- We are very proud to release the title track of our upcoming album! It's the shortest track on the album, but definitely the one with the highest energy - and tons of microtonal mischief going on between the lines 🙂
We wanted to write a love-themed song, kinda like Billy Joel's iconic „Just the way you are“, BUT at the same time have a new 21st century, critical perspective on love - and especially music and its role in keeping stereotypes alive. So we twisted things around wherever we could, but we just couldn’t live without the Saxophone Solo, that these kinds old love songs tend to feature. So, inevitably, we asked the mind-bending Philipp Gerschlauer (who's able to play a staggering 128 notes per octave on his horn - what the flarp, indeed...) to join the fun!
Not only is he a fantastic player, he is also an absolute expert on all matters microtonal! We strongly encourage you to check out his pioneering work!
A massive thanks to our awesome band for making our ideas come to life!

Brilliant song.
Most microtonal stuff I've come across so far either had an underwhelming product ion, or was heavily influenced by electronica in some shape or form (ie sevish, fastfast)
From that perspective, combining an organic jazzy groove with microtonality like this is revolutionary.
I'd love to hear a longer piece with a more elaborate form from you guys. This one is a bit too short.

I'm sad to find that the song gets stuck in my head in a 12TET way. I'm whistling 12TET melodies that approximate the 31TET melodies of the song.
I feel ya… It takes a little bit of time for the „new“ notes to get their own „container“ in one’s mind. Keep at it and try to get your hands on an instrument or something microtonal to sing to and be aware which note/interval you want to sing/play. If all that doesn’t help, give us a shout on Patreon.com, we’re happy to help you out individually there!

It’s about accepting and being able to live and experience all kinds of love - we used the title of the book „Radical Tenderness“ by Seyda Kurt, it’s an interesting read for sure!
