  • We are thrilled to finally share the next song from our upcoming album with you. As always, we can't stress enough how enormously thankful we are for the support of our musician friends who brought this piece to life.
    The song features Rami playing a solo on his newest instrument: a Cello da Spalla made by his amazing luthier Thomas Thämlitz (www.holzblut.de).
    And, speaking of new instruments, we were able to get the microtonal luminaries Dolores Catherino on various microtonal keyboards and Erik Natanael Gustafson and his NEOD on board!
    Working together remotely, from Alaska and Sweden, the two of them composed and performed a mesmerising, ethereal intro for this song. Thank you!
    We were looking for a visualisation that would balance the ambiguity of the coziness/warmth with the excitement of fire. Gabriella Basso more than matched our expectations ;) Check out her exceptional art here: / gabartes_

    Wow what a beast of a song!! I'm so stoked about how this all came together and how the neod fit in with the whole. Beautiful job writing and mixing and playing and singing of course!

    One of my favorite features of microtonal music is how in the higher EDOs a deisis is almost melodically infinitesimal, but can have drastic harmonic effects.
    Can't wait for the album!

    Just as amazing as ever! Felt like this song took me through a journey. Looove that Cello da Spalla solo, never heard of that instrument before! You two keep up the amazing work, I cannot wait to see your art blossom even more!

      Awww, thanks so much!! Yeah, it was super challenging, actually, the instrument took longer to build than anticipated (good things take time ;) ), so I had literally just picked it up - it wasn't even varnished yet - and then played all night until I felt like I could record :D But I love it, it's so fun to play!

    beautiful! intro is so mystical with so many tones, also i think i heard 2 instruments playing in different Tets, one around 53 and second i think even higher. then song start with very familiar 12 tones(or part of notes close to it)? than transforming with chromatisms and mixing with higher edo's, feel like it changes in time so i can't tell where is who, but i think i heard 12, 24 and 31. Nice mix(between the tones) and i love this chromatisms. Also start of song, first words and animation remind me about "A Little Match Girl" story. idk if the reference was intended. Also nice work with rhytmic patterns between front and back. relistened already 5 times. But, i think transition between intro and song itself could be better, i don't find enought bond between intro and song. Also harmonic development of music into culmination at 4:25 was nice but not enough culmination itself(just for me), that sudden drop into soft melody could be even better if the culmination would be more bright and more tense.
    but overall i like your work, and vocal is nice.
    i wish world have more microtonal music. and 31tet i can absolutely imagine as the future of music

    So I'm guessing 53/JI.. did you guys build on a 31 framework after the intro? I still get a feeling you're moving in a diesis here and there.

      @HearBetweenTheLines  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Good ear!! Wow, so the intro is 53 (Neod) and 72 (Synths) on top of each other and the rest of the song's framework 12 and 24 later on.

    Different to the two recent ones. I like the "solid foundations" earthquake around 4:18. What shall I say. I tried myself in microtonal music 20 years ago with Magix Music maker and I regret that I deleted my mp3s and my TH-cam Videos where I experimented with 8/7 ratios to give more fat to d:c. I think I still have a channel somewhere but I forget the name and my login and also the names of my songs.
    But I am really happy to hear that someone achieves, where I failed. You raise the children which starved to death under my care. It is really a pleasure that someone managed it.
    Thanks for this music. As if I had a memory of these songs, even if these songs never existed before.

    Good stuff as usual :) Just curious, do you know of anybody who has microtonal perfect pitch? Someone who can, for example, tell exactly what degree in 31 EDO is being played? And do you think someone who has normal 12 TET perfect pitch could learn to recognize a different tuning system and gain absolute pitch for that as well?

    • @HearBetweenTheLines
      @HearBetweenTheLines  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks a lot! :)
      I think you can absolutely learn 31-EDO perfect pitch if you have 12 EDO "memorised". Two friends of ours, Stephen Weigel and Mike Battaglia, are both great examples of that!

    • @HearBetweenTheLines
      @HearBetweenTheLines  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We use Pianoteq, the Surge Synthesizer, Keyscape and Infinitone DirectMicroTuning for everything that is not natively microtonal!

    • @febilogi
      @febilogi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HearBetweenTheLines wait, can we use infinitone to tune vst that can't do microtonal? For example to tune keyscape so we could use it for 31 edo, even when keyscape doesn't support MPE capability? Nice piece btw! Keep up the good work :D

    • @febilogi
      @febilogi ปีที่แล้ว
