I love an art video where I’m not only inspired and informed but find myself smiling all the way through. I think I would watch you even if I wasn’t interested in art. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you for posting.
"Be brave, be bold and tap in", I love that. Also, not to think of "when is it finished? but when is it not finished" - you are so inspiring Gaynor. Congratulations on your UK website for smalls, that's wonderful!! Love the tulips, they are so great; and that you have many going at one time too. I learn so much (always) watching and hearing you each week. Thanks ever so much.
Just watched your video about your recent procedure you may have. Good luck. I did a beach painting after watching your beach video. My son has a beach house where a bunch of paintings I did he has. 3 are boats you would love them. If you come to America please contact me he has a beautiful house in Ocean City New Jersey your welcome to stay. Just contact me.
Ahh thank you for the shout out. 🥰Beaming love to you in your kitchen-studio. Love love loved your ruminations on 'when is a painting finished?' All really interesting. Speaking of, I adore the 'unfinished' look of those tulips...Abstract; bold; dramatic; I love them!!
Hello Gaynor, a very uplifting video as usual. Congratulations on the launch of your website. It looks very professional. Good luck with it, and what an inspiration to follow your dreams. Have a lovely week. 💐
Gaynor more joy, inspiration and widom. It's no surprise to me that your fanbase is increasing, congratulations on the website, love the tulips and the cheese plant painting looks amazing.
This would make a wonderful in person workshop- I can imagine myself creating similar alongside you. Wonderfully vibrant and inspirational. 🥰 Wishing you well. ❤
You know I love seeing you work every week, however, I am gutted that you changed the yellow tulips as I thought they were the bees knees 😂. Shame on you Gaynor. No,seriously just love watching you and listening, you’re an inspiration! ❤
Hello Janine, There will be other yellow tulips....of that I have no doubt !!! Thank you so much for watching and it's good to read your thoughts....comments help me so much....sitting here typing and thinking mmmm some yellow tulip smalls maybe ? !!! Have a wonderful week XX
I had the strangest experience today my husband was trying to think of an artists name for several hours I was watching your video he came in from the garden and said I’ve remembered her name and it was the same name of the book you were talking about he is now looking for the book unless Amazon have stolen it from our house and delivered it too you lol. I love watching you work so glad things are going so well for you. Take care xx
Oh My gosh!! Be brave Be BOLD, TAP IN! I love that so much! The tulips are grand and I am so excited for your online shop! I will be even more excited when (fingers crossed) you decide that shipping to the States is an option :) I would be absolutely thrilled to bits , as you say, to have a piece of your gorgeous art in my home!!! :) I will go check now and see what I can't have ;) Hahaha!! Also, we need a weekly Rocket fix please ❤ Have a wonderful weekend!! Much Love from Roxanne in Atlanta, GA USA
Hello Roxanne, a lovely comment and there is no doubt in my mind that I will be shipping further afield !! Rocket has been a bit under the weather....he repeatedly digs up spring bulbs and EATS them !!! Every bit of bulb growth has now been netted and hopefully his poor tummy can recover !!! Have a wonderful week XX
No painting is safe with you as long as its in the studio. You make me laugh when you go crashing back into a painting! It's totally absurd yet at the sametime will be so much better in the end. Lol. 😅.
I loved the tulips on the wall at the start, but I’m glad you are going to look at it more if it isn’t making you happy. I love the new batch of tulips. I’m especially drawn to the one with the splash of blue. I also really like the movement of the woody. How interesting. I liked your comment of “not slavishly” following but just get a sense of what you see. I realized that is part of my fight with myself when I’m trying to do a sketch. I can see I’m letting details overpower the feel that I was originally drawn to. Once again you’ve helped me with my journey, thanks! After the first viewing of this video I had to go check out your new website and it is lovely! Congratulations! Wishing you much success.
Hello Felica, I spent many years being slavish....what a feeling to set yourself free !!! Old habits die hard and every now and then I catch myself getting all 'picky'. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful week XX
Loved this tulips tutorial and the book chat. I have the Joan Eardley book which I purchased when I visited an exhibition of her work. Love her landscapes and find them inspiring in my own textile art.
CONGRATULATIONS on your website. I just messaged you on a painting that I don’t want to miss getting, my first choice was already sold….a good sign that you are going to be a BIG SUCCESS which I always knew when I happened upon your videos. Now I, not very patiently, wait for Thursdays new videos. Let me know about the one I messaged you on website. I’m so excited for you. Oh, and this video was so good. I love the way this new tulip exploration is going. I see more tulip painting coming. And I agree with you on Green Chair…I too love it to bits💜
Gaynor!!!!! I also had been searching the world for Joan Eardleys book and it just arrived last week 🎉! That is too funny that you experienced the same thing! Great book, great artist- I’m learning so much from studying other artists ❤Thank you again for another wonderful video ❤
It's been such a week here on all levels that I forgot it was Thursday. Watching your videos is like opening a gift to myself. Thanks for sharing the books I think I first learned of Joan E. from Sandy Hester. I always learn so much from you. I love the red color in your background but I thought if that had been me I would have put the red on the tulips so I was intrigued to see Where is she going now? I have been waiting for the news of your online sales & I did a hands in the air YES but then an Oh No because I live in the USA. I understand & you will be sold out in no time. Your tulips reminded me of a watercolor painting I bought from a coworkers wife over 25 years ago. It has strong colors & I need to bring it out now for Spring. Until next week.
Heartfelt thanks for such a wonderful comment. I haven't forgotten my wonderful international viewers...perhaps unframed work...I will keep thinking !!! Thank you for great support and such positive vibes XX
Exciting times ahead Gaynor,I’m so pleased you have branched been brave and bold and opened a website for your art!You thoroughly deserve every sale you get,I can see them flying off the shelf!Well done!🎉Cant wait to have a look!! I absolutely love the cottage in Dorset sketch,so much nicer to look at your memories through your art than a simple photo that anyone can take!Waiting in awe for the new tulip paintings!Maybe add some hints of pure gold?really pops a painting that has lots of black and red?but who am I to give advice to a wonderful artist who now has her own website!!Lol!You were totally buzzing in this video and with very good reason…really hope you are successful in every way!Have a wonderful week!❤
I have been away so only just seen this! Gaynor, you did it, a web shop! I have been patiently waiting. I'm heading over there right NOW!!! I can't wait to own a Gaynor Pattle...I hope there are some left! ❤
Heaping blessings upon you !! THANK YOU CHARLOTTE XX Rolling Down, one of my favourites and I posted this morning, first class, signed for. I hope it arrives soon ❤❤❤
Gaynor! It has arrived and I LOVE it!!! It is even better in real life, I just can't stop looking at it and noticing something else I hadn't seen before. It has a good forever home. Thank you so much xxx❤
Huge congratulations on the website, Gaynor! It is beautifully presented and I love that you make a personal appearance. I wish you so much joy and success in this new adventure. Have you considered limited edition prints, unframed as an addition to the original works? Not necessarily for all the works, but maybe just a select few. I can just feel how invigorated you are by the tulips. I love how sometimes new pieces reinform and re-energise older works and the connection and flow that exists between works. It's almost like the work is visual representation/extention of the artist's creative thinking process. I just love it all!!! Happy creative week ahead!🌷🌷🌷
You are so kind, I am so grateful for your feedback. I am considering unframed giglee prints....a fantastic suggestion.....have a fantastic week too XXX
Ive just taken time to view your web page, it is very much you, bright, joyful and skilful. It reflects your feelings, personality and professionality. Thank you for sharing, i will continue to follow your videos i find them so enlightening and inspiring. Regards Gracie, from Western Australia.
Hello Gracie, Thank you for watching and giving me feedback on the web page, I am so grateful X Have a wonderful week in your amazing part of the world XX
Loving the tulips⚘⚘⚘, so vibrant and full of energy. Think it was one of my favourite videos, you were buzzing and on fire with excitement. Love your new website, many congratulations it looks wonderful. You will sell out very quickly, all the very best wishes ⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘
You may be ‘all over the place’ Gaynor, but boy, are you productive! Great to share and be inspired by your process ❤ And Thankyou for sharing your current books - just spent an hour or so in an Amazon rabbit hole 😳 - Second Place has really peaked my interest (next on my ever expanding reading list) and her other books look interesting too. You also reminded me that I wanted to get that Joan Eardley book 😊 Congrats on your website - popped over for a peak and it looks great - well done you!
When sketching on paper China marker (or pencil) works best; your lines are dark and clean, and china pencils are also water resistant. I love woodies for their pastel like quality (and because they are water soluble), excellent blending qualities... using a thin permanent marker for sketching is also an option. You have very interesting videos, I like the variety of information (+travel!)🐞
Love your art so much Gaynor !! Trying to learn from you and trying desperately to ‘ loosen up ‘ 😂 I actually talk to you as you’re painting LOL 🌷 Also… you have such a fantastic fashion sense that if I didn’t live in south Florida where it’s almost always hot I would be copying your wonderful style ✌🏼😊 TY for your amazing channel !!!
I love your insight and ability to keep going with your paintings. Every layer is a dream. You are truly an inspiration and can’t wait till your website is available in the US. Meanwhile I look forward to you every Thursday while I drink my coffee and the house is quiet. All the best, Laurie from Palm Desert, CA
Please don’t give up on International sales. I bought a piece from a UK artist last week and didn’t blink at the shipping. She too struggled with it for a long time. Offer them I unframed. That lightens them. I almost always reframe anyway after I purchase art. Just giving you some thoughts. I didn’t ship Internationally at first either, but eventually did. Let your collectors decide! If they want it, they want it! Congrats on your decision. That’s the hard part. Your site is lovely!🌻Laura
Hello Laura, Thank you for a great suggestion....I know I'll find a way....I love the International community. Thank you for your support and kindness XX
Your website is lovely. I looked to buy one, but the one I would have bought had sold!😂😂 Lucky person. I shall keep looking as something else suitable will come up I have no doubt. I love them all, but I’m looking for a certain thing. 😊👍🇬🇧💜
I took three boxes to the post office this morning and will introduce some replacements soon !!! I am so glad you like the website and thank you for taking a look XXXX
So while watching and listening this morning.... yes, a go at flowers... maybe they R tuplesish.😅 Using oil pastels.... an excellent tool in art as is pastel painting ... I hope U will go there one day on ur experimental journey. I am actually having fun this AM, and thanks always for sharing other artists. Ann,Florida fan
Gaynor, I love this! Have you ever discussed how/what you write about in your sketchbook! I love the idea and thought I'd ask! Have a great day. ❤ Courtney
Hello Courtney, I've made the odd reference, I do like writing....because I have a tendency to jump about, it helps me collect thoughts and find direction ! Have a great week XX
My goodness, the tulips are FANTASTIC!!!! You look at them and know they were just meant to be! On the subject of copying...an artist friend I admire once told me that it is all derivative and still one of a kind... that even if we try to reproduce a piece we will end up with something that is uniquely our own. So it is in the act of creating art we can escape so many things but never our own expression. Always a pleasure, Gaynor. Thanks always for your generosity!! -Your friend across the pond, Samahra
Another great video Gaynor Made me chuckle when you were saying how you didn’t like the charcoal and Woody mixing with your paint 🎨 but in all my videos I am saying the total opposite. I like when they mix😊
Hello Gaynor i always find your videos so very interesting. Its great th feel the freedom of drasticaly changing a painting if its not sittjng well with us. Thanks Gaynor, you are full of inspiration.❤❤❤
I'd had that Joan Eardley book on order from Amazon for about 18 months and cancelled the order just before Christmas as it seemed doomed never to be in stock! Now I can rush over to Amazon to secure a copy! Also, I absolutely love watching your creative process.
I enjoy starting a new painting/project too. I loved your enthusiasm for starting the two new tulip paintings! It will be interesting to see if you keep the red background! Congratulations on your new website. I had a peek before this video ended (impatient!) and think that it looks very good and clear to understand. Accessible prices too! I hope you have a wonderful week ahead Gaynor. I am going to do the free Art2Life course next week. I have done it twice before and get so much from doing it. I see that you did it on the information on your website. X
There is so much in your videos to learn from Gaynor, thank you. Congratulations on your new website. Its very good. I like that youve brought your warmth and personality to it. Your prices seem ultra reasonable to me...... especially since you include p&p. Unfortunately I'm in NZ so no chance of getting my hands on one 😕, but i do know how horrific the postage can be. All the very best with sales!
Congratulations on the website launch!!! I am a huge fan of your florals and look forward to seeing a few smalls of those for sale 😊 thank you for another great video- the tulips look lovely.
Hello Ruth, THANK YOU so much. I took your parcel to the post office this morning. I've sent first class (signed for) so I hope it reaches you soon. My advice would be to go for it - I took absolutely ages putting it together but I'm really glad I did !!! XXX
Hello Gaynor! When is a painting finished! When is a painting unfinished! I like the poesis of your tulip blossom serie. Matisse-Hockney new look😊 Your website is great. Bye from a french artiste!
Hi Gaynor, Chroma Atelier acrylics makes a product called Fix it. You spray it on after your drawings and it keeps the drawing from smudging. However, It does not allow you to change the drawing after it is fixed.
Gosh I know what you mean about finishing, I go back soooo many times. I’ve filmed the end of my latest video so many times but I just keep going back in & still I know it’s not there but hey, I really have to get the video edited & out! 😆 But yes so love starting something new!
Congratulations on your website!! Hopefully people in the states will be able to purchase sometime in the future. Would you never consider holding a workshop in your hometown? I would sign up in a minute!
Hello Kate, I will definitely introduce something going forward. If I get myself organised enough to hold a workshop, you will at the top of my list XXX
Hi Gaynor, I love this video, as always. Re the Woodey drawing smudging when you're painting, what about using a fixative spray on the drawing before you begin painting to stop that? Or, what about using your Gelli printing plate as a stamp to apply Clear Gesso, so it seals the Woodey drawing without changing the lovely marks? And you can paint on top of that. Anyway, all thanks and best wishes to you that girl!
A pleasure to see your joy and enthusiasm for art (a shared passion of mine) and your continued experimentation is really a great modelling for how to get on when feeling stuck. A question for you, what kind of paper are you using here? I love that we can use acrylic on paper just as much on canvas but I am wondering what kind of paper is best suited for large paintings like the ones you are doing?
Thank you once again Gaynor, just got back from a holiday in uluru central Australia, the colours were so amazing, so using your inspiration for slap it on and come out with something amazing, I will get painting as soon as my visitor has returned back to the u.k. your a1 paper is that cartridge paper?
Hello June, How fantastic ..... get started while everything is fresh in your mind. Make sure you use 300 gsm or more, really thick watercolour paper will also play nicely XX Have a great week XX
I'm happy to share galleries. Hindell Brooks Gallery and Stremmel Gallery amazing collections from artists in their exhibitions 😊 also Amanda Stone...Louise Forbush. Ann
Before I watch you have to know how hard it was to see the alerts on my phone all day and not look at the video until "himself" went off for band practice
@@gaynorpattle It was definitely worth the wait. I loved the bit about when is a painting finished, a long long time ago when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, I did art "0" level at school and I well remember our teacher telling us that a picture is never finished for the artist. Since finding your videos, I'm feeling more comfortable about abstract art, I've tried the really abstract stuff but it just wasn't me. Your style works for me, but I don't want to copy. In an effort to "steal" from you I've been working in my sketchbook trying to loosen up drawing and sometimes colouring, a pot of geraniums. Day after day I'm filling my book, trying different mediums. To economise I've bought books from the thrift shop and sometimes I guesso the pages first and sometimes I just draw or paint right over the text. So all this jabber is really to say thank you for all the inspiration. And your website is really very tempting. I wish you much success and expect you will be sold out very shortly. Have a great weekend.
@@guitardee1 I'm sending you a virtual HUG, a really BIG HUG !!! ......not long after dinosaurs roamed...my local school became a massive Comprehensive....I dreamt of an art O level but due to the high demand I got directed to the cookery department !!!! I love hearing from you and hope you have a great week - stay loose XXX
@@gaynorpattle Mine too! There's no way they would have had me in the cookery department, I well remember the grey bread rolls my mum had to feed to the birds! Hygeine wasn't such a big thing then, funny thing is that now I hate having sticky fingers, I've never felt inclined to rub at my painting with my hands. Thanks for the hug, I'm fine, just too too far away for the free shipping!
Maybe somehow you could sale a photo print on line that would be less expensive overseas International to the USA. I don't know how to work computers but there should be some way for this?❤
I love an art video where I’m not only inspired and informed but find myself smiling all the way through. I think I would watch you even if I wasn’t interested in art. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you for posting.

So while watching and listening this morning.... yes, a go at flowers... maybe they R tuplesish.😅
Using oil pastels.... an excellent tool in art as is pastel painting ... I hope U will go there one day on ur experimental journey. I am actually having fun this AM, and thanks always for sharing other artists. Ann,Florida fan
Thank You Ann XX
Oh I have that Joan eardley book!!! She's amazing. 💖🤗love the tulips💖💖💖
Thank you Julie XXXX
Hello Samahra, I love that....'we can escape so many things but never our own expression'.....Thank You XX
Enjoyed this painting demonstration very much..I hope we get to see the 3 (tulip) paintings you started in this YTV.🌷🎨🌷
One of the three tulips is having a press !!! I have a frame and will keep going with the other two....fingers crossed for next week !! XX
Love listening to you - so charming.
Thank you for watching and leaving such a lovely comment XX
Another great video Gaynor
Made me chuckle when you were saying how you didn’t like the charcoal and Woody mixing with your paint 🎨 but in all my videos I am saying the total opposite. I like when they mix😊
I'm learning !!!! Isn't life funny XX
@@gaynorpattle sure is! I just love how everyone that creates goes about it so differently. It’s exciting

Hello Andrea, Thank you for a wonderful comment XX
I'd had that Joan Eardley book on order from Amazon for about 18 months and cancelled the order just before Christmas as it seemed doomed never to be in stock! Now I can rush over to Amazon to secure a copy! Also, I absolutely love watching your creative process.
Hello Helen, I very nearly cancelled and then just forgot....so what a great surprise. Have a great week XX
Hello Simone, the free course is brilliant... always good to top up XX
Beautiful paintings!!!
Very kind, thank you X
There is so much in your videos to learn from Gaynor, thank you. Congratulations on your new website. Its very good. I like that youve brought your warmth and personality to it. Your prices seem ultra reasonable to me...... especially since you include p&p. Unfortunately I'm in NZ so no chance of getting my hands on one 😕, but i do know how horrific the postage can be. All the very best with sales!
Hello Sheryl, I am so grateful for your feedback, thank you for watching and supporting, it means a lot XXX

Hello Ruth, THANK YOU so much. I took your parcel to the post office this morning. I've sent first class (signed for) so I hope it reaches you soon. My advice would be to go for it - I took absolutely ages putting it together but I'm really glad I did !!! XXX

Wonderful
Thank You XX
You have so inspired me to go and paint! Really excited about painting! 😊
That makes my day XX
Hi Gaynor, Chroma Atelier acrylics makes a product called Fix it. You spray it on after your drawings and it keeps the drawing from smudging. However, It does not allow you to change the drawing after it is fixed.
Hello Gayle, I will take a look, I am using a branded fixative at the moment. Thank you for that XX
Gosh I know what you mean about finishing, I go back soooo many times. I’ve filmed the end of my latest video so many times but I just keep going back in & still I know it’s not there but hey, I really have to get the video edited & out! 😆 But yes so love starting something new!
Everything is waiting !!!! Have a great week X
Congratulations on the website!!! It's perfect 👌🏻 loving thew tulips and the new sketchbook cover looks gorgeous, can we see more of that? Xx
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate your feedback....yes, I got carried away and forgot sketchbook !!!! X
@@gaynorpattle ah easily done!! It looks a lush color palette ❤️
YOU ARE A STAR......Today I used fixative but have been wondering what else might work....clear gesso....brilliant XXX Have a super week XXX
I use 300 gsm and thicker watercolour paper works well too. Thank you for watching and leaving a great comment XX
Love following your artwork and news!
Thank You XX
Thank you once again Gaynor, just got back from a holiday in uluru central Australia, the colours were so amazing, so using your inspiration for slap it on and come out with something amazing, I will get painting as soon as my visitor has returned back to the u.k. your a1 paper is that cartridge paper?
Hello June, How fantastic ..... get started while everything is fresh in your mind. Make sure you use 300 gsm or more, really thick watercolour paper will also play nicely XX Have a great week XX
I'm happy to share galleries. Hindell Brooks Gallery and Stremmel Gallery amazing collections from artists in their exhibitions 😊 also
Amanda Stone...Louise Forbush. Ann
Thanks for sharing!
Question: Do you edit your own videos? If so, do you just take a day for editing? Thanks for all your inspiring videos.😊
Hello David, yes I edit my videos and I try to edit a little everyday !! 😊
What about spraying fixative to stop the bleeding of the woody pencil?
Hi Lori....I have now fixed the woody and it's all behaving nicely ! XXXX
What type of pen or pencil are you using to draw your florals. It’s not mentioned, thanks
Hello Eve, I'm using a Stabilo 'Woody" or Chubby pencil X
How do you come to love the beginning? Starting is what stops me if that makes sense!
This makes me smile...the beginning is full of opportunity !!!
Before I watch you have to know how hard it was to see the alerts on my phone all day and not look at the video until "himself" went off for band practice
Ahhhh, thank you Dee XX
I don't know how to work computers but there should be some way for this?❤
Hello Connie, I haven't forgotten about all my lovely international viewers, something will come, I'm sure of it XXX
Presumably you can always crop down the fails to find some small gems…….when the fails are on paper.
ABSOLUTELY XX
