    Harold Donald Secombe was born in Swansea, Wales on September 8th 1921, the third of four children. He and his siblings were all singing in the local church choir by the time he was 11, and he was already showing a promising voice.
    During military service in Naples, Secombe became part of a group of forces entertainers and within it formed a comedy duo with Spike Milligan.
    While working at the Windmill Theatre he met Michael Bentine and Peter Sellers, the four wrote a comedy radio script called "Those Crazy People" and it was broadcast on 28th May 1951, the name changed and the rest was comedy history...
    In later years Secombe would become host of many television shows that incorporated hymns and other songs of devotion.
    He died 11th April 2001
