  • Hey!
    This is our short version of Jacob Collier's 'Once You'.
    Inspired by the amazing Subhraag Singh and his awesome new MIDI plug-in Infinitone we asked ourself what would a Jacob Collier song sound like if it were in just intonation. Here is what we came up with :) We're going up all the way to the 13th overtone, can you spot it?
    Stay tuned for loads of new videos coming out very soon!

      Wow, thanks! Do check out Mike Battaglia, Benyamind, Amelia Huff alias 'Zhea Erose' and James Mulvale alias 'fastfastmusic' just to name a few others we're inspired by!
      Cheers from Hamburg!

    Stunning! My singular goal creating Infinitone DMT was to make a tool that musicians could use to create beautiful inspiring new music! BAM! Wow, you sure did it here, hearing this makes all the effort worth it. My wife just heard this, and she said it "feels like honey in my ears".... I agree!

      @@lolzlarkin3059 We had a zoom meeting with Subhraag Singh (the inventor of infinitone), Stephen James Taylor (a fantastic microtonal musician/composer/producer), Barak Schmool (one of Jacob's university teachers) and Jacob. We talked about layouts for possible new midi controllers, tunings, the infinitone software and other things :)

      @@HearBetweenTheLines I'm still learning to use it. I think I need to start with presets! Also my main orchestral library Opus doesn't seem to like the MPE commands even though it purports to be compatible.

    I'm curious how you mapped the keyboard to 13-limit JI. 🙂
    Did you simply map it to a just diatonic scale with harmonic accidentals on other notes, or is it mapped adaptively (changing mid-performance)?

    • @HearBetweenTheLines
      @HearBetweenTheLines  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The latter :) We used a new software called 'Infinitone' conceived by our friend Subhraag Singh, more info in the video description. Also, we'll make a breakdown session at some point soon.

    Wow! Sic. How did you manage? Post tuning, just listening to it alot and singing along or?

    • @HearBetweenTheLines
      @HearBetweenTheLines  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We recorded the piano, tuning it on the go with the "Infinitone direct micro-tuning" plug-in, then Rami sang the melody on top and then we overdubbed the harmonies. No melodyne or other tuning, just listening - it's actually quite easy to sing to, because the chords are already so in tune!

    • @HearBetweenTheLines
      @HearBetweenTheLines  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, for example in the arpeggiated intro chord that Freddi plays just before Rami starts singing or on the 2nd syllable of 'rea-DY' near the end. :) Cheers!
