Always so uplifting and inspiring Gaynor, thank you.
THANK YOU XX
I want to be you when I grow up----I'm 73----love your approach to art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This makes me very happy XX
Thank you Gaynor for another inspiring video. You are always fun and interesting.......I am now in the 2nd week of CVP and hoping to have a similar transformative relationship to my art as you!
I truly love the self inquiry and dialogue that you have with each painting. I believe that's where they come alive!❤
Congratulations on all the art success you have had this year...you are an inspiration on moving forward and taking risks
Thank you so much for sharing your journey.❤️
Hello Kim, I think the great thing about CVP is that it encourages you to be true to yourself. I felt SO frustrated and the course helped me to trust my instincts and just let go !!! I hope you enjoy every minute XX
Gaynor you are an amazing artist, I love all your work. You project such verve in all you do and the road(s) you take to get there which is energising. My Thursday’s are not complete until I have watched your delightful presentations. Here’s hoping you open your on line shop to those living outside the UK someday even if it is for cards only😬
Hello Jane, heartfelt thanks XX I have sent a few paintings internationally now. Clients have emailed and are prepared to pay the postage. I am thinking about prints etc. as I would love to fully open to those outside the UK. Have a wonderful week XX

I love the variety in yr videos, always always so interesting. I love Thursday mornings .... its Gaynor pattle day yay. Thanyou Gaynor❤❤❤
Thank you Andrea, such kind words spur me on ! Have a wonderful week X
😊I absolutely agree! The spontaneous way Gaynor does her videos makes it difficult to watch others ..🤗they are boring compared to her. Thank you Gaynor for being you!🖌️🎨🖋️✒️✏️🖊️
@@yeshuaiscomingbackrepent2357 It helps to have such lovely viewers 🥰
"I need to channel my inner Gaynor" I often hear myself thinking or even saying out loud while painting and feeling stuck 😂
That's the result of watching all of your videos the past few months!
Thank you so much! ❤
Thank you for watching and leaving this lovely message XX
Hi Gaynor, I just found you last week and haven’t found time to comment because I’ve been binge watching your channel ever since. I started doing watercolor and pastels 25 years ago. It’s all I wanted to do when I wasn’t painting I was thinking about painting. Then I got breast cancer in 2006 and it all went away all my inthusiasm taken away by chemotherapy and radiation. Thank you for starting this channel you have gotten me excited to paint again. I love your work, house, clothes, garden, cabin and most of all how you work. I’ve been struggling to get loose forever and you have helped me do that in just this week. I can’t wait for Thursdays now😊❤ much love to you.
BIG love to you Carol XXX And just keep going...sometimes I catch myself tightening up (old habits!) and have to tell myself to let go !!! Have a great week XXX
Love thursdays!!!!
SO SO Kind, Thank You XX
I really enjoy watching you work and your thought processes. It gives me so many ideas and things to think about, thank you! :)
You are so welcome! Thank you for taking time to leave a lovely comment X
Thursdays are my favorite day because of your videos! Thank you so much for all of your hard work on these videos. It’s a lot of work. Thank you for showing us your art and process, this has helped my creativity immensely!
Heartfelt thanks Kym XXX
An entire amazing videos of ideas 😊...The Last Homely House "Happy New Year and wecolme". Ann
To hell with waiting till tonight! Going to watch on my phone now and again tonight on the big screen 😂
SO FUNNY !!! How are you? The neighbours beautiful Magnolia is currently being battered by high winds and MORE rain !!! I know, I know, we need the rain.... XXXX
Watching now. That cheeseplant is indigenous to South Africa. We had one, it grew enormous in the garden and was much admired until we discovered that its roots had found a way into our sewerage pipes. We found out because the toilets wouldn't flush. It turned out the roots had gone along 20 metres of pipe and into our septic tank. When the people came to sort it out, the septic tank was empty because the "cheese plant" had consumed everything in there, even the thingys that keep it viable. So I won't be buying one again.
@@gaynorpattle Thank you, I'm fine. It's autumn here now and we are entering our dry season. Down in the Cape it will be their wet season as they have a meditteranean climate. As to the cheese plant, It wasnt funny at the time, it was very expensive! We moved from there ten years ago and now have municipal waste so no more problems, but in our climate it really is only suitable for very large ;properties and far far away from foundations and plumbiing. Magnolias are so pretty, they would be nice to paint, no fiddly teeny petals
@@guitardee1 CRUMBS.....that is amazing !!!
@@gaynorpattle Not as amazing as the wonderful videos you put out for us to enjoy. Love seeing your different outfits too.
Always try to remember that a painting is NEVER finished, it is just interrupted at a certain stage of its development. It took me forever to learn this.
Wonderful development going on in your studio.

Thank You XX
I love the foxglove already but watching to see how it changes.
A few days ago I had a "what was I thinking?" Moment also! Sennelier abstract NEON all over a 16x20 canvas...very beautiful, but I was STUCK! Today I watched this video twice and absolutely loved the original background (white scratchy) behind the foxgloves and realized I was at a RISK moment...I took it by pouring gesso all over it and then whipping some away. 😁🤗😁Now I see the beautiful colors but they are not so strong...here goes a new start....I will keep you posted!😁 Thank you so much!Love from Lisa in Texas USA.🇺🇲
Hello Lisa, Great to follow your painting adventure, have fun and keep experimenting ! Have a wonderful week in Texas XX

Absolutely love the new direction of the foxgloves - much more interesting and dynamic for me! You’re such an inspiration to keep problem-solving and experimenting. Love to you from Massachusetts.❤❤❤

You and Craig are so talented. I love his frames. I wish I could do that. And I love your paintings. It's so fun watching you create. It's raining and cold cold here too in Salt Lake City Utah U.S.A.💜
Hello Connie, Thank you for a lovely message and great support X Stay warm and cosy in Utah XX
Hi Gaynor! Another wonderful video. Love the pieces you pulled out to take a second look at and mull over if they are done. I saw a glimpse of my favorite that hung over your left shoulder for a bit in the cabin of the man with flowers and the blue car. I just love that one! This is random but I adore the bag/basket that your off shoots are kept in 😊 Hopeful Spring is on the horizon for y’all soon. It is getting closer here in southeastern US. The pollen is thick ink the air here. As always, have a wonderful weekend and I’m Already looking forward to next Thursday! Best wishes from Roxanne in Atlanta 👋🏻❤
Hello Roxanne, Great to read your message, thank you X. We have blossom and bulbs ...... I love seeing buds on trees, a sense of all that energy waiting to burst into green !!! Have a fab week in Atlanta XX
Your cheese plant has grown so much! Obviously a very happy home for it. I tend to give up on a painting so it is wonderful of you to remind me us it is okay to rework or start over. You are a wonderful entertainer AND teacher for all of us! Please never totally stop waffling, it is so charming. Hope you have a great Easter. See you next week.
Hello Felica, Amazingly, the cheese plant copes even when I forget to water !! Heartfelt thanks for your lovely support XX
such a wonderful video, watched and enjoyed till the end ☺☺
Thank you so much Chantelle XX
Good Morning Gaynor, It is often a joy and a revelation to revisit work that we've put away! It really gives fresh perspective, even the next day! I'm often enamored of how they painted fabric during that era too. Outstanding❤ Sending my Best, your friend across the pond, Sam
Hello Sam, yes, just think, they had to grind and make pigments before putting a brush to canvas ! Have a great week XX
Oh my gosh😭😭😭I love the foxglove just as they are. They are so peaceful.
Same here, I thought the original was superb. But what do I know.😊
Hi Michelle, I am so glad you commented....peaceful.....captures it !!! XX
I love the cheeseplant but I’ve always known it as the ‘delicious monster’ 😊 thank you for another happy Thursday.😢
That makes me smile.....thank you for watching XX
Such great encouragement Gaynor, just love it. I have a daffodil/vase painting that I don't like, I am going to play with it and see if I can make it work. Thanks for the inspiration, as always.
Hello Kathy, thank you XX Loving your recent gel print posts XX
Great video....I love your inspiration, fun and encouragement to have go! ...and breathe....
Ahh Thank you Jane, have a wonderful Easter X
Hi Gaynor ---this was a banner week with your video on Thursday & also the last Sandi Hester video explained Values so well. Isn't it interesting that you decided to do more on older paining. Can't wait to see how it turns out. I have had the task this week of picking out Roof Shingles as we are having a new roof put on. So many different colors available. We went online to shingle manufacturer & could upload a pic of our home & then try out different color roofs. I was able to see the Values & how they read on the roof computer sample. I discovered that the shingles with the huge contrast in values was not as pleasings as the ones with the same color values at least on a roof. Imagine trying to explain that to a roof contractor & a man at that. LOL But I gave myself credit for being able to see & understand this Finally!!!! Looking forward to your next video.
Hi Anita, I bet the roof will look great...what a big job !! My thinking, as you say, would be blend, blend, blend !! Have a great week XX
How very inspiring thanks Gaynor 😊❤
Thank you Deborah X Have a great week X
I just love your videos, they are just so cheerful and inspiring. The foxgloves....I loved the color, and I agree that the left side needed a little bit more. As I studied them with you, I was thinking of what I might do with them. I thought I would add a bit of architecture in the distance, like the edge of a manor house, in a sort of blurry way. One thing I do know, is that the end result that you come up with, will look fantastic!
Yes....a bit of something distant xxx I will see what comes tomorrow ! Thank you for a lovely comment XX
You just keep thinking about your paintings and analyzing their faults and merits and then BOOM, you act! I’m the big thinker/analyzer but SO SLOW, on the acting. You always inspire me to just “take a RISK,” and barge forward. Your risks are informed we cannot forget. Seeing what’s wrong doesn’t always make us see what could be right for the painting but it’s such a good start to be able to resolve the issues and do what the painting needs. It’s about what the painting needs not what we need. Thanks for getting into the painter’s psyche with us❤
Hello Sherrie, Thank you for your wonderful support. Take small daily action everyday if you can, small steps will carry you forward. Have a wonderful week XX
Cheeseplant looks fantastic! I love to see all your WIP's. Lovely to be back in the cabin- I hope it is warm enough for you? I liked foxgloves! On the original I would have taken out the green leaves in the front and added something round a third of the way up on the left. Having said all that only you know what you want! Have a lovely week Gaynor. X
Hello Simone, Yes feeling relieved that Cheese Plant is happy ! I am very happy to be working on Foxgloves. Have a great Easter XX
You know what - I really wonder how you can paint in your „good“ clothes, despite the apron. I would have to buy a new wardrobe every week 🤣
I've got visions of you now !!!! X
Always so-ooo interesting. Such a talent you are.
Thank you so much! X
'Horrified' by the foxgloves made me laugh out loud 😂 I see what you mean about it needing more 'strength' but I still thought they looked great. 🤷♀ Loved seeing some of the older paintings coming back out again in this video, and of course, there can never be enough of the chairs 💗
The chairs are multiplying by the day !!!! Can't wait for Monday XXXX
I can't believe it's been a year since you purchased the cheese plant, oh my goodness time is flying by! I'm really loving your chairs, with their lush colors and transformations, they're so representative (to me) of coziness and personal space. As always, thank you for continuing to share and shine your light!
Thank you so much XX
I just love the foxglove!
I mean the original one.
Hello Karen, I love that art is subjective. So good that we all see differently and respond differently. Thank you for sharing X
Hi Gaynor, Always something happening and a variety of artwork to move to if you get a bit stuck. Its a great approach.
Most of us when we get stuck on one thing, lose confidence so easily and then get frozen and disheartened.
On the other hand, you just go for it!!!
Such a positive spirit.
Love your wheely easel and table....just be careful of your vacuum!
I always look forward to your vlogs. They make my day.😊
Jo.
Hi Jo, I'm always tripping over something.....even walking down the street !!!! Thank you for a lovely comment, I really appreciate it XX
Love it as always 😁🇬🇧
THANK YOU XX
There was something about the foxgloves that I liked as they were. They drew me in and had a very peaceful feeling about them. But I really enjoyed watching what you did with them and how they looked after your changes. I love how brave you are with your work.
Hello Michelle, Thank you for a lovely comment....I find it very freeing to take a risk !! Have a wonderful week XX
Hi Gaynor, it occurred to me that your vase project is perfect for working with your gelli plate! You can do a series of backgrounds and then do a paper cut-out of the shape of the vase and have fun! I look forward to see it develop more. On another note, I am curious about how you finish your paintings, do you varnish them? I ask because I also re-work mine after a while and worry that if I varnish one I won't be able to go bak to it at a later stage. TIA
Hello Angie, YES, I'm wondering about the gel plate. If you use a matt medium or gloss medium you can seal but still work on top. When I wipe back, I get to what was there.....if that makes sense !!! Have a go XXX
What? Today's Richard Musgrave-Evans ...fast forward to the end😊. Ann
Foxgloves are now so happy to be settled into their environment - you wove your wand. The chair/lilacs has arrived! I was waiting and waiting to see the raw green floor leave the scene. Of course if I had done it, I wouldn't have seen it or known what to do. You are so right, Gaynor - patience is the key.
Hello Ann, Thank you for a lovely comment. I love the excitement of working on a painting....the not knowing bit !!!! You would know because you would follow your instinct in that moment, you can change things so easily and really enjoy the process. Have a wonderful week XX
Hello Gaynor,I must say I adore The Bather painting, brought to mind Spain,as if she is swimming in an orange grove, lovely!!Im glad to see you have a new dance partner with your easel on wheels,a little light entertainment between paintings lol!You have so much going on at one time…don’t know how you do it!I love how you tackle refurbishing a painting, you make it look so easy,I get so tense when having a go at painting but you are so right,we should just breathe and relax, after all the canvas can be painted over and we can start again! So much anticipation to see how you get on with your foxgloves!!Have an enjoyable productive week Gaynor!❤
Hello Beverly, The oranges in Seville were abundant !!! I think that if you have plenty going on, you are less likely to get too tight when you want to make an adjustment. A damp cloth will take back anything you really don't like ! Have a wonderful week XXX
@@gaynorpattle Thankyou for the tips!!!xx
Hello Gaynor, you made me laugh towards the end. Relax and you will float…..you never seem that relaxed, just the opposite, but in a good way. Your enthusiasm and bravery is a joy to watch. There are many times I want to stop you, but you always seem to pull things off… like the foxglove picture. Can’t wait to see that finished. Have a lovely week💐
@@fionawhitfield925 Hello Fiona....its true I do have a hard time relaxing unless I have paint to hand 😂and even then I blow it by getting over excited !!! Thank you for watching and your lovely words....such great support XX Have a great Easter XX🐰

Thank you! 😊
I love your work and videos 😍
Thank you for watching and taking time to leave a lovely comment 🥰
Every Thursday is a holiday! Such Fun!!
Thank you Linda XXX
After watching your latest fab video, I've been looking at a painting that I've got stuck with. I asked myself which bits don't sing. Sudden clarity. Some bits are too fiddly. I really like them, but they don't fit with the rest of the work. Time to wield a brush and take a scary risk. Thank you. I always learn something new on a Thursday.
Hello Jan, thank you for watching and leaving a great comment, remember that if you are speedy, a damp cloth will remove anything you don't like. Take the risk XXXX
This was so well timed for me Gaynor, thank you 😊 I am trying to paint a hare but not happy with it. I was going to give up but you have given me ideas so going to try more contrast in colour and mark making. The foxgloves will look amazing, love the change of composition ❤
Hi Charlotte, Don't give up....if you have a damp cloth at the ready, any marks you don't like can easily be removed ! Have a great week XX
@15:07 again @17:11 the "greens" outside the windows show values... also seeing those steps show amazing color changes with the principle of where a dark then a light creates interest. Comparing shades with what can B taught by nature... teaches us 2 C 3D. ... the foxglove canvas vs. nature. So ...When taking a painting outside or while "plein aire" the eye begs for staring 😮 backing up really seeing what and where R the next moves could draw the eye to the story being written.
Wheels may B the all-time greatest invention, is the table next in mobility? Ann
Ann, you read my mind ! X
You might not need it, but if you stand for a while when you’re painting, it would be really good for your feet knees and back to put a yoga mat underneath you or something made of the same material and you can cut it to whatever shape you want, it just helps. Take some of the impact of your joints and allows you to stand for longer without irritating them.I use this because I have arthritis however I have found that it’s really made a difference for people that don’t have any back or leg issues. They actually find that it eases the tension in the joints and they can stand for longer periods of time.
Wow Jess, thank you so much, a great suggestion and I'll give it a try X
I’m like everyone else, looking forward to Thursday’s for your video.❤️ For your foxgloves, have you thought of orange with the purple? I love the secondary colors together, purple, orange, and green. Just a thought…. Have a lovely Easter Holiday.
Oh crumbs Patricia, don't get me started on orange !!!! A great suggestion and I love that combo XX Have a fab Easter XX
Your cheese plant growth is amazing but made me sad! My dear Westie decided to rip mine to shreds as a stranger rang our doorbell. I was not home so came home to it in a pile of dirt on floor 😮. Time for a new one! Thanks for the video today, look forward to each one. What and where do you obtain your corner protectors?
