The Vasa ship sank in 1628, it was recovered in the 1960s and put in a museum in the 1990s. In 1628 the king was actually Gustaf II Adolf who was a king who liked war. Gustaf Vasa (Gustaf I) became king 6 june 1561, so that is why we have a national day. The ship was named Vasa because he was thought of as a great King back then. Ends up Vasa actually was a big fan of machiavelli.
Anyway, i realize i barely know Swedish history at all and probably need to go back to the historical museum one more time 😅
Hello Ingrid,
I've never been to Stockholm but maybe one day.
I didn't know Stockholm is made-up of Islands.
I like going to museums. I did few ones in the city but there are some left.
Here 6th is the D-Day of WWII but it's not a holiday but you know that already.
Speaking of Louis, I remembered a French comedy called ' les inconnus ' if you know about it and in one episode they were talking about a french king and they said ' Louis avec des barres ' since they didn't remember which Louis they were talking about and didn't remember the number written in Roman numerals hence ' avec des barres '
Some cities in Europe grew up very fast.
It's nice that you like Sweden and Stockholm and you consider it as your home.
It was nice hearing from you.
Have a great evening Ingrid
Yes i love stockholm and museums! Yes the 6th june is D day but since sweden wasn't in the war there is no acknowledgement here.
Haha no i have never seen les inconnus.
I loved hearing some of the history of Sweden and Stockholm! I do associate the name 'Gustav' with Swedish monarchs lol. Hm when I was in Stockholm all those years ago, I only really remember that I went to the Music Museum? And trying to get a student discount and not having a student card and being turned down lol. Hm I guess another thing I remember from my time there was how a stranger, speaking really good English, helped me buy a transport ticket, and I remember thinking that Swedish people were really helpful and nice. But I didn't really talk to many people. Most of the time I was catching random trains around and just writing in my journal all day.
Oh yes i got to go to the music museum when i was young, but it closed and now reopened as the scenkonstmuseum, with theater and other performance based art included. It is a more interactive experience now with light amd sound, but i do miss what the music museum had. I remember tons of instruments to try out and you could play the drums to ABBA 😂
I'm glad you got one good interaction in there between your moody reading and journal writing 😂
@@radishraven9 Oh right! I didn't know that. And yes the main thing I did was play the Abba drum kit lol, I remember it clearly lol. That was probably my main motivation for going, come to think of it...
