Christianity is based on something called covenant theology which would be too much to explain in a comment, but basically we are not bound by all rules of the Old Testament. Punishments for many crimes had been severe in traditional Indian society, but people in modern times find it unreasonably severe. It isn't even their fault. Punishments for many crimes had been severe in traditional Indian society, but people in modern times find it unreasonably severe. It isn't even their fault. For quite a few decades till date, punishments for most crimes has been criminally lenient in most countries and it is natural for most of us to think this is the proper way.
Vedas and other Hindus scriptures say that if a king is lenient with any criminal gives him lighter punishment or refuses to punish him/her, he becomes party to the criminal's misdeeds, and he too goes through a hellish afterlife.

I have been asked this question who am I and I have said I’m Indian and then they asked what’s my religion and I said how does that matter. I’m just an Indian. Some of my Muslim friends say that too but yes they don’t really follow any Islamic rituals. Btw Majority of hindus don’t know about manusmriti. And it is also not a religious book. You can think of it as a book of law which was the main reason for discrimination but Dr Ambedkar along with few others took great efforts to make the people of India realise how wrong it was. If you see a crime done by any Hindu, just know that he has no knowledge of what Hinduism (sanathan dharm) truly is. A person who really follows sanathan dharm will never even inflict pain on an animal let alone some human. They will not discriminate, hate or be a part of violence. All the great Hindu scriptures basically talk about the soul, mind and how to lead a good life. There is no compulsion to pray or believe in any God. No Hindu will try to even convince you to become a Hindu. Sadly some people still believe in the caste system but in our scriptures, there is no mention of discrimination of any kind at least as far as I know. Btw you won’t even hear us say that our God is the best and all other religions are fake. Because we simply believe in live and let live mentality and yes, KARMA. Same goes for Buddhism and Jainism. So once again I would like to say - Only those who don’t know their sanathan dharma, will choose violence.

Strictness to follow one's own religion is not the issue here. The hatred towards others prescribed by scripture that is followed to the t is the main issue. Only one religion fits this description nowadays.
Hinduism Central book is veda. There nothing like that. Then come history book like mahabharat, ramayan, puran, . When ever you talking about Hinduism you should read all the book then come to any conclusions... Manusmriti is the not the authentic book because when you read manusmriti there several things like eg. (some rules in some chapter contradict same rule in another chapter) that's why you should read Bhishudho manusmriti.
In manusmriti some rules contradict with veda at that moment manusmriti has no value in front of veda
