Sketchbook Dilemma and a new art project !

- What to do when you only have one sketchbook to hand...the pages are wet with paint but you want to keep working! My dilemma this week resulted in a new art project.

Gaynor, Im delighted that the orange chair found a home! How wonderful! I look so forward to my thursday mornings with you and a fresh french press coffee. Love the orange chair, such a great composition and the orange on orange of the chair and pillow really sizzles. The wonky perspective and patterns reminds me so much of Matisse! So many patterns in this one to keep the eye interested and engaged in the painting. ❤❤

Hello Gaynor, I am watching your videos quiet a time now, and honestly, they were an inspiration for me to start my own working studio. I wanted it for so many years but never had the courage. Together with some other beautiful chances I decided in august last year to rent a perfect place and start my studio, in which I can also show my work. I make big paintings on canvas and also ceramic sculptures of african-style faces. So when you said in your last video: "whatever you are up to this week..."I want to pronounce that I have me official opening of my art studio\galerie this saturday!!! Which makes me so happy!!! Love the terracotta pots. I have many, and you've inspired me to do some sketches from them.
Buying another sketch book, so you can work on 2 buddy books!
Deconstructing art books is another way to cope, you can always put it back together later on.

The Orange chair has found a lucky new owner. I loved your trip to Seville. That laminated plywood architecture was amazing. It reminded me of Gaudi's work in Barcelona, very organic. The material may not last long. I hope the citizens appreciate the art piece.

@@gaynorpattle That is fascinating. The Barcelona Cathedral put a glass floor on top of the Roman workshops that were excavated in the Cathedral footings.
So busy! Thanks for sharing. I think your hyacinth/chair image might work better if the the tonal contrast between the leaves and flowers is greater - the grey was also about the same tone so looks better with your whiting out method. I love watching your videos! Such fun and so inspiring 😊 Jill

Great to see you back in the studio and loved the mono printing. I have a new Gelli plate (12x10) which I haven't had a go with yet due to admin and video editing etc etc. I'm itching to get going. Glad you sold some paintings and now off to see what's new on your website x (ooh la la 😃)
Someone has only to mention gel plate and I want to play !! Not much new on yet, I find it hard to take the best photographs, then I get side-tracked. Two boxes have made their way to the US !!!!! All very exciting. Loved Fran's insta with Archie XX

I want to help tidy the cabin…..it looks like an Aladdin’s cave, full of arty treasures to be rediscovered and enjoyed, with the art materials being like another child’s toy box, to be rummaged through and played with. Oh it was so worth the wait. Band practice was cancelled so I had to sit through several car videos (thankfully no WW2 ones tonight) before himself went upstairs to read his book. The views of Seville were so inspiring,, both the traditionall and the modern buildings. And now the inspiration (again) to have a go at mono printing, the string idea worked so well and we ae all (I'm sure) waiting to see what you will add to them. Watching you put white paint over was stomach churning but the lesson has been learned from other videos that it will alll turn out ok in the end. Thanks again for the weekly inspiration. So wishing I was there for spring.

@@gaynorpattle my favourite part of spring is the dark dark bare bark of the trees and then suddenly there are bright green flashes of new leaves. Even better if it’s a rainy day because the green seems brighter in the gloom. Plus tiny crocuses growing wild in public grassy areas.
Well... there could be a new Warhol inspired work on the horizon.
So much can B done to the same article in repeated patterns.
When pressing down to mono-print, a strong like cardboard or strong flat plastic helps...using a speedball red baron baren also helps get all the paint U may want to lift up.
I cut vases out of magazines... as well as chairs. Actually cut out many INTERESTING color patterns 😅 when editing a magazine color coordinating is thru out and helps to bring freshness to shades, for modern time decorating. Great collages R made ...not born in the mind... cut outs like we did way back in the day helps in delivering a message on the substrates.
Ur week of ideas come thru fresh ... hopefully, that gorgeous plant goes in the ground soon😅. Ann

Welcome home. Congratulations on having orange chair sold! The pots are so full of possibilities and the string in the mono print was an exciting add. It will be fun to see where you go with this spark of inspiration. I still just love the colorful sketch of the hyacinths. I’ve been drawn to that one from the moment you did it. He is really happy to go to a kennel and run around with other inmates !!! Hi Gaynor. I sometimes do a quick sketch I love in my sketchbook, so I now mainly use ringbound sketchbooks. I use scissors to cut a slot behind each ring, I can then carefully take it out and put it in a frame to look at for a while. But even better, when I've seen it enough, I can change it for another sketch, and carefully put it back in the Sketchbook, and it stays in ok

Hi Gaynor & Thanks so much for sharing your trip to Seville. What a beautiful city & the buildings are incredible. I was wondering on your monoprints are you using Gouche paint tubes or Acrylic? Congrats on selling Orange Chair. Mother's Day here in the States is not till mid May so usually our weather is much better.
Hello Anita, yes two years running of rain on Mother's Day makes me think I'll try to book a weekend exhibition later in the Spring !!! There was the odd tube of gouache on the table but I think I used mainly acrylic. Have a wonderful week X

Dear Gaynor how gorgeous are your pieces tgat you worked on ie. Tge Spring exhibition so pretty the flowers you add4d. I do rip out from my sketchbook if I can't help it for when I must reason and I feel vervain about it afterwards bit n3vermind whats most important is that we get the result we want and it's there to help us unconditionally so nothing is lost as such. Hi Connie, Michelle is right, just keep trying....try to enjoy a new beginning, it is THE most exciting time....don't throw anything away and later down the line you can track your progress. Your own style will develop as you go. Don't judge anything, just keep practising and experimenting XX
I'm loving the chair series, such a interesting and quite limitless subject to explore! Your art cabin is such a happy space to create in too. The mono printing looks like fun, is there an advantage to doing it from paper as opposed to using the geli press?

Hello Pam, we have screws everywhere ! probably hard to see because every now and then they get a coat of white paint. We insulated and used mdf panels internally so there is plenty to fix into. X

Hello Stephanie 🥰 The black frame came from Ikea. I not usually keen on their quality but this one is really good !
You may want to take 2 sketch books and xtra paper.
