I have been ordained for 15 years and in my time have notices changes in funeral practice here (I am in New Zealand) - this is a more secular country than the US and we have come to the point where unless people had a real involvement with the Church it is unlikely their families will ask for a minister to take the funeral. Also Covid and the lockdowns had a huge impact that hasn't gone away with a tendency for a very quick cremation followed by a memorial service some days later

Great discussion....I grew up dispensational, then went to reformed theology and now that I'm reading scripture more closely since looking into NCT (it makes so much more sense when you take passages in context realising to whom the author is speaking to and trying to follow the argument rather than relying on some system of theology for the answers)

Looked up that movie on IMDB from 1986 God’s Outlaw about William Tyndale starring Roger Rees. Honestly never heard of anyone starring in the movie🤷‍♀️Was it a good movie and worth watching?

I have attended several different IFB churches, and essentially they have all chosen to identify as IFB because of their stance on baptism, assurance of salvation, KJV only, and conservative values. None have required members to denounce other Bible versions, but all the church reading was going to be out of KJV. Some churches were more concerned about dress standards in the service than others, but all were consistent that your choices are between you and God. Some had modern music, some hymns only. I know of some IFB churches that are very legalistic - but those are usually the exception in the areas I’ve been in. I suspect other areas of the country may have different experiences, my pastor speaks of his past experiences which were definitely more legalistic beliefs.

I will purchase this book. Hearing brother Tony mention the late Martyn Lloyd-Jones is an encouragement to me. Lloyd Jones’ material pulled me out of my own “Dark night of the soul” as Spurgeon coined. I’ve also learned through my struggle with anxiety and depression that we are truly in spiritual warfare and must stand firm regardless of how we may feel. The enemy of our souls knows how to drive us to despair. we must be able to identify his schemes and devices and not become ignorant of those things. Great conversation fellas! Thanks
