Tommy Trinder - Live at the Embassy Theatre, Peterborough, Nov 1940
Tommy Trinder Water Rat 364
Thomas Edward Trinder was born in Streatham, South London on the 24th March 1909. He made his first stage appearance at the age of 12, winning the Collins Music Hall talent show. From that show he was signed up by Will Murray to perform in Casey's Court Juvenile Comedy Show. By his early 20's Trinder had already played the biggest hall, and theatre's in the country. Radio and Films so followed and with the introduction of TV he was soon a regular on the box, billed as "the English Bob Hope", which is quite ironic as it was an incident with Bob Hope that got him fired off his most famous show "Sunday Night at the London Palladium".
He died 10th July 1989

It’s incredible to see the amount of comic material he crams into less than 15 minutes - even filmed in front of a fairly low key TV studio audience, the final Mandalay routine is pure comic gold from a time that now doesn’t exist. “ whatever will I do with all these peas.”?

Loved Chic all my life. Legendary comedian well known (not personally) by my grandparents so the comic stories were passed down. Always hard to catch the occasional TV appearance in those days but a fair few impressionists perpetuated his unique humour. Making up for lost time on TH-cam. Laughing with tears of joy. Thank you.
