We both just looked at each other & burst out laughing with the knowing that he was right on some level but what's the challenge & fun in that!!!!
Hello Anita...your message makes me smile...thank you XX
Thank you for always keeping going <3
Thank you for watching XX
THANK YOU GAYNOR. I like the way you go back into a piece of art and adjust it. I don't seem to be able to do that, but will give it a try. Have a lovely holiday and look forward to seeing you next week. x
Sketchbook is a great place to try ..... just have a play XX
Lovely Gaynor, I have been on vacation and what a treat to return and catch up with a lovely friend:) Perhaps I should plan my gallery walls? I always just wing it and hope for the best 😂. After watching this I'm inspired to abandon my brushes. Thank You always for inspiring us all to love life and art and throw caution to the wind! Have an amazing week❤❤❤ Your friend across the pond, Samahra
Hello Samahra, I hope you had a great vacation and thank you for your lovely message. Have a lovely week too X
Thank you Gaynor x

I allso hope you put the cards on your webshop ❤
If I can boost my production it would be a great idea....it's in my mind XX
