  • Coltrane's master-meme was the first of it's kind, preceding all other memes, and it's been around longer than the internet itself.
Many have since grappled with the Coltrane's tune, but there is something new on the horizon...
They have always been there, but they only existed on the fringes of our collective consciousness. Now, however, they are taking the stage: Quartertone Modulations!
So grab your instrument/warm up your voice and start practicing. We nominate all of you to partake in the microtonal giant steps challenge.
    -----------------------
    **HOW TO TAKE PART**
    1. Download the video and the sheet from our Dropbox Link!
    www.dropbox.co...
    2. Record yourself how you play your solo and upload it on your social media channels.
    **use the hashtag** : #GiantStepsChallenge
    3. Let the world know how smoothly you’re able to handle quarter-tones!
    Cheers!

Is that a lumatone? If so, this would be the first video I've ever seen that doesn't make a huge deal out of focusing on the light-up hexagonal keys lmao

For anyone who wants to dive deeper into the world of microtonal-playing: Come to Vienna and study at MUK (Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna) with quarter-tone maestro and member of our faculty Philipp Gerschlauer. Among other courses he leads our Microtonal-Ensemble!

I have two words to add: Philipp Gerschlauer!
His song Mikrosteps pretty much summons up microtonal Giant Steps. :)

Maybe, but perhaps I should build a quarter tone banjo first! It'll be a little while...

'Sounds like the hole ain't punched quite in the middle o' this record! Top when you think about it though - a rigid piano tuner's nightmare!

damn this sounded familiar and fucked up (in a good way) at the same time. Thats what music is for!

This channel is fantastic, can't wait to see more stuff! One question though, where did you get that guitar? I'd love to have something like that to mess around with.
