These vegetarian tacos were quite good except for the fact that the guacamole was mixed with mayo instead of chili. With chili flakes it was much better!

"Cultish" book review and MLMs

I read Cultish by Amanda Montell and i would rate it 3/5, though i do recommend her other books! MLM (Multi-level Marketing) is a marketing strategy involving a pyramid scheme where the affiliate workers don't earn a salary but rather gain perks by recruiting new affiliates. Tupperware is a known MLM, Usborne books is not, but it has MLM tendencies. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-level_marketing...

Am I an Attention Seeker ??!!!!

The answer is yes i seek attention, but maybe I'm not a terrible person. Attention seeking is natural and common (especially with mental illness). Hi Ingrid thanks for this video. I like asmr and sensory things. I'm also pretty sure I am autistic or have aspergers. I wrote a poem for INFPs. I got inspiration from someone talking about an INFP who helped them when they were in a dark place. He said INFPs will seek out the one broken star in the sky. In realms where twilight whispers secrets old, And galaxies in swirling stories unfold, There lived a star, its light forever dimmed, A lonely ember where hope had been skimmed. The INFPs, with hearts of gentle might, Felt a kinship to the fading star's faint light. Dreamers and healers, with spirits ever free, They yearned to mend the crack in infinity. With paintbrushes dipped in stardust's gleam, They wove a tapestry, a vibrant, hopeful dream. Brushstrokes of solace, in hues of moonlit grace, A symphony of colors to mend the broken space. They climbed on whispers carried by the breeze, Through constellations whispering in the trees. Past nebulae, where dreams in silence lie, Their empathy a beacon in the vast, starlit sky. Reaching the wounded star, with touch so kind, They poured their empathy, a balm for the mind. The broken light flickered, then softly sighed, As hope rekindled, burning bright inside. The star, once fractured, now a beacon bold, A testament to the stories yet untold. INFPs, the menders, with spirits ever true, Leaving a trail of starlight, forever bright and new.

I hope things will get better soon. Maybe holidays will help, also meeting a friend soon may help :) I get affected by things happening around me too and it's hard to filter things. You know Ingrid I don't think you are self-centered at least to toxic extent. I get the same feedback when I speak about my difficulties and struggles ... ' you are the only one suffering in the world, there are people in much worse situation ' that's what they I say and I swear I do know but st the same time nobody's going to be in my place when I'm having hard time doing even the most basic things... "Anything can be a cult" therefore all cults are fine 😂 I've heard this argument a few times now and it is very frustrating. I like saying 'sometimes there is a meaningful difference. Sort of like saying all berries are the same, so what's the difference between eating poison berries and non-poisonous berries? Hm. You read a handbook for the roman soldier as a young child...? I wonder what influence this book had on your life and perspectives... Anyway to answer your question, yes I had a brief experience running a cult but for some reason it didn't work out. I wonder why 😅😂 But I guess the closest I got was the Japanese cult, and even then they didn't say anything to me about the cult. My Mum did briefly get involved with some MLM scheme I think but I doubt she got too involved - being an ENTP she probably saw through it all too quickly? I dunno.

I guess i also liked getting shamed by a book for not knowing how to polish a roman sword or something 😂

    MLMs are BIG cults. Had friends in those (and they always kept trying to draw me in). Had family (including wives) in various cults, MLM and other, and I could never see the point of it. Then again, INFJ's are natural non-followers. I think you are right that these are things that are used to rope people in who are looking for extra money, and unfortunately it usually does the opposite and end up costing them money in the end. To make money in MLM you need to be a predatory type person - which is what the people who operate them are. Cults pretty much are operated as a means to bilk large masses of people of money without them knowing it, predominantly the well-meaning and intentioned who are a naive and trusting. Interesting discussion. Sounds like thew book had some merits, because it invoked introspection on your part.

    I was Mormon for 26 years through and through. Just some nit picking corrections: 1) you don’t actually have to be related to be baptized for someone - Mormons just like to do that because it feels more special. 2) in Mormon theology the person getting vicariously baptized is actually given the option wether or not to accept that baptism, so they don’t necessarily become Mormon. Having said that, I don’t believe a word of it anymore 😂. That’s just the way Mormons see it.

    @VanLykke72 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Ingrid, what you are experiencing is nothing to feel ashamed about. Your emotional reservoir is as vast and deep as your reservoir of knowledge. Just as you feel the need to share this accumulated information with the hope of making this world a better place, so to must this happen when you are overwhelmed with/by your emotions. Much like a dam on a river or lake that’s in danger of overflowing its banks, sometimes floodgates need to be opened as a protective measure. Your body is reacting/responding to something overwhelming and it is trying to do the same thing by shutting down certain operating systems to focus on others which require immediate attention. Floodgates are opened so all those welled up thoughts, feelings, and emotions can spill out so that the body can recover, recalibrate, and return to normal functioning. I think that because you feel things so intensely, situations that ordinarily might elicit a more subtle response in someone else instead cause you to feel an incredible seismic shift to your mind, body, and spirit. Ingrid, you are capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for. When was the last time you watched the very first video you posted on this TH-cam channel from 10 years ago? Remember her? Look how far you’ve come since then and what you’ve been able to accomplish…all on your own! In times like these, it’s good to allow yourself(and others) a bit of grace and compassion: you deserve and owe yourself that much. Try not to fret too much over things that haven’t gone according to plan. Trips to Japan and Scotland, coming out to your parents, obtaining a drivers license, etc…all of these things will happen because you will make them happen and they will happen when the time is right for you! It’s great that you take everyone else’s feelings into consideration but eventually you must learn to live life on your own terms. I believe in you. When you learn to believe in yourself and what you’re truly capable of then all of the pieces will fall into place. I promise.😊 I feel better knowing you are home and someplace safe while this is happening. Please try and give your troubled thoughts and soul a good rest. 💙🌈

    I remember this very topic sending me into a spiral ten years ago where I was called an attention-seeker for having a TH-cam channel, for my comic, blah blah. Because it's like, true and completely unfair lol. The person in question was saying they don't have a TH-cam channel because they aren't self-centred like me (it was an ISFJ) and it was very draining and made me so upset, actually. Because like you say - what are we supposed to do? Never express ourselves? It goes around in circles. Of course in these situations I'd always retreat and cut myself from the world and in my head I'd be thinking 'okay so I need to vanish and never be seen in case someone thinks I'm attention-seeking' and then I wondered where it's ethical to apply for jobs, to show up to parties lol. So yeah it's ridiculous and I guess now maybe I'd be able to argue back a bit better, but I guess the big irony is that the people accusing are also attention-seeking, and in a toxic way.

    Hi Ingrid, I guess you know what I think of you. I can be quite sensitive to comments from videos about things I care about. Well if you didn't post some of these videos I wouldn't have known you. Same applies for other people I met through the internet. As a regular commenter on your videos if I do so that often is because I appreciate you and in many videos I felt heard and seen despite we come from different backgrounds. Also when I chose to share some details of my life on the internet is because I somehow found out it's the way it works for me to find people who resemble me in some struggles. I was really hesitant to do so, I remember my first comment was on one of bufo's video which resonated with me so much it made me cry several times. At that moment I felt some sort of connexion and felt comfortable commenting then it somehow clicked. Some people didn't have the chance to find people in real life that's why we seek connexion through the internet, I don't know if I can call it attention seeking it's just we are human beings looking for people who respect us and appreciate us as we are with our struggles no matter how strange they can be. Well, you ARE on TH-cam, with a channel of your own. That's NOT hiding in your room, and IS inviting and seeking a response from others in the world. So to a certain extent , yes. You are seeking (very specific) attention. And we are giving it. Now, are you out there deliberately, maliciously, doing manipulation of others - pretending to have incidents, while you flail about like a wounded animal, begging for money or worse? No. You went into several of those negative TH-camr descriptions yourself. Those ARE "attention seeking". You kind of use us to hash out things, a collective group of odd fellows to use as a sounding board. Beats shouting into the darkness alone. I've done that. It's not fun and very lonely. What you do is probably closest to a non-Catholic version of a confessional, or therapy without a therapist. Maybe a weird therapy session group you run with yourself as moderator. Putting yourself out there. Why not? Who is to say what's right? Solving yourself is the biggest and hardest mystery you will ever undertake. We're listening, so as the great sage Bugs Bunny has said, "What's up Doc?"

    Please stop thinking it's your fault. Others will have their opinion, and treat it as. "that's nice". You have a life. Your decisions are yours. Don't let society put demands on you. Don't compare yourself or circumstances to others. Impress yourself. Perhaps you give good advice. I don't think you are failing the exercise. Most likely the point of the exercise is to gain some information about yourself and wisdom. It happens even if you don't accomplish your original goals. Try not to feel shame. It's kind of like extra layer of emotion that takes your attention away from your more relevant feelings. I'd be careful in using Meyers-Briggs to rationalize certain relationship dynamics you observe with others. People are far, far, far more complicated than this test can account for, and people not getting along is likely far more complicated than mere archetypal personality type assignments.

    Ahh I am so sorry, Ingrid. :( I think you are in a pretty bad negative spiral that is caused by much more than just the planning. Give yourself some rest, sleep well, and when you can, take it only little step by little step. This makes such plannings more doable and less intimidating. And btw, if it helps, plannings are sometimes way harder to execute properly than they seem at first glance for all of us! The various factors simply make it difficult and in a bad state of mind it can be too overwhelming. Don't beat yourself up over it. It's not only you who struggles with the execution of plannings. :)

    I am so sorry to hear how bad you feel :( But your problems are really understandable and nothing to judge yourself for. You need some time for yourself, and you are kind to your family, and it is great that you take their wishes into account, but kindness works better when you have the energy for it (that is, if you have the surplus to share). Every person has a different amount of it in different settings and circumstances. And if the world and your surroundings (or certain aspects of these) drain you, you naturally have the need to recover and recharge to be open to interaction with others (or to some actions like planning that may be confusing and terrifying because there is so much to consider). You can't spend energy on others if you don't have it. Please don't think badly about yourself in such moments and just give yourself the (mental) right to take care of your needs, even if that means postponing certain plans for a little while and taking a break from what causes stress and can't be decided upon at the moment. (Sorry if it sounds a bit too personal or straightforward). Also, there is nothing wrong with being distressed from something that triggers you personally and crying as much as you need to relieve the tension, in my opinion. Crying and feeling something is so much better than feeling nothing. I think it is important that you talk about your experience. I hope you will feel much better soon!
