Chic Murray - Jokers Wild (Solo Spot) - TX Date November 3rd 1971

Chic Murray, Water Rat 607.
He was born Charles Thomas McKinnon Murray in Greenock, Renfrewshire on November 6th 1919.
While working at the Kincald shipyard Chic put together a band "The Whinhillbillies" that then became "Chic and his Chicks". He was spotted by a young performer, Maide Dickson who suggested working together. First billed as "The Tall Droll with the Small Doll' (Chic was 6'3" and Maide was 4'11") and then became "Maide & Murray".
By the 60s Chic had gone solo and with his dry style and tartan bunnet, he became one of the most sort after comics in the UK.
He died on January 29th 1985

Much too clever, polished, inventive and original for a lot of people today who know nothing other than the left-wing woke brigade who clog up all the BBC and Channel 4 panel shows. Chic Murray is a legend.

So the loud, shouty, sweary, unsubtle Billy Connolly claims he based his act on the quiet, dry, subtle, non-swearing Chic Murray. They couldn't be farther apart.
