Great video! I got back into collecting back in March, spent a bunch of money, but have quickly adapted to the booster box mentality. I'm always looking for the right advice to follow to help minimize financial mistakes while collecting. I just wish my impulses would stop!😂

Lol, I had the same feelings wrt ETBs and tins and other boxes. I cleared out most of my tins in the last month. Mostly just buying a couple booster boxes to hold onto for a while, and also some 3-pack blisters. Wrt personal collection, I'm still trying to finish Silver Tempest, but doubt I'll be able to get that Lugia V without buying it at an event or something. I also like the Trainer Gallery sets, will probably collect more TEF/TWM, and I am looking forward to some of the future sets. And I'll most likely focus my 151 efforts on Japanese cards.

I started collected about 2 years ago, starting with english and pretty much priced out with japanese. Now that japanese is very affordable and whenever you open it, you pretty much get a portion of the box you paid for, this excites me. Now I don't really buy more english and pretty much wanted my investment pieces gone and convert to japanese. I have so much faith in japanese that the growth will be exponential once it recovers.

You said youre ordering from Forged in Fire or whatever... have you read their 1 star reviews and their replies to them? Fake cards and just straight up immature people running that business. Be careful with them brother.

Henry dont open that ST booster box because unless you pull lugia you are only going to get about $30 value if you are lucky and alt arts in ST are 1/168 packs and there are 4 alt arts in the set so you actually only have a 1/672 chance of pulling Lugia. But Henry there are 36 packs in a booster box which means you are 94.74% likely to NOT pull the lugia, and lose a lot of money and feel terrible after opening the box. And that ST box is going to shoot up in value when it goes out of stock on pokemon center. may I suggest you stick to japanese instead? Maybe 151 I heard it is cheap now

We are in a dead period for collectors right now. No new set for another month , and that set in question seems really small and weak for collectors and likely won’t have much to chase, which means we have to wait til September for the next next set. So until then this is THE card. Once we get the stellar terra, and the eevee set and team rocket set, it will probably go down. But can’t see it getting under 100 bucks unfortunately. It’s just cool art, a fan fav and super tough to pull. Kinda like the lugia or blaziken alt arts. Art is pretty cool, but not loved by all, but a pretty popular Pokémon keeps it valuable

Seems like my previous comment got deleted. I disagree with you sentiment that s&s and s&v will be here for years and years to come. Pokemon doesnt do reprints of eras that are no longer in print. There will be no S&S reprints now that we are in the S&V era. Deflationary product? That is simply not the case. Pretty much every single pokemon box has appreciated in value from MSRP given enough time. Hell even recent sets are going for MUCH higher than MSRP already. Yes, pokemon is printing way more product these days but they are making the pull rates way harder and theres significantly more people ripping boxes and packs open than ever before.

This is a very beautiful card, Henry. My daughter and I recently watched the entire XY anime series together and we love Greninja. I hope there will be a cheaper Greninja alt art card in the future because it has definitely become one of our favorites, but my husband would kill me if I spent $190 on one card.

An alternative you have probably considered, but I’ve been breaking collection boxes and tins down to save the packs inside. Takes up a tiny fraction of the space and they maintain like 95% value of the sealed box. Like you say you’re almost literally just burning money opening these.

you have been on a hot streak with these collection boxes Henry eventually it had to come to the end it is a shame that one only hit you pulled you already have. but Henry I think eric forgot to open his vstar universe box on your channel or maybe he just changed his mind and wants to keep it sealed which is ok. and Henry one day I think it would be good if you made one you tube short video of your common binder and you can point out your favourites and one you tube short video of your reverse holo binder where you do the same. I would like to see this.

Time is of the essence in this hobby. The best thing you can do during fomo/hype/stonking is to pivot your goals for the time being. There is a sweet spot to pick up singles with a modern set. There is so much to collect in the hobby. "Oh modern alts are mooning? Time to collect vintage while no one is really talking about it." there is always opportunity in this hobby, you just have to stray from the path and know where to look.

I’ve been wondering what is next for the Pokémon TCG brand. Will they ever do case hits, #’d cards, official artist signatures, die cuts, things like that. Some major chase that keeps collectors coming back. But then again, PC is a family owned company who likes the status quo. If it ever becomes a public company, everything is on the table. GOD HELP US if Elon Musk buys Pokémon 🤦🏽‍♂️

Maybe crimson haze bb may be the move. If the English version is too hard to hit then having a guaranteed SR/SAR per box may be the move

Out of the 3 sets, I see crimson haze coming out of the top just because of greninja, eevee, ursaluna and even chansey.

but Henry I remember you said you think this will be a good investment because nobody cares about it and the price will drop and you said you will buy a sealed case at $90 per box. but nobody predicted the low pull rates and higher booster box price. but I checked TCGplayer and market price is $108. do you think it is still a good investment at this price? market price for base is $95 to compare and you can pay just $20 more for paldea at $128 which has become the favourite for collectors in the first half of the era so with this higher than expected demand Henry do you still intend to buy a case?

I think the amazing thing about twilight masquerade is that low pull rate seems to be what actually saved it. Every1 was predicting that this would be one of the lowest priced boxes of the era and yet for some bizarre reason the fact that the pull rates are the worst of the era actually helped keep a strong booster box price
