I feel like you missed the main point. Tribalism you see, Muslims except Malays have lived in Clans, mostly Endogamous but also Exogamous. From the Arabic Qabilas to Pakistani Baradaris to even Gotra in Bangladesh. These Tribal communities hinder progress.
