How I approach floral drawing and painting. Having a go with the pot of hyacinths this week and a bucket of daffodils ! #drawingflowers #paintingflorals #sketchbook
Thanks for taking us on your trip, Gaynor. I especially loved the coloured pencil drawing of hyacinths. You have a lovely sensitivity to composition and make the simplest of things even more beautiful than nature. Aren't olive trees other-worldly gorgeous. We had a Russian olive tree here in our Canadian mountain garden but sadly they are short lived and ours gave up after 22 years. We couldn't bear to cut it down for over a year - the form was just too wonderful.
Loved Hyacinth and chair; I'm scent sensitive too! The trip to Seville was wonderful, and seeing the men paint the street lamp housing with paint brushes was perfect. I so enjoy tagging along when you travel, makes me feel so happy to go along. Love the Flamenco music, my Husband plays Flamenco guitar!! This was great, thank you!!
Wow Kathy, we have loved all the guitar playing here and seeing flamenco dancers in the street !! The orange tree scent is potent, lots in fruit and lots full of blossom XXX
Thank you so much Gaynor for taking us with you to Seville! So beautiful, the colours were amazing! I adore old buildings and architecture. Loved the hyacinths too, really lovely! 🤗💖😊 can't wait for next week!!! 💖
Morning Gaynor, what a lovely video to take us out of the feeling like winter doldrums here in the uk, with the miserable cold and wet weather. Such a lift. The hyacinths were tackled well, despite their intricacies and added to the uplift and spring vibe. Sevilla then was the icing with the cherry on top. A really lovely video. Thank you so much. Enjoy every moment. 💐
How gorgeous Seville looks, what a treat to see. Loved your multicolour hyacinth sketch. Enjoy your break and look forward to more next week. We’ve bought dark chocolate and nuts ….. just saying 😂
I loved Seville when I was in Spain. It’s been years but I have fond memories. I really liked the drawn hyacinths! So bright and lively. I had a chuckle at the glasses shuffle as I too have many options 😂 Thank you for taking us along on a wonderful sunny break. I hope you continued to have a beautiful holiday. See you next week.
Thank You Felica....my first visit to Seville and it is beautiful and has a lovely atmosphere....I want to make the most of every minute !!! Have a great week XX
Lovely. Your pics and your sharing. I spent a week once in Seville, supposedly working. In reality, we ate, ate and ate . . . all Sevillans seemed to do was spend hours socialising and eating! LOL If I was told now that I had to live in Seville, I would not complain.
Oh Seville! How beautiful! You must have had a lovely time!I can’t imagine you up in a cherry picker painting lanterns but I can see you sitting under the shade of those trees with your very own stall..how great would that be!😊Love how gnarly and unique the olive trees are, that grouped scene would make a lovely painting! You have such a way with painting flowers..well done with the hyacinths..perfect colour scheme..can’t wait for part 2 next week…enjoy yourself Gaynor!❤
Hi gaynor, this is from Washington state. I live in the Columbia gorge. Last week you talked about your dog eating your bulbs. I had the same trouble with mine. I found out it was the fertilizer that I put in my holes was enticing her. The bone meal or bulb fertilizer or anything organic . It's very frustrating. Thank you for the videos. They have encouraged me to sketch and not worry about it. I love your freedom😊
Thank you Laura....I hadn't thought about the fertiliser but that makes a lot of sense !!! Glad to read that you are sketching and not worrying....just enjoy the process....XXX
If reincarnation is true, I hope to come back with a life much like yours (and your energy)! Fabulous! I loved the Spanish music paired with the contemporary art you so graciously shared! Thank you so!
Hyacinths, not unlike hydrangeas have those packed clusters of small individual flowers and are really difficult. You did a great job! Starting with the envelope of the blooms was a great suggestion! I’ve got Spain envy…Hope you trip was fun and you got inspired to paint some of the memorable thing that stood out to you.
Hello Sherrie, still in Spain and it is fantastic. I wondered today what might come from this trip...we visited gardens today and there is more art planned for tomorrow. XXX
Lovely video Gaynor. Loved all the snippets of you at work, and Rocket passing by the window❤ Seville looks amzing, stunning buildings. Thank you for sharing your break away....Alioban x
Yep, lots of pairs of glasses. I can’t hack multi focals. They make me sick. I’m very sensitive to movement. Smells also, so I can relate to sending the hyacinths outside. Thanks for sharing your travels, so inspiring. You’ve got me thinking more about what I’d take travelling as a little art kit.
Loved this video .... Gaynor I absolutely love CASS ART and always buy there first. I go to the one in Charing Cross staff are artist especiallyhelpful too ...went there just the other day my poor sister must have got fed up with waiting for me to finish in there surely I said I would be just 1 minute or two. . and then I wasn't 😬🤭❤

No wonder you are such a jolly human…. You always find a way to uplift yourself 😊 Seville looks lovely, Amazing architecture, lovely ornate buildings, great vibe.❤️ I’ve been busy decorating my house…it’s such hard work!…think I’ve shrunk a foot …finding it difficult to stand up straight through exhaustion and gravity 😳 We are having new carpets throughout the house….so every room needs decorating! 😳 We have an old house, so it is a lot of work! I have a favourite Artist ‘Walter Anderson’…a Southern American Artist ….I would love to paint my home similar to his….it’s Amazing!!! He saw all of nature as patterns and design….so clever…love love love. Hope you have a beautiful week ❤❤❤
Hi Teresa XX REMEMBER to have a recovery period when your body aches !!!! All your hardwork will be so worthwhile. We have had older houses in the past and one job always led to ten jobs !!!! I will take a look at Walter Anderson. There is a huge Moorish influence here in Seville and walls and floors are covered in tiles, mostly all the designs are from nature, just lovely ! Try to take it easy when you can and have a fantastic week XXX

What a wonderful trip! Were the pictures at the museum, the ones incorporating people and lots of patterns and plaids, was that fabric? Thanks. (My art group is having a demo with an artist who incorporates fabric.)
I got in a pickle in the Modern Art Museum...the names of artists were in Spanish (small writing) and on a plan that was high up on the wall of each room !! But the textile art was by Małgorzata Mirga-Tas (Zakopane, Poland, 1978), a Romani activist and artist who uses the “subversive stitch” to weave visual narratives featuring women and present a positive vision of Roma culture.
