Hear Between The Lines
Germany
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 16 ม.ค. 2021
We are Freddi and Rami, two Hamburg-based musicians, exploring microtonality together. Having dabbled with quarter tones for some months we were soon enthralled by the overtone series and its approximations. Our excitement became too much to keep to ourselves, we had to let everyone know! Our goal is to unlock the potential of HARMONIC microtonality and to make our findings fun and accessible.
We'd be thrilled if you were to support our monthly videos! We're curious to see where this journey takes us and who will choose to be part of it.

Is this the end of HBTL?
As the title and thumbnail probably gave away: Freddi is leaving Hear Between The Lines.
Why? Well, put it in a nutshell: He needs more time for other projects and had to make the very hard decision to let go of this great, albeit time consuming project. It’s important for us to state that we are splitting up on good terms and will for example continue giving classes together at our university.
Rami will continue the channel and can already announce that there is a new series in cooperation with the Hamburg Open Online University (HOOU) in the making as well as other videos.
If you would like to support our work, check out our music: we recently released a microtonal album!

Radical Tenderness (feat. Philipp Gerschlauer) - Hear Between The Lines (Official Music Video)
มุมมอง 12Kปีที่แล้ว
We are very proud to release the title track of our upcoming album! It's the shortest track on the album, but definitely the one with the highest energy - and tons of microtonal mischief going on between the lines 🙂 We wanted to write a love-themed song, kinda like Billy Joel's iconic „Just the way you are“, BUT at the same time have a new 21st century, critical perspective on love - and especi...

Do you have a playlist of your background music? I love the microtonal jazz background music
Why does this remind me of minecraft live?
9:03 could be C harmonic 13 bb15? (Since Bd is four fifthtones under C, so this can be spelled C-E-Bdb-F+-Adb-Cbb?) I mean, sharp 15 is a thing so might as well have double flat 15
Zhea Erose was my first foray into 31-EDO. She has a lot of great videos on it.
Absolutely, Zhea is so awesome!

Would you be interested in microtonal composition ? 😅
This is so joyous because they are actually EXPLAINING how it works! I have an Bach example of the new Precise Temperament Tuning in my video, “Frank explains his Acoustification recording process.” _The Acoustic Rabbit Hole_ loves your music!
The video is so visually well done! Helped explain so much in such a concise way. And the Jazzy background music is at the perfect volume to not distract from the lesson. Guys, you may want to see my Theory if Pitch Psychology. I have spent many years showing that composers unconsciously choose certain keys for specific emotive effects. And is based on labeling, or understanding that our hearing is spectral. For example, Love Songs over and over get written in C major. And just as C is a very warm, robust, full note, I label this Red. The rest of the psychological spectrum follows as a parallel to the 12 colors on the color wheel. My findings are shocking. Si happy to have discovered your channel. Amazingly, this video of yours came up just after I re-watched one of my own videos, “How I See the Color Shapes When I Play the Piano!”
:(
This is awesome and adorable and hilarious i love it😆
As is this lovely comment! db
i love this, sounds so refreshing and soothing at the same time.
from bar 3 to bar 4 sounds really really nice with the microtonal notes it just sounds like a computer startup and i like it
do you think it is unrealistic to put a 5/6 sharp symbol in the cello part of my piece if I want it to be played? how hard is it for string instruments to learn microtones?
Imagine discovering a new popular microtonalist's channel only to find out they are quitting (not really) 😢
Only Freddi is, though, I'm working on the next video as I'm typing this comment! <3

What is the time sigeature?
Do you guys have a keymap for the shrinking dominant saleof 31ter on an isomorphic keyboard? It would be a life saver 😊
Ouff, I don't think so... The step sizes in 31 are: 5 - 5 - 4 - 4- 4 - 3 - 3 - 3 , though
@@HearBetweenTheLines Thank you, that helps too
That last harmonization of the main theme was totally crazy, absolutely loved it!
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
🤌
Lol is this targeted at 6 year olds?
Absolutely
This is like an alien parasite that slowly hijacked my brain
My ears have been awakened
Anyone know the piano tune in the background I love it and cannot find it?
look in the description!
@@HearBetweenTheLines Oh marvelous! thank you I cannot believe I missed that on the first pass, and thank you so much for all your work you've expanded how I imagine music greatly and your album was simply magnificent.

Hahahaha
Wow
i love the use of the lumatone here
more stevie songs pls
The Linnstrument is objectively superior to the Lumatone especially with the available MPE expression.
Damn
i guess it was
I used to hear strings that are a quartertone off in some movies for some reason, and it always sounded magical to me, but this time the part is intentional 🔥🔥🔥
Is the time signature 6 ? 4
the video quality is so obnoxiously good I sincerely wish I had noticed your channel before
Wow! Glad you enjoy it ;)
is the piano in the background microtonal?
You know it! Check out Mike Battaglia's Version of Sweet Lorraine on his channel :D
Very clever: "Flippable" is Georgia!
Personally 17 tet is my favorite. Got the murcury tree sound
Gonna check it out later this year, for sure!
@HearBetweenTheLines yes! Look up mercury tree, self similar album. If you like prog metal and king gizzard stuff you'll be blown away.
@@HearBetweenTheLines please lemme know what ya think!
I love your approach to exploring micro tonality. How would you recommend experimenting with it in a DAW environment? is there a particular plugin that makes woking with 31TET intuitive or comfortable for you?
Hope this channel continues
It absolutely will! Working on my MA concert right now and after that there's gonna be an explosion of videos!
@@HearBetweenTheLines How far in progress is it? I just found your channel a few days ago and I've been binging so much lol. Its like my first exposure to 31tet and honestly Its super interesting so id like to see more

This might be the closest a song has been to bringing me to tears. The video no doubt helps, but the music is so gorgeously written and performed. I only wish I could listen to it again for the first time so I could allow myself to weep. But y'know, the good kind of weeping.
