Take for instance in the UK the legal age for consensual sex is 16, but as with the culture it would be not fitting for a for 44 year old to sleep with a 16 year old no matter the gender even though it's legal it would be frowned upon and it's rare.
Iaws change as per moving with the times. Development in humans and age expectancy also changes, child labour doesn't really exist in main stream countries so the development of the those countries young are slower in terms of there physical and mental attributes in maturity.
I mean you see all the time young girls looking 18 or more in clubs and so on, and someone tells you she's 14 or you here a story about something similar, before you know there age you might ask for a date but when you know there age wouldn't.
In ages of the past it wasn't like this you didn't have a teenage gap in human development like we have today and that's across the world as a whole the term teenagers didn't exist.

In Yemen it's still pretty rife despite the government raising the age of consent to 18 in recent years. . There is the case of a10 yr old Yemeni girl, Nojood Ali, who was married off by her parents to a man 3 times her age. For 2 months she was brutally beaten and raped by her 'husband". She managed to escape and with the help of a lawyer and human rights activists, she finally obtained a divorce, not only because of her young age and gross maltreatment, but her lawyer told her afterwards that the judge granted her the divorce only because her husband agreed to it. Would you be surprised if I told you that there were rich sheiks who said that raising the age of consent was un-islamic and that the Yemeni government were just pandering to Western imperialism.

You can't phically or mentally harm your wife or husband, she/he has to be sound of mind (this also protects people that are old and disabled too). The human body decides when a woman is ready as in a minstrel cycle and all the above would have to be in play also, you'll have your countries culture and laws to go by, plus you would have the parents an community. So all above mentioned would have to aline and agree.

When you have a prophet who married a girl of 6 and consummated the marriage when she was 9, don't be surprised if there are followers of Islam who think that's perfectly ok.

In fact: the marriage never _was_ consumated, as Richard was killed when Isabella was just 11.
Again, for todays standard, their relationship would (with quite some justification) be considered "grooming"... but all sources talk about a very fond relationship between these two, more akin to father and daugher or uncle and niece than between spouses.
And, without defending the practices that led to such a union... it was never claimed this this marriage was based on divine will.

The prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was married to his 1st wife when he was 25 and she was 40, he stayed married to one woman for 25 years before her death. He grieved for 2 years before he married again. All his wife's except for Aisha were widows, divorcees, older age and some Jewish women, this was because at the time people wouldn't marry widows or divorcees and these were looked as lower so he changed all that.
The Person has to be sound of mind and physically ready plus they have there own parents and community behind them.Also in Islam you can't physically or mentally hurt your wife.
In Europe a few hundred years ago you could marry a 7 year old, you didn't have teenagers nothing what we have now, you worked as a child even before puberty, age expectancy was shorter you grow up faster physically mentally. 1: Moses, got freedom for his people and gave them the 10 commandments.
2: Jesus, taught peace, love and forgiveness and shared many miracles with his people.

This verse deals with additional rules pertaining to the waiting-period of divorced women. It subdivides divorced women and their waiting-periods into three different categories. Under normal circumstances, the waiting-period of a divorced woman is three menstrual cycles as mentioned in Surah Al-Baqarah.

The whole practice of objectifying people is tied into the arranging infants and babies to be married then denying them the right to make their own choices for partners is very much medieval and is actually about power and property for the family tying them together .... its all about control and greed
