Morning Gaynor. Every time I watch you I just want to grab my paints and create. You are such an inspiration. Love the flowers in pots on small panels and the cheese plant just needs framing as is. 😊
Thank you Gaynor I love the energy in you. I’m like a lot of your viewers. Stop stop ✋ but then you go further in your instincts & I just love it. I look forward to your videos every Thursday x
The chairs are so much fun! Love it all! Please keep sharing your studio adventures! It’s very encouraging to see how you resolve problems in your work!
As you spoke of light and having a hesitancy for dark made me smile. I make quilts as well as paint. I love white and pastel quilts but have never made one as they are not my "it". I'm always excited with dark and bright colors and find that I'm also leaning that way with my paintings. I start far too dark and have to work at adding the light. Interesting the things we are challenged by. I still love your garden series in the beige/tan. Not really my color but it has spoken to me since I first saw it. Interesting how something we think not our thing can really leap out at you. Thanks again for showing us to play without fear. Wishing you a lovely week full of challenges and successes! See you next week.
I love everything you paint. Its great to hear of people purchasing yr art, just goes to show how good your work is. im so pleased for you as i know it isnt easy. Your very pleasant persona is simply a big bonus. Thanks Gaynor.❤❤❤
When youre stumped and not sure how to alter a color youre not pleased with you dont experiment wildly...you just go away and let it rest. It takes discipline to step away but it really works to get a fresh approach. The new colors on the chair backgrounder...ahhh so fresh and the string of lights add just the right amount of playfulness. Now it seems your pretty little chair has moved to the garden too celebrate the arrival of spring😊❤ Lovely and productive session today, Gaynor.
Such a delight, as always. I must say that the green chair is plump and looks like I could really relax in it!! Love it. What a great idea to make changes on a photocopy of a painting in progress, brilliant!
I had a busy work morning today and saved this for after dinner and it's funny, I'm currently doing the same thing, reworking paintings! It truly helps me see how much I've evolved and it's wonderful to have layer upon layer of our stories beneath! Hope you have a wonderful week, Gaynor. It is always a pleasure to watch you create!!! Your friend across the pond, Sam❤
Hello Sam, apologies for this late response ! I could kick myself now for paintings that I binned when all I needed to do was rework !!!!! Thank you for watching XX
Oh Gaynor, what a wonderful whirligig you have been in today’s video lol!You have treated us to so many different things to look at and shared a bit of history too.I didn’t know The girl with the pearl earring didn’t actually exist!Your drawing of her captured her so well!Charcoal is my favourite, you can do so much with it!You’ve brought Christmas to the chair painting by adding those string lights!!Whats coming next..I wonder?😀I was in awe at your flower technique on the smaller frames..you make it look so easy and I’m sure it’s not!The pink one is beautiful as is but I’m also looking forward to seeing your additions to it!You are a talented artist and you deserve your rewards!Interested to see what you have coming in the post and it’s not always about what we need…sometimes it’s about what we want! Thanks so much for this bumper packed episode!!Have a great week.❤
Hello Beverly, I don't know about cabin fever, I just love it in there ... I'll calm down a bit now, safe in the knowledge that the warmer weather is here - I hope I haven't tempted fate/snow !! Have a wonderful week X
Morning Gaynor! Love your forever changing artworks and your ability to experiment and laugh at it all. I need someone like you to stop me taking art so seriously, afterall it is through our mistakes we make breakthroughs. Your energy is contagious and makes me want to have at least 3 things on the go. Loving your slouchy velvet looking green chair with bold feet and striped wallpaper. You do great raven birds....one of those sitting on a window sash might be an added interest? Cheers, Jo.
Hello Gaynor. What is there not to like! I wish you could bottle whatever it is that you have 😂. Love it. Thank you for another energising video. As usual I can’t wait for the next update on chairs, smalls and everything else you pull out of the bag. Those mounts you found sure do make a difference too. They really finish the pictures off. Have a lovely week. 💐
Hello! I do look forward to your videos! Watching you has helped me to engage and play much more freely than I've ever done, with all my art supplies. Thank you for another great video today. Loving the crazy chair!! And the foxgloves are beautiful 💖hugs for Rocket 💖🤗💖
Hello Julie, I'm finding a few comments that I seemed to have missed !!! How lovely of you to comment, keep being 'free" and having fun. Sending hugs to you X
The colors on the chair painting just zing! I love that color combination, it is so eye catching and fun. I hope you have great fun in your studio this week, I'm already looking forward to seeing what you did in the next video.
Your videos are so invigorating and happy. I love your style of art and personal style. I’m fascinated by how you can look so chic while you’re painting.
Thank you Gaynor, you make me smile. Love seeing you on different processes. You reminded me to use up leftovers, which l shall do today. Having just had grand children staying and making art, there is leftover paint still usable, l will see what can happen😁 Love the two smalls btw 👍Thanks again......Alioban ❤
I really enjoyed! I was a little confused if you had kept the book stack or painted over it. I really liked it! The kettle with the touch of blue and yellow was perfect. Always a pleasure to watch your fascinating mind at work. And it's nice that your husband is so into what you are doing as well. Wish he would stop being shy. Lol
That is a fantastic book! I read it a long time ago, by a great writer, I may do a reread also. I love the small square flower paintings, can’t wait to see where you’re going with them, you’re such an inspiration, thank you Gaynor!
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. You have me looking forward to Thursday mornings eagerly waiting to see what you paint next. Really enjoying your insights into how you develop your work, it’s just so inspiring.
Love your smalls and watching the process. Hold on to your hat! I’ve started drawing with tubes of paint! You are really rubbing off on me, no pun intended. Also I’ve just finished my second chair painting. Woohoo. And I sketched a chair in the waiting room while my car was being serviced. I think there is a series afoot.
You are on fire, Gaynor. Thank you for making me laugh along with you at our artistic journeys. This body of work is akin to springtime itself - bursting with playful energy, a modern interpretation of so much from the history of painting. You go girl!
I read a biography of Vermeer recently. I like his cityscapes. Sadly only about 32 of his paintings exist. I like watching you experiment, you have no fear.
Always a pleasure to see you on my watch list on Thursdays! In terms of following my appetite, I'm working on a solo exhibition as a whole, and then a solo piece for a group exhibition. So I have a busy week ahead of me! And this is just coming out of my latest semester of university, so I'm barely getting a real break before I dive into this collection.
Wonder video full of your usual inspiration and energy.. I love it all but I'm particularly loving that green chair with pink flowers and Stripped background...it's beautiful!❤
Totally love your videos! So informative and quirky and amazing. You make me happy. You always talk about your woodies but no one in America know what they are or how you get them 😂
Hello Suzanne, Thank you so much for watching and taking time to leave this lovely comment. 'Woodies" are made by Stabilo, I think they intended for children ! A lovely chunky watercolour pencil X
I'm always so happy to see you work. Love what you did with the addition of pinks in the chair painting. Also I will be watching your website to pick out a small's for myself!!! Fantastic tip on taking pictures of our work along the way & printing out to play with. I'm currently in a battle with a rabbit who last year ate all my Tulip buds off & this year I even sprayed them with a pepper type spray to deter. I have 10 buds almost ready to open & on my way out yesterday I saw He had struck again by chomping off 1 bud!!!! I've become Elmer Fudd to that Rascal Rabbit ---lol such as life here in Ohio.
Hello Anita, SO frustrating !!! Bunny is possibly thinking " oh seasoned tulips" ..... Console yourself with a Bunch from the shop ! Have a wonderful week in Ohio XX
I enjoyed the variety in this video Gaynor. Your 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' painting is wonderful! I might have a go at doing my version of a masterpiece! Since I have been following your channel I never hesitate in covering my paintings with white paint if I am not satisfied! I must remember to take photos of my work before I do this though. 😂 Have a great week ahead. X
A squat fat chair is how I’d describe it, and it’s full of character - love it! The large one with the now checky floor has always troubled me because the floor/wall border is aligned with the arms on the chair. It catches my eye every time. How’s about a skirting board and a dado rail or something to put the horizontals in a different plane?? So inspired by your experiments. Thanks Gaynor😊 Jill
Hello Jill....standing and pondering this afternoon and thought that very thought...."what about a bit of skirting?" That will be a YES then....roll on tomorrow !!! Thank you Jill and have a fantastic weekend XX
So fun to watch you and gave me a giggle! But seriously, I was yelling at the screen, "intense blue! A striking blue, please, as the background for that green chair!" And then it seemed, you added that very blue to the painting....I think....who knows what changes you've made to it by now! I recently posted a still life that I created a green mix for that I now think of as "Gaynor Green".
Hi Gaynor, I'm watching your latest post and as you were talking about lights and darks, and I was agreeing with you LOL! All of a sudden I saw a great painting for you to practice your lights and darks on, it's right there in your studio window, behind your easel and already framed perfectly and in one of your fav color pallets! It's just what you were saying you like - keeping the painting bright and not very much black needed to create the dark contrast. Hope this makes since? Tata for now!
The most important insight I have learned from you is that painting is a relationship with color, subject, personality, and faith in the creative-unknown. Come visit Chicago 🌈
Hello Jane, Thank you for watching and it's great to hear from new viewers and good to know we are on the same page (pun intended !!) Have a great weekend X
