The terrifying ordeal of moving house

  • I made this on my first night in my new apartment. I was pretty spooked out and also tired from the move and socializing all day.
Since then i have figured out how to lock my door from the inside (embarrassing myself to my landlady as the knob to turn was right in front of my face), i have figured out a way to open and close the windows so that it isn't too unpleasantly hot and i have tried out the bathtub. So i feel much better now 😊
Unfortunately my driving lesson today ended up with me in tears and i still have no wifi nor ceiling lights at home so i am pretty unstable still. But i am slowly coming back to homeostasis i hope 🙂

Oh Ingrid, I really feel for you, I'm sorry to hear it was so overwhelming. It's very understandable, especially after a draining day of upheaval and constant socialising. Your apartment looks lovely and spacious; I hope it starts to feel like home soon. You deserve to treat yourself for managing with it all so well.

    Hello Ingrid,
I'm really sorry. I hope you will be better soon.
Remember that you did it despite all the obstacles and you made it through all the movings you did during the last years. You can congratulate yourself for that!
Also being able to be so honest and raw is something I value very much.
I hope you will found comfort in your new apartment and I look forward for how you will transform it into a cosy place with your collage and other things.
I'm sure you are not the only one struggling with moving.
I understand about your worries about safety.
It's good you took days off. I hope you will be able to rest.
Don't hesitate to write to me on email if you need to speak about anything.
Take care of yourself Ingrid .

Hi thank you, it is ok. For some reason this move was more stressful than the others, but maybe it has to do with the apartment being old and moving with actual furniture. I guess also the expectation from others to actually "build a home" and "settle down" so to speak? I will try to make it mine with collage and and an ecclectic mix of stuff 😊
I managed to find a way to lock my door and that really calmed me down, but i also feel unsafe when the walls are paper thin. I know this is first world problems, but i am very sensitive to noise 😖
I hope am well rested enough to go back to work on wednesday, thank you! 😊

      Hi Ingrid.
It's nice to know you are doing better.
Society expectations are always a burden...
You know Ingrid my life experiences showed to try respect everyone's challenges as I'd like them to respect my challenges too so whether it's first world or something else it's valid!
I hope so and you are welcome 😊

Hang in there. Take it one day at a time. If you have to take it a moment at a time. Do something fun like painting...

    19:00 stepladder?
Just some quirks of the new place to sort out. Looks like the new place may need another piece of furniture or two, but there's plenty of time for future decisions.

Yes exactly, a stepladder! Thanks, for some reason this move has been way scarier than the others, even though it was just across the street 🙈 i will deal with furniture later...or maybe never, considering my rate of taking care of things in the past 😅🙈

Ingrid, I understand what you were feeling. It seems as if you are settling down some. New places are always a challenge, but you will be able to get through this. It is good that you had friends to help you out. I am looking forward to hearing how you make it through this, because I know you will do it. Rocky
